I wish I could have included this one, but with only 10 choices we have to make sacrifices.

I was also looking for another gay-themed movie but didn't remember the title.
It's sort of a road movie, a romance between two men, and one of them is extremely violent (but not towards his friend).
The non-violent man has AIDS.

Does anyone know this movie?

The gay romance and AIDS part fit with "The Normal Heart" (2014) but not the road movie and it's much later so it can't be the one you're thinking about.

Anyway thank you to everyone who's added your votes for this round already. Also I don't wanna sound like a nag but since this is bound to be a round with many different movies I want to remind you all to please add the years in bracets after your selections. It would save me lots of time when I tally up the results. :thank:

A sidenote, in Swedish the word "List" means sneakiness or cunning. So well I used to think the movie was about how this man named Schindler used his cunning to save the lives of the jews. I've never made the connection that it referred to an actual written list before now! :innocent:

Okay so next up is a star that I think most of us recognize:

-howard-keel-famous-men.jpg

Howard Keel was an American actor and singer. He was born on April 13th, 1919 in Gillespie, Illinois, USA. He was named Harry Clifford Keel. He had an older brother. His father was a coal miner who died when Howard was 11. After that the family relocated to California where he graduated from Fallbrook High School. His career in showbiz took off in the 1940s when he was staring in a number of Broadway musicals. In 1947 he went to England where he performed in the London’s West End. He also made his film debut in a British movie. In 1948 Hollywood discovered him and wanted him for Annie Get Your Gun (1950). He was then signed to a five year movie contract by MGM.

After that he returned to the stage and his career sort of fizzled out a bit until he made a comeback in the 1980s playing Clayton Farlow on Dallas.

Howard Keel died on November 7th, 2004 in Palm Desert, California, USA at the age of 85. During his career he starred in about 30 movies. But which one is your favorite?

Not seen any of his movies, so no vote from me this round. ;)

Thanks for letting me know. I can recommend you to check out one of his movies if you like musicals. He was a great musical star before Dallas and I've discovered a couple of gems in the past 10 years or so! ;)

Yes, I'm afraid most of these actors and directors (and very old movies) are too obscure for me.

You don't know what you're missing... ;)
But yeah I get that taste is different which is why I am trying to vary the classic stars/directors with more contemporary stars/directors in this thread and also the different decades, genres and other special rounds. :)

Oh and if @Honkytonkangel hasn't seen this yet I figured I'd tag you since I remember that you've mentioned in another forum how much you love watching Howard Keel's movies... :spinning:

Since I never saw Dallas I had no idea Howard Keel stared in it. I know him as an MGM musicals star of the first half of 50s and he was part of some great musicals from that era. Plus he was HOT, imo one of the hunkiest actors of that decade. Saw 6 of his movies and of course 7 Brides is the best but Kiss Me Kate is a close second.

1. 7 Brides for 7 Brothers (1954)
2. Kiss Me Kate (1953)
3. Show Boat (1951)
4. Annie Get Your Gun (1950)
5. Ride Vaquero! (1953)
6. Lovely To Look At (1952)

Have to see Calamity Jane, it's one of Doris classics plus it has Keel in it.

Thanks @ginnyfan . I'm glad you also enjoy Howard Keel's movies. I saw him on Dallas first and well since you've never watched Dallas I can recommend it to you. It's a classic TV show and since you like classic movies chances are you might like it. I love the characters on Dallas and the acting is great too and the writing for the most part. Actually it's my favorite tv show hands down so anyone who hasn't seen it but decides to give it a chance are in for a real treat! :)

I've only seen one of his films (because Jane Wyman is also in it) so that's my sole vote:

1. Three Guys Named Mike
