Two American comics, The Two Bills (stupid Maher and smarter Burr), spar over Gaza on Maher's Club Random podcast -- discussed here by Jimmy Dore & Co.:

Breaking Points addresses it, too:

I see a lot of Maher's Club Random show (as well as his weekly Real Time show) but it's sometimes hard to get through it: Maher always does all the talking, answers (usually wrongly) his own questions, his guests are always a prop, he thinks he's waaay smarter than he actually is, pretends every five seconds that he's cutting through the bullshit (when he's usually adding to it), and simply has no control over himself at all.

Yeah, he gets the "woke" stuff correct (more or less) and wants a different Democratic nominee in 2024 other than geriatric-demented Biden -- but those things are easy to get straight (although not for everybody). But most of Maher's pro-establishment attitudes, spat out every few seconds, is exhausting.

At least Maher's getting roasted across the Internet for the way he handles his "interview" with Bill Burr.

I used to be a fan of Maher's, but he's become increasingly insufferable over the years. He's clearly not used to the kind of pushback that Bill Burr gave him either.

Maher sounds indistinguishable from Ben Shapiro at this point. They both call out woke culture and they recognize Biden's a disaster, but they also believe that supporting Palestinians is the same as supporting Hamas. Funny how Maher ignores the fact that Israel stole Palestinian land and displaced thousands in the process with his intellectually lazy "stop attacking Israel" line. Maher had a similar exchange with Russell Brand over the Ukraine War. Brand tried pushing back against Maher's claim that Russia's invasion of Ukraine was "unprovoked," but Maher overpowered him. Thankfully, Burr didn't give an inch when Maher tried doing the same thing to him. Looks like Maher met his match.

It's interesting how old school liberals like Maher have become the thing they used to hate. In contrast, far-right figures such as Tucker Carlson and Alex Jones have emerged as the modern-day anti-war voices. I'm not sure if Trump is to blame, but it's incredibly strange seeing how the views of people on the left and right have shifted so drastically.

Yes, on every point. And it is indeed strange.

Iran's president just died in a helicopter crash due to fog. So why is Amy Schumer's uncle already assuring us that there's "no foul play" this soon?

Can't be good.

Anyway, the October 7th attacks have all the signs of being a false flag and have from day one. Although I'm receptive to arguments to the contrary.

So many people have been propagandized to the point that they're incapable of critical thinking. That's why "conspiracy theory" is used so loosely these days. The biggest coincidences are just accepted, and anybody who's skeptical of them is considered a nut job. As Bill Hicks used to say, "Go back to bed America, your government is in control."

The timing of events such as these are usually suspect, and I'd like to remind people of this post you made a month ago:

Apparently, Israel has now attacked Iran directly -- in response to Iran's response a couple of days ago (to the attack on its consulate in Syria -- an act of war to begin with) of slow-motion drones, easily shot down (unlike the supersonic missiles Iran could have used) and aimed at military targets in Israel (and not civilian ones) as a "warning" Israel has chosen not to respect.

I ran across the 60-year cycle thing forty years ago, and it's never let me down since.

Which is scary, as we came the closest to annihilation in the mid-'60s -- but now there is no one in place to cool it all off. The authorities, then and now, seemed to be pushing for oblivion. But who is in power today to keep the lid on the place? (Especially if it means being assassinated? Or, worse, defunded by AIPAC??)

And now the college campuses are blowing up like they did during Vietnam, and the authorities are accusing -- once again -- the kids of being "spoiled" and un-American, and of not understanding the nuance behind the need to genocide a people overseas (only now they're calling the kids "antisemitic" instead of "Communist" -- although "Putin puppet" has become an all-purpose smear, whether it actually makes any sense or not).

And, then as now, the cops are creating 99% of the violence.

Well, for one thing, are you saying that the hostages are being held by the Israelis themselves?

I would think not -- although Israel has a policy of letting their own people, including hostages, die so they can't be used as political tools. And there were lots of lies about Hamas raping women and cooking babies (which the media over here keep pushing).

Some of the hostages claimed they were treated surprisingly well by their captors (which the Israeli establishment didn't like being said) so that sounds like they either were Hamas or really weren't Hamas.

I don't pretend to know.

And Israel received multiple warnings in advance that the October 7th attacks were imminent. And once it happened, Israel has taken full advantage of it and gone way overboard with relish against the citizens of Gaza.

Who knows what lies are going on? I'm just saying that any reasonable person would at least wonder about the false flag possibility. History is littered with them.

Egyptian intelligence say they warned Israel 10 days in advance that something big was going to happen with Hamas, but Israel didn't seem interested.

Did somebody want something to happen? --- these things just can't be ruled out. Iran supposedly funds Hamas (and Hamas was originally an Israeli group) and who funds Iran?

Yes, it's well documented now. That "conspiracy theorist in his basement" Jimmy Dore brought an investigative journalist on his show to discuss it.

The only thing surprising about the Biden Administration sending troops to Israel is that it didn't happen sooner.

People say that Harris shouldn't be judged for the Biden Administration's policies. However, when asked on The View if she would do anything different, she said “There is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of — and I’ve been a part of most of the decisions that have had impact." Of course, I'm sure her ardent supporters will still insist that she's not responsible for this decision that was made a mere 3 months before the next President is sworn in. Harris backtracked slightly, and said she would have a Republican in her administration (unlike Biden.) That puts Liz Cheney's recent full-throated endorsement of Harris in a whole new light, as it now appears like she's jockeying for the position.

This only strengthens my resolve to vote third party. All Trump and Harris seem to care about is doing the bidding of Netanyahu (as well as Zelensky in Harris's case.)

I agree that she can't have it both ways - be part of the decisions and take no responsibilty - but Vance's repeated references to "the Harris administration" take it way too far.

I get it, but it's a campaign tactic that both camps are using. The intent is to make the other side seem directly responsible for what's taking place.

Similarly, the Harris campaign is running an ad with a young woman who says, "Donald Trump overturned Roe v. Wade." It was actually SCOTUS that overturned it.

Trump put conservatives on the court, and Harris says she was included in the decision-making process with Biden. They're involved in the outcome, albeit not directly.
