You may have noticed the Community section of the site has undergone a few small changes. The Lounge’s sub-forums have been streamlined, and this is where the Rant Room can now be found.
The Play Games & Chat forum remains but no longer contributes to user post totals, reflecting its informal nature. This change has been in discussion for a while and was trialed previously.
The main reason for the change is to due to the Games forum having a rapid posting pace and a large number of posts but less meaningful discussion than other areas. Making this small change ensures Games threads can continue to be brief and spontaneous without presenting moderation challenges. Games having more posts than any other forum (more than Dallas/Knots Landing/TNT forums combined) has skewed statistics and this change will help rectify that.
The decision aims to maintain balance, keep the Games forum as a fun and informal breakout space, and ensure the site’s statistics better reflect the focus on TV and pop culture discussions.
