What should I be looking forward to?

I have been a fan of Dynasty for some years, but as of yet, I haven't seen nothing beyond the opening episode of its oft-forgotten spinoff, Dynasty II: The Colbys. I've see the Dynasty episodes introducing the California Colby clan, and I will admit they seem a bit cluttered.

My question here is what exactly should I be expecting from The Colbys? Is is superior or not to its parent show? Pros and cons? Et cetera, et cetera...

Any thoughts???

It doesn't have the major star-quality that DYNASTY had (and squandered) BUT it is vastly superior to most of the parent show, and not just by comparison. It starts off OK but soon figures out what works and doesn't and writes to it.

So The Colbys wrote to its strengths better than Dynasty did? I'm hoping to get time to watch The Colbys, and especially since it's under 50 episodes, it won't take me too long to do that, either.

It's a drama series about a wealthy disfunctional family, like the other prime time soaps, so I think you sort of know what to expect...
But what are you afraid of?
The worst thing that can happen is that you don't like it, and then you just stop watching. We can't decide for you what you're going to like or dislike.

Why not watch it to enjoy it, instead of watching it just to finish it?
Be good to The Colbys, and The Colbys will be good to you!:)

First off, I don't see anything wrong with asking opinions about a show before I watch it. A lot of people do it, so why should be simple questions about The Colbys be so different?

I am not afraid of anything about this show. What is there to be scared of? Nothing. I just simply asked for opinions about it from those who have already seen it. Again, don't see anything wrong there. I'm not asking for anyone to decide anything for me. What's wrong with seeing what others may or may not have liked before I watched it? Nothing.

I have every intention on enjoying this show, and again, I only asked a question to get some simple pros and cons responses perhaps, not to be cornered and ridiculed.

Sable Colby is EVERYTHING.
I've heard Sable is a must-see! :):D

When do you plan to start watching? Maybe you could write a little review on here after every episode?

ALIENS!

But in all honesty, SABLE. I'd love it if you wrote a few words on each episode! Be prepared to hate the uselessness of BLISS though.
Yes, multiple people have spoke of how powerful Stephanie Beacham is as Sable, while I think I've read on other sites (several times) that Bliss was completely wasted.

But if you've already decided to watch the show, then what's the point of asking for opinions? Better to watch it, and then post your opinions on this forum.
It's so much more fun to watch it without knowing what other people like or dislike.

Its not a bad show, certainly much better material than what Dynasty was creating at the time.

The Colby's run concurrently with Dynasty's seasons 6 & 7 which were probably the worst years of Dynasty along with season 8, so if you want a consistent season long storyline then watch the Colby's
Sable is the main attraction considering she was virtually unknown to American audiences in the mid 80s, she was a regular scream queen on the Hammer House of Horror films in the late 60s and 70s over here in the UK.

Yes, poor Bliss. For all my hatred towards her, I do believe she had potential. And I can't help but wonder if Claire Yarlett was such a bad actor because of the direction she was given. After all, John Forsythe, Linda Evans and PSM were all good actors and yet gave wooden performances more than few times. The only other thing I say Yarlett in was an episode of "Frasier", but her role was very small so it was hard to tell. Yet she did seem more natural that time around.

...and I still don't get why people think Sean is attractive. I don't. I just don't.

I dunno you know, The Colby's weren't affected under the Static Acting Directive, only Emma Samms was scripted and directed to act wimpy and victim like, John James' acting on the Colbys was much freer than it was when he was on Dynasty.

I think Bliss had some potential but only if her storylines weren't Amanda inspired.

I liked how she was openly hostile to Frankie though.

I liked Bliss. She was the only one that seemed to know Frankie's game, wasn't she? The slut game. Game of Sluts. Queen of Sluts. Frankie Colby.
