Clark Gable: The King of Hollywood

Clark Gable was often referred to as the King of Hollywood, a title many in the industry felt he deserved. He was majorly popular for close to thirty years, and he starred in a number of classics. He often appeared opposite many popular leading ladies of the time, such as Jean Harlow, Joan Crawford, Greta Garbo, Greer Garson, Ava Gardner, Grace Kelly, Doris Day, and Marilyn Monroe.

Clark Gable was a pure Movie Star. He always played Clark Gable. Clark Gable as a cowboy; Clark Gable as a newspaper man; Clark Gable as a scoundrel. His imagery didn't even change or evolve the way, say, Joan Crawford went through different eras. He was basically the same in 1960 as in 1930, just more grizzled.

So it really just comes down to how much one likes Clark Gable. For myself, I like him a lot.

I like a lot of his movies, and especially his leading ladies. I love his movies with Jean Harlow and Joan Crawford. And of course, his final film, THE MISFITS, with Monroe, is one of my absolute favorite movies ever.​

When I think of Clark Gable I think of class. That’s the first word that comes to mind when I watch any movie he’s in. Just a true legend in his field.

i hit the wrong button so i have no clue on how to delete that uh sorry about that, but any ways he's favorite of mine it's really funny how for a guy if you look at him before his teeth got caps by the studio was an awkward looking dude. the studio made him a better looking guy i think, i dunno how many of his films i've seen but there are some i just love with i think San Francisco (1936) i think would be my favorite. Test Pilot (1938) would i think be in my top 5 as well. i'll have to look at his filmography to see which other ones i have seen.

Carole was known for pulling pranks when doing her movies too. When doing Mr and Mrs Smith, she is said to have repeatedly stuck Democrat stickers over Republican Robert Montgomery’s Rolls-Royce.
