I'm rather fond of this low-key, Vegas-centric THE ONLY GAME IN TOWN with Warren Beatty -- and all the interior scenes are shot in Paris!

I love "The Only Game In Town (1970).

It is not her best movie but it is still special to me since it was the last of her movies (Except for Scent of Mystery that I haven't seen yet) that I saw. I watched it for her birthday four years ago and there was something about the movie that touched me so much that I began to cry when I saw it!

In some ways the movie was just sad. It also inspired me to make another fan music video. The music choice sums up what I think the movie was really about.

There's still a couple of Richard's movies that I haven't seen yet. But it's not that many. Altogether it took me about 8 years to watch all of Elizabeth's movie catalogue. I have pretty much all of her films on DVD or VHS. So I've collected them. They really don't make actresses like her anymore.

So has anyone watched any Elizabeth movies lately?

I rewatched Cleopatra last month.
But that's the only one I've watched lately. I still think it's amazing how they filmed the movie with actual extras and not just duplicating the people with a bunch of CGI effects. For being a 50 + years old movie it holds up really well.


Of course it was also on that movie that Elizabeth & Richard fell in love. So I think knowing that also adds something to the movie when you watch it.

Thanks for sharing. It was interesting to see how they worked with the exibition and auction. I went to see the jewelry in Geneva. Most beautiful pieces I have ever seen. Unfortunately they didn't have any clothes there. Strange to think it's been almost 9 years...

So did anyone else also go to the exhibition?

Today there was a small news item in my morning paper on the family page that stated that 45 years ago Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton got remarried on this date.

Also intersting to hear him talk about how in love Elizabeth still was with Richard at that point in her life, even though they were getting a divorce again.

I was watching an episode of the Australian TV-series "McLeod's Daughters" tonight. The episode was called "My Brother's Keeper" and was from 2004. In it two characters are playing a trivia game and one of the questions asked was "How many men has Elizabeth Taylor been married to?"
Kate replied "Eight".
Jodi corrected her: "Seven, she was married to Richard Burton twice!"

I thought it was nice. It's fascinating how ET and RB keeps being referrenced in pop culture. I am sure there are plenty of more references like that. Has anyone else found any similar references in movies or tv-series?

Also I just read that there's an exhibition about Richard's life at the National Museum in Cardiff. It's not open for the public right now due to the pandemic. But it looks really interesting. I hope it will stick around for a long time as I'd love to visit it!

Today it's Elizabeth's birthday. She was born 89 years ago today.



I spent the afternoon watching some extra material on the Cleopatra Blu Ray disc that I've just bought. It said that the movie was 4 hours and 11 minutes. I have two earlier versions on DVD, one which is 3 hours and 59 minutes and one which is 4 hours and 8 minutes. That means that something more must have been restored. I doubt they'll ever find the orignal print though. It's a shame that they didn't go with the 3 hours and 3 hours movies. Although I must admit I love the 4 hour version.

Besides I love Elizabeth's entrance in the movie when she falls out of the carpet. If we'd seen her in the dessert previous to that it wouldn't have been the same thing. So maybe some of the changes were actually good for the movie. Or what do you think?
