If I had seen this before the series started I probably wouldn't have watched one single episode.
And to be honest, I'm glad I hadn't seen any of those The Colbys promos. They're fun, after so many years, but not at that time.

Even though its only a brief promo, Number 96 looks dreadful. The original Aussie version wasn't exactly Masterpiece Theatre from what I've seen but it had it's charm.

I thought it was too absurd to call it a traditional soap series, but I liked it for what it was (I've only watched the DVD episodes).
It looks like TRASH! But sometimes I enjoy watching very bad movies or tv series. (Once Is Not Enough, The Lonely Lady).
So, yeah, I'd love to see this

CBS weren't particularly imaginative with the promos for their 80's sagas but here's a couple from 1986 that step away from the usual "scenes from the next episode" format.

Angel Falls looks interesting. The Four Corners promo doesn't show very much so I can't comment on that.

I think all of the episodes of Four Corners (or Homestead as it was known here) are available online. It was actually being shown on UK TV again last week. They condensed the episodes and showed it as a miniseries when it's aired here. It was just OK from what I can remember. Like there was nothing really remarkable about it that I can recall and because it was dropped after a few episodes, there's no real resolution to it. Which remind me of another soap....

Awesome. It looks like a spin-off series for KL's "Chip Roberts".

It held so much promise. Rosa Blasi was due to show up as the "Lady Macbeth-esque wife" of the rich brother in law, which sounded delicious. Given all of the hype in the run up to the show's premiere, it's mind boggling that they didn't give it more of a chance. They didn't even try a new timeslot and just dumped it after two episodes.

Yep. FOX have a pretty patchy record with pulling the plug on soaps early. Skin only ran for three episodes and Pasadena only ran for four (thank God for syndication). Yet junk like North Shore was allowed to limp on for a full season around the same period.

From that brief period in 2001 when Friday nights on FOX were fun.

One of my favourite shows from that era was POPULAR. It was such a clever mix of teen-soap and absurdity and surrealism.
