I'm sure some people are convinced that a Trump victory is the outcome I was hoping for.
Not me-- I didn't want it either, and I'm worried that he'll make this one the last election (as he has said he's gonna do).

It's official now. Trump needed 270 electoral votes to win, and he's currently at 277. Game over.News flash: Trump is going to win.
I understand the fear people have, but I don't think it will happen. Eliminating presidential term limits isn't simple, and I think most Republicans wouldn't want the blowback. Not me-- I didn't want it either, and I'm worried that he'll make this one the last election (as he has said he's gonna do).
By "some people" I'm guessing you mean me. Well, you made it clear that you wanted Kamala Harris to lose and seeing as Trump was the only viable candidate in the race that could have beaten him, why isn't it the outcome you hoped for?I'm sure some people are convinced that a Trump victory is the outcome I was hoping for.
Yes, Trump is currently just 3 electoral votes away from securing the win. He's currently winning the popular vote by over 5 million votes as well, which I didn't expect.
I'm sure this will convince certain people that America is a racist and sexist country. Dems and their supporters always learn the wrong lessons. The fact is most Americans don't want to return to the George W. Bush era. Harris bragged about being endorsed by neocons and did campaign events with Liz Cheney, while progressives were told once again to kick rocks. Why do Dems continue to believe that's a winning strategy? The only reason Biden won in 2020 was because of Trump's mishandling of Covid, but we're in a new era of increasing economic hardships, escalating wars, and a border crisis. Not surprisingly, Harris was unable to convince people that she would solve these problems.
I'm sure some people are convinced that a Trump victory is the outcome I was hoping for. However, the real reason I'm so critical of Democrats is because I saw this coming. If the Dems returned to their anti-war roots and renewed their commitment to helping the poor and the working class, they would likely be winning decisively right new. Sadly, they became a party of wealthy elites and the military industrial complex. How anybody can still believe that the Dems haven't become completely corrupted is beyond me.
Of course, Trump is just as terrible when it comes to serving Israel and wealthy elites. The problem is Dems failed so bad that many people simply voted against them.

Last time Trump was POTUS you spent significantly more of your energy on this forum criticising the Democrats, ignoring a lot of the awful things the pussy-grabbing rapist was saying and doing and often gaving him a free pass for things that you would criticise the Democrats for. It's easy to see why "some people" would think you are happy with the election result.
Says the person who ignores all of the awful things that the war mongering, anti-working class, "We'll pick up two moderate Republicans for every blue-collar Democrat we lose" party does. As I said before, reading comprehension matters. My criticism of the Dems has always been intended to expose how corrupted and repulsive they've become. If they hadn't fought so hard to smear and cheat Bernie Sanders, we would have likely had a president for 8 years that fought to raise the minimum wage, implement universal healthcare, and end the wars. Instead, they chose to become the party of war mongering neocons. As far as I'm concerned, Dick Cheney is even more repulsive and vile than Trump. Still, I never actually wanted a Trump presidency, let alone a second one. Your claim that I "gave Trump a pass" is also bullshit. My criticisms of the things he said and did can easily be found in the archives. I also didn't have a preferred winner as you falsely claimed I did. I simply didn't care who won or lost. Electing Harris or Trump wouldn't have significantly changed anything anymore than electing Obama and Biden did. The rich keep getting richer, the poor keep getting poorer, and the wars just continue escalating.By "some people" I'm guessing you mean me. I guarantee over the next 4 years you will continue to criticise the Democrats at least twice as much as you criticise Trump. Well, at least you were right about the result being apparent within 24 hours.I think Kamala will win comfortably and the result will be apparent within 24 hours, not the drawn out process everyone went through last time. People have recently been getting excited about Iowa but I think they should be more excited about Florida because I think she might even win that state.
Media used to be unbiased, but now all corporate news should be taken with a grain of salt. They all let their biases slip in, and that was clear in their election coverage tonight. One other fear I have is that this (WNBC News 4 New York from 1984, actual news during the time of the Reagan/Mondale election) will be even more considered "fake news," and that right-wing media (FOX, OANN, etc.) will be the only thing allowed...
Is this based on things Trump has actually said or is it just fear mongering from the Dems,
Trump said he'd only be a dictator on day 1, which was a reference to the executive orders he plans to issue. Issuing executive orders is something all presidents have done.Honest question here, because I haven't been following it all that closely, but why do so many people believe that Trump's presidency is going to be a dictatorship, and it's the end of democracy etc? I actually saw someone today on a Facebook page I'm on asking how to go about requesting asylum! And saying they've studied history, they know the signs, and this is about to be Nazi Germany 2.0.
Is this based on things Trump has actually said or is it just fear mongering from the Dems, who it seems would have said or done anything not to have him reelected? I mean, if Trump wanted to be a dictator wouldn't he have done it the first time around? It all sounds very dramatic and a bit hysterical.
Because Trump himself said he wants to rule aa a dictator. His former Chief of Staff, John Kelly, said Trump meets the definition of fascist and would rule like a dictator, if allowed to. Other members of his previous administrative have said similar things. When people tell you who they are, believe them.Honest question here, because I haven't been following it all that closely, but why do so many people believe that Trump's presidency is going to be a dictatorship, and it's the end of democracy etc?
Trump has said he wants to take away the independence of the Department of Justice so he can decide who they prosecute. He also wants similar control over the FBI. He has vowed retribution against his political enemies and said he would even consider using the military against them. Suggesting this is in any way equivalent to anything that Biden has done is nonsense. One fascist leaves the White House, and another one enters. One side is excited about that, and another is extremely upset. Rinse and repeat.
Tell that to the thousands of Palestinians who've been slaughtered by US weaponry (and yes, I know Trump will continue funding the genocide, hence why he's a fascist too.)Trump has said he wants to take away the independence of the Department of Justice so he can decide who they prosecute. What you've described isn't fascism, just policies you disagree with.Tell that to the thousands of Palestinians who've been slaughtered by US weaponry (and yes, I know Trump will continue funding the genocide, hence why he's a fascist too.)
Many past presidents have used the military to commit atrocities around the world, but the department of justice was only used against Trump.
Trump's presidency was plagued by a Russian collusion conspiracy thanks to the Dems, which they couldn't make stick.
The FBI and other intelligence agencies are also guilty of atrocities and are in need of reform. Personally, I don't find them to be institutions worth revering.
Biden and his White House worked in tandem with social media sites (particularly Twitter) to censor his critics.
To suggest that the Biden Administration isn't a fascist regime is mind-boggling nonsense. And don't forget his VP, who said the only thing she'd do different is put a Republican in her administration. Well, she certainly put Republicans in the next Administration, didn't she? That's probably the only campaign promise that she (inadvertently) kept.
Right, I merely disagree with genocide. Militarism and censorship are hallmarks of fascist, authoritarian regimes. Militarism is even in the definition you provided! What you've described isn't fascism, just policies you disagree with.
John Kelly's definition was accurate. He said fascism is “a far-right authoritarian, ultranationalist political ideology and movement characterized by a dictatorial leader, centralized autocracy, militarism, forcible suppression of opposition, belief in a natural social hierarchy” and he went on to provide examples for how Trump met that definition.
Just because you don't like Biden, that doesn't make him a fascist.
