Emmerdale Chrissie White theory!

I've come up with what I think could be an interesting theory as to Chrissie White's true parentage...

Chrissie was born in 1980, and knowing Joe's string of romances throughout the 70s and 80s, could it be possible that Chrissie could be a secret daughter of Joe Sugden?

This would make her and ex-husband Robert first cousins... an interesting twist would you say? :)

That would be brilliant! It would also bring the past into the present day, Emmerdale needs links to the past beyond the mid 1980s, the majority of the long serving characters are from 1994/95 onwards with only Robert and Eric originating from 1986, there is still fourteen years missing.

Unlike Corrie and EE where plenty of characters from the 1960s and 1980s are still around today, there is no one from the 1972-85 era of Emmerdale.

Perhaps Chrissie's mother could be........Christine Sugden - Joe's first wife from the 1970s briefly, let's say that Joe and Christine met up one night in 1979 to finalise their divorce but after reminiscing about their earlier days and too much to drink, they sleep together and they never speak of it again but Christine gives birth to Chrissie in 1980.

We know that Christine must've kept in some sort of occasional friendly contact with Joe in the years following their divorce as She sent flowers to Joe's funeral in 1995.

Plus Joe for most of the 1980s until he met his second wife, Kate Hughes, said that he wished he was still married to Christine.

If this happened that would mean Chrissie would not only be connected to the Sugdens, but also the Hughes family.

Sorry if I got carried away there lol.

I don't think the show should go too much into the past, as we're now nearly 17 years into the 21st Century... it has to focus on the future as well.

I remember people saying that the 40th anniversary week of episodes should have been littered with references to the past and not focus on new characters, yet the 20th anniversary week episodes in 1992 had no references to past storylines or characters, and focussed on newcomers at the time like Lorraine Nelson and Neil Kincaid. :/

I do agree that we need to look to the future too, but an occasional nod to the past would be great, since Emmerdale out of all the soaps has for the best back story, something that until Kate Oates became EP was never full appreciated.

Yes I think Chrissy being an illegitimate Sugden would be a marvellous twist, as we still don't know who her father is, I'm sure this will be explored sometime in 2017/2018 as I don't think we're done with this storyline yet, nor do I think we're done with the White family,
I think more will crop up sooner or later.

The White family are the true successors of the Tates and have finally filled in the void that they left behind

A couple of points guys - firstly, Chrissie and I are very much in love. Secondly, please don't make any jealous or bitchy comments about her. She's worth ten of you lot.

Come hither to me, Chrissie-my-love, let us away to a land far beyond where the air is filled with sweet birdsong and where having sex standing up in alleyways is welcomed. Knaa worra mean, like.

No don't apologise, I think it would be a brilliant twist. Diane and would be totally freaked out, while Robert would just see an opportunity to get something out of the situation.....LOL!!!! Only problem is that Emmerdale SL are so shortlived and shallow they'd never do it justice.
