Former Home & Away Actor Dieter Brummer dead at 45

Dieter Brummer played the role of Shane Parrish. I've never watched Home & Away but was aware of his other roles. Thoughts are with his family and friends.​

Gosh! That's a shocker! I watched H&A for a couple of years only, and it happened to be when he was in the show.

My very thoughts.

I still think of him as a Summer Bay newbie as Shane arrived towards the end of "my" H&A viewing era, which was something like the first 1200 episodes.

I'd stopped watching by the Shane & Angel era, but I know it's one of the most fondly remembered times in the series' history (even though Dieter and Melissa George apparently didn't get on at all off-screen).

By all accounts he was very disillusioned at having been typecast off the back of his H&A role and not getting the kinds of roles he wanted. It must be quite a difficult image to shake off.

I too no longer watch Home and Away but regard 1990s Shane and Angel as being the serial at its very peak.

I also have vague recollections of him appearing in Neighbours but cannot remember his storyline.

Obviously, it is always sad to hear that somebody has apparently taken their own life, famous or otherwise.

Hopefully he has found an inner peace now.
