How clever are these trees?

The tractor is in the way so the tree just grows right through it

The railings are in the way, no problem ..

Well, Michelle was always popular with me. I liked her relationship with April and I liked her character overall cause it gave the show something it hadn’t had since Kristen and Katherine. Even Angelica played that villainess role well, even if it didn’t happen.

Glad you are a Michelle fan. :fondle: I didn't mind Angelica too many either. She was a bit over the top but 1985 Dallas was like that.
As did I. I lurked for many, many years. I remember reading the posts of you and others on all the Dallas threads and trying to get up the courage to join. I’d go away for awhile and then return and lurk some more.

I had lurked since the early-2000's, especially when the DVD's of the seasons were being released from 2004-2011. This place was so active at that time. Did you ever see the Ultimate Dallas website?
I think it’s great that you have such an appreciation for the later seasons. As you know, I’m not the biggest fan of them but it’s still all a part of Dallas and I don’t think it’s good to just ignore them like so many do. And there were still some great moments in those later years regardless of it not being the glory days of the show.

I break Dallas into four eras, 1978-1981, 1981-1985, 1985-1989, 1989-1991. They are different but I like them each for differing reasons.
This is comforting! I forgot how good a shot Michelle is.

That's something you may want to remember. ;)
Even more comforting now that we’re friends after reading this.
Indeed!

Yes, and no one ever dared make fun of it until I did that morning. I never understood why that was, until I did it of course. I’m listening to that laugh 24 years and I just couldn’t take it anymore.
Lol!.. sometimes something has got to give and after all those years you finally couldn't hold back any longer

I don’t want that to sound mean cause she’s a good friend and I try never to hurt anyone’s feelings but that laugh needed to be made fun of finally LOL!!
I know what you mean :D

I love being on the road but I do get bored out there sometimes. So I talk to myself. I sing. My singing keeps me awake cause there’s no one alive that can sleep through it, I’m sure. I look at the camera and wave, I talk to the dogs through the window as I’m delivering even though most of them look at me like I’m lunch. It’s a busy job, don’t get me wrong. It’s hectic but it can get very repetitive and I have to find ways to keep it interesting some days. Once in awhile I’ll even run my route backwards if the opportunity presents itself. That usually gets a head shake from my boss.
How very creative of you. Do you flash your lights and pip your horn when you see another of your colleagues out on the road in another van?

I struggle a lot with shyness and always have. But it does have its pluses. I don’t let too many people get too close so the ones that do break through often feel like they’ve accomplished something LOL
I'm sure the ones who get close to you must feel honoured :cool1 . I have a few friends besides Mr L. (Lol) but I would say that only about 3 of them are very close and know me so well, they're the ones I trust the most.

I don’t know why but this really made me laugh! I’m trying to picture you quietly creeping about the site as you put it and I just can’t see the alter ego of The Enforcer doing this. Too funny!
Oh I did creep about  .

I'd log-in and head straight to the BIG BROTHER thread, post a comment and then immediately log-out again hoping no one had noticed I'd been here. How very nervous I was. I was daft to feel like that , but I couldn't help it.

Yes, I notice it’s kind of hard to leave here, isn’t it? Well that’s okay cause I really don’t want to go anywhere anyway.
Good! we are keeping you :D

I agree. You can always sense a little fear when you read the first post of a newbie but that’s normal. I think everyone gets afraid of saying something that might be thought of as sounding stupid.
Yes that's true.

All of my early posts got lost when the old site crashed so I can't read them back .. which might be a good thing because I remember trying to come across as confident and cool, when in fact it was all an act and my comments sounded forced, clunky and odd.

Rereading some of my old posts, I’m saying stupid stuff for over two years now.
Ooo you've a long way to go to catch me up DFF :loony:

I’m partial to trees myself, especially big tall ones with lots of branches and leaves that I can sit under to get some shade every once in awhile. It’s such a nice thing to be able to do on a very hot day, and we’re still having those here.
I can just picture you doing that.

Our trees have started to lose their leaves and its very windy today so the trees look like they're dancing .. well they do to me anyway

Do you take any in to winter over?
Begonias? I did try to keep them in the greenhouse over last winter but they all died. I think the air is too damp here in winter, their waxy leaves don't like it. . Do you keep yours each year?

When do you usually get frost in your area?
Strangely enough our weather lady yesterday mentioned frost, but for further north than us. I think we get our first early morning frosts in October. When do your frosts start?

I understand. The Queen has been such a presence in your nation for seventy years and ready even going back to 1936 when she was heir to the throne. We have nothing like that over here in the USA. She lived an amazing life and even though she is gone she will always be so warmly remembered.
Thank you Michelle, she was very special to many of us. It was impressive to see how the world reacted to her passing, everyone seemed to respect her.

A funny little story - The president of Brazil came over for the Queens funeral and he was so shocked by our petrol prices (which are double then in Brazil) that he filmed himself outside one of our petrol stations to show his people ... I don't know why, but I found this quite amusing.

True but I can (try to) save two. After restless nights seeing the hell these plants lived in I vowed to make an attempt to save one which turned into two. On Thursday after I left work and noticed these badly dehydrated plants who also had a bad infestation of mealybugs. After some time I flagged down a worker in the store to see if I could get a reduced price for plant to two. They wanted $10 a piece which was outrageous even for this hottie so I got both for $10 after point out that they were only worth the value of the ceramic pot. They agreed so I brought them to my Mother's home for a rehabiliation and quarantine.
Oh wow, those Orchids did prey on your mind my friend. I'm not surprised you got a discount considering the poorly state they were in. Good for you for negotiating a decent price.

quarantine.
orchid-HELL092222.jpg

This is Orchid Hell! They were left to die, no love. I bought the two, center with the marked label and the one to the right.
What a sorry sight, it is indeed Orchid Hell

How on earth did the store expect people to buy these? its shocking to see how bad they all look.

One I named Trooper (right on the image) was in better shape with few mealybugs and lessor dehydrated. The other one was light as a feather and severely dehydraded and full of cottony mealybugs. I know I have to put all my orchid knowledge together to save this one I named Sunbeam. #56 and #57 for those who are counting. I gave them a good washing to rid them of visible bugs and gave them a good watering. This weekend I plant to go over them again. They will be in quarantine for some time as I can not risk them infecting my others.
Beautiful names and so appropriate. You have worked hard to give them a real chance Michelle, if anyone can save them .. then its you :)

some time as I can not risk them infecting my others.

Trooper-Sunbeam092222.jpg

Trooper and Sunbeam as they return (hopefully) to life. Sunbeam was so infested with mealybugs it almost has me in tears.
Aw they must be feeling so much better already thanks to your care.

Their leaves look a bit droopy and exhausted which is not surprising when they've been starved of water, but the leaves still do have some gloss ... I think these two lucky Orchids might've been save just in time. Let us know how they are doing Michelle.

Lol!.. sometimes something has got to give and after all those years you finally couldn't hold back any longer
No, I couldn’t. The biggest problem for me is I succumb to peer pressure in that department very easily. One person at work will dare me to make fun of someone for something and I’ll shake my head no, you’re not getting me to do it this time. But then a few more pleas will creep up and DFF is now starting to consider it. Alas, I’ll give in just to entertain the crowd. Of course, when it totally backfires I notice the crowd is nowhere to be found.

Do you flash your lights and pip your horn when you see another of your colleagues out on the road in another van?
I’ll just wave for the most part. My route is so desolate though that I usually don’t see anyone else. I’m kind of out in the middle of nowhere, as my boss likes to put it.

Thank you for saying this! I do hope that’s true. Not really sure what they would say though!

I have a few friends besides Mr L. (Lol) but I would say that only about 3 of them are very close and know me so well, they're the ones I trust the most.
I’ve always said we can probably count our true friends on one hand. I know that’s true in my case. We all have tons of acquaintances but to be able to say someone is a friend is something much more special.

I'd log-in and head straight to the BIG BROTHER thread, post a comment and then immediately log-out again hoping no one had noticed I'd been here. How very nervous I was. I was daft to feel like that , but I couldn't help it.
Well, then I’d say you’ve made a long journey to where you are now cause I can’t picture this site without you! I felt the same way at first. I’d read threads after I joined and I was just dying to join in but I was still so shy. Will I say something stupid? Do I even know what I’m talking about? Will I accidentally insult someone? What if someone disagrees with me? Will I get myself banned because of my stupid sarcastic humor? How do you quote a post?

All of this went through my mind at first but I think that’s normal. So it looks like we both overcame our fears Lashes!

All of my early posts got lost when the old site crashed so I can't read them back .
I remember the crash. I was still lurking then and I remember reading the sadness in everyone’s posts after that because all those great threads were lost. Even as just a lurker, I was very sad as well. All the threads and posts I had enjoyed reading so much were all gone.

Well, then maybe it’s better we can’t read them anymore LOL!!

DFF has some forced, clunky odd ones he’d like to have back but I think we all do. I’ve found quite a few where I see the joke I was trying to make completely bombed. And I‘ve seen a few where I wasn’t even trying to be funny but got a lot of HA-HA reactions, which really confuses me even more.

So, we’re 9 posts away now with about 5 days to go. I’d say we’re in good shape!

Well, it looks like our trees are gonna be dancing soon here as well. We are officially under our first hurricane watch this season. As of right now my city of Boca Raton is out of the cone but you know how it goes. These storms often turn at the last minute so I’m keeping an eye on it and plotting an escape if it comes to that.

Lol!.. your colleagues must think you're the best person to make something funny. Nothing wrong in seeing the funny side of life.
Laughter is very important. Unfortunately I work with a lot of miserable people LOL, so I try to break the ice when I can.

I tend to find strange things funny .. no not 'strange things' exactly. What I mean is I tend to become amused by things which are not intestinally funny, have I confused you? Ooo I know what I mean
No, I know what you mean. I can be amused by things that wouldn’t amuse most other people. I will get some weird looks for some of the things that make me laugh I have to say.

Oh I see. Sometimes when I'm out and about on the roads I notice vans and big trucks sometimes flashing their lights at each other and once I've worked out what it is they're flashing at, I always think how friendly they are to each other.
I often wave to the competitors. I figure we’re doing the same job out in this heat so we might as well be civil. Before the cameras were in the trucks I’d offer to race them to our next stop but those days are gone now unfortunately.

Omg! Have they put you in the desert? :yikey:
You’re not that far off! Actually, they have me out in West Boca Raton in a place called Loggers Run. It’s very built up. There are tons of homes but it’s very far from the business district so it’s extremely quiet. I’m the furthest one from the station so I have a long drive out to my route and back every day. But I have to say it’s the best route I’ve ever had. The people are wonderful! It would take a lot to get me off of this route.

Yes that's true. I don't do Facebook but I know people who do and will say they have 500 friends or whatever, but they don't really have that many real friends
My whole family begs me to do Facebook all the time but it’s just not for me. I’d rather have my small inner circle in my life that I know I can trust than go on there. I couldn’t deal with that many people without getting overwhelmed.

This reminds me of the time when the old site had one of its temporary crashes and was down for about 48 hours. I was so on edge because I thought I might've been banned, I hadn't been here long and I didn't understand the message I was getting when I tried to log-in . That is so funny!! And the same exact thing happened to me after I joined. The site was down one morning and I didn’t understand what I was reading so I’m sitting here thinking about what I must’ve said to offend someone. I felt so bad! I kept wondering if I misspelled a word and accidentally cursed or something.

Oh it was such a shock to lose everything and far, far worse for the Members who had been here years
I’m sure it was! I can only imagine how they felt cause I remember browsing one day as usual and all the threads were just gone. I wasn’t sure what had happened until I started reading the new posts and everyone was so upset!

But, it shows the love for this forum with so many people re-registering and started making a new history :)
Exactly! What happened was so unfortunate but life does go on and we keep moving forwards. Will it ever be the same? No, it’s just different and we make the best of it.

and thankfully it didn't put new members like you off from joining.
No, I returned to lurk very soon thereafter LOL!! And of course eventually I joined, which I quickly realized I should’ve done a long, long, long time ago!

I had one start to grown in my Poinsettia pot last Winter that was later replanted outside. My Mother brings some in to winter-over. My paternal Grandmother would have them indoor all year round, that's how I know of them. Maybe dampness if a factor in their longevity.

Do you bring in any flowers to winter-over?

Strangely enough our weather lady yesterday mentioned frost, but for further north than us. I think we get our first early morning frosts in October. When do your frosts start?

That's about the same here. Usually by Halloween we have had out first frost.
Thank you Michelle, she was very special to many of us. It was impressive to see how the world reacted to her passing, everyone seemed to respect her.

He's up for re-election next month and I think it has something to do with his domestic policy on fuel production and how it's less expensive in Brazil and how heavily taxed fuel is in the UK and Europe as a whole. Of course you in Europe get more social programs from the taxes. It's a big government, small government argument. We have that here in the US. Fuel is more expensive in California or Hawaii than in Georgia or Missouri. At least that's how I took this.
Oh wow, those Orchids did prey on your mind my friend. I'm not surprised you got a discount considering the poorly state they were in. Good for you for negotiating a decent price.

I did what I could to win their freedom. I had to do something.
What a sorry sight, it is indeed Orchid Hell

How on earth did the store expect people to buy these? its shocking to see how bad they all look.

I don't know. A little love and attention they could have sold for at least the asking discount price than surely heading to the bin. I had to capture the scene to remember where they came from. The mealybugs really made them unsellable. I took them to the basement sink and washed them off as good as I could. No one would by a plant with pest on them, except me. :yikey:
Beautiful names and so appropriate. You have worked hard to give them a real chance Michelle, if anyone can save them .. then its you :)
I saw them on Sunday in quarantine and they looked okay. Still wilted but their roots are green which is good. Sunbeam has damage on her leaves but I am hopeful. Trooper is in better condition. Both have to be repotted when they get more hydrated to rid them them mealybugs that may have gone into their media.

Aw they must be feeling so much better already thanks to your care.

They surely do. It could have been May or June since Sunbeam had her last watering. I'm taking it slow with them not to shock them. Just some gentle care and love.

Their leaves look a bit droopy and exhausted which is not surprising when they've been starved of water, but the leaves still do have some gloss ... I think these two lucky Orchids might've been save just in time. Let us know how they are doing Michelle.

I'm optimistic. I didn't see any areas to get too alarmed over. I'll see them this weekend.

Now for another orchid story and this crazy orchid maniac that I have become. I went to the grocery store which always had orchids and there were no signs of my flower lady. I go in early so I do miss her from time to time. I noticed in the rear of the store four discount orchids in the "Last Chance" shelf. 75% off, $6.24 so I had to get two.

orchids092622.jpg

Images of my latest orchid rescue from shelf, cart/trolley to read car seat.

White is Eden and Yellow is Capri. Now I have to tap the brakes on my orchid buying for a bit. Four within a week is my limit, yes I have a limit. Just one of my hobbies as crazy as it is.

I’m not sure why Michelle gets so much hostility thrown her way. I guess most people just don’t like the later years cause so much of the original cast was gone and the actors that were there seem to catch the brunt of it.

True!
Angelica was probably better suited for Dynasty but I have to admit to enjoying her despite the fact that she seemed so out of place in Dallas. I especially liked her when she came back at the end of the season and started knocking people off. She was fun!

Indeed she was. I loved her outrageous outfits.
Yes, I did see the Ultimate Dallas site. I didn’t buy the DVDs until about late 2013 though. That was such a treat at the time cause I had never seen much of the show before the 1983-84 season other than some reruns here and there over the years.

That is interesting. Every six months during the season by season released on DVD this place was very active. Same too when the TNT Dallas was on. I think this site originally started in 1997 and War of the Ewings came out right after that. I wish I was here to hear the input on that.

Before the DVD's came out it was hard to see episodes. Ultimate Dallas did have a scene section as YouTube didn't exist yet. Wow, you never saw the Jock years until later. 1983-'84 was a high water mark of the series so you got in at the right time.
They all have their strengths and flaws. When I started watching it was early 1984 so then up until 1987 was my favorite time of the show. But then when I went back years later and watched the older episodes I have to say that now I’m probably partial to 1978-81, although if you asked me which era was the best overall I’d say 1981-85. From Kristen’s death to Bobby’s was arguably the best 4 years of prime time TV. I don’t think the later years are as bad as most people remember. After over a decade of being on the air a lot changes with a show. People come and go and it’s hard to stay on top for 13 seasons. I think a lot of people, including myself, can be overly critical with those later seasons.
No show can stay on top forever, even 14 seasons. Age ... time killed Dallas.

One of my favorite things about that season was seeing what Angelica was going to wear next. She definitely had a unique style. I was hoping she would return later on at some point but obviously that didn’t happen.

Yes, I remember cause I was lurking for most of it LOL!! I’ll never forget all the high hopes for TNT Dallas. I know it didn’t work out the way we would’ve liked but at least it got everyone talking about Dallas again.

Before the DVD's came out it was hard to see episodes. Ultimate Dallas did have a scene section as YouTube didn't exist yet. Wow, you never saw the Jock years until later. 1983-'84 was a high water mark of the series so you got in at the right time.
I remember watching reruns of the older episodes back in the early 90s. I don’t recall which network it was but they would air episodes during the day. I’d watch after school and it was during that time that I saw a lot of the earlier episodes that I had never seen before. It was definitely something different seeing J.R. shot, Jock alive and a different Jenna. I just didn’t realize how much had happened before I started watching in 1984.

No show can stay on top forever, even 14 seasons. Age ... time killed Dallas
I agree. Even though we knew the show was on borrowed time in 1991, that was still quite shocking for me watching that last episode. I just couldn’t believe it was the end. So many of my favorite shows went off the air during that time now that I think about it. It made me realize that growing up could be much more disappointing than I had hoped.

Take care of yourself @DallasFanForever I hope Hurricane Ian doesn't cause you any grief. You and your fellow Floridians are in my thoughts.
Thank you Michelle! That is very kind of you and much appreciated. It hasn’t been too bad so far, at least not in the southeastern part of the state. It’s been a lot of rain and some wind but overall not bad. Of course, I have family in other parts of the state that are bracing for worse conditions and I’m worried about them. We’ll see what happens. It’s touch and go right now.

Looks like the next post will put us over our goal.

Thank you Biggie! We got lucky in my part of the state but the west coast and central Florida had it a lot worse. I’m seeing the pictures of all the damage now and it’s pretty bad. Unfortunately it’s not over as it’s about to move into Georgia and the Carolinas and keep working it’s way north.

One of my favorite things about that season was seeing what Angelica was going to wear next. She definitely had a unique style. I was hoping she would return later on at some point but obviously that didn’t happen.

Indeed, she was just a part of Pam's dream.

Yes, I remember cause I was lurking for most of it LOL!! I’ll never forget all the high hopes for TNT Dallas. I know it didn’t work out the way we would’ve liked but at least it got everyone talking about Dallas again.
So true. It was nice coming here after an episode dropped to get the reaction of the fans. It really is a shame it, TNT Dallas, didn't work out. I just can't see how the franchise ever returns at this point.

About actually seeing Digger, well both Diggers and another Gary. You got in at the apex of the series. "Who Shot JR" really started the whole cliffhanger story telling style in TV from what I remember.
I agree. Even though we knew the show was on borrowed time in 1991, that was still quite shocking for me watching that last episode. I just couldn’t believe it was the end. So many of my favorite shows went off the air during that time now that I think about it. It made me realize that growing up could be much more disappointing than I had hoped.

And when it ended in '91 one didn't know of JR lived or died at his own hand and we could have never known. It was such a habit of seeing Dallas on Friday nights if was so strange when it left that May. No reruns or Youtube back then.
I hope all is well my friend. It seems as if so much of the state was terribly effected. It's going to be a long clean-up. Have you lost power at any time?

Looks like the next post will put us over our goal.

So..........................take it away next person
We at least made out goal on time. October is usually the month of Dark Lashes, beware my friend.

That darned dream!

Me neither. I can’t see a Dallas without J.R. in it. Maybe they try a total reboot one day but I think it’s a long shot at this point.

I wish I could remember the whole Who Shot J.R. craze but I was just too young. My first cliffhanger memories are Bobby being shot. I remember my grandparents and my mom watching every Friday night and I really had no interest yet. Then one Friday night I finally sat down and started watching and that was it. DFF was born.

And when it ended in '91 one didn't know of JR lived or died at his own hand and we could have never known. It was such a habit of seeing Dallas on Friday nights if was so strange when it left that May. No reruns or Youtube back then.
When they announced the first reunion movie I was thoroughly confused. I couldn’t understand how they were going to bring back J.R. cause I assumed he had shot himself in the final episode. It seemed like the perfect full-circle ending but I guess there was more money to be made.

Friday nights were suddenly very strange in the fall of 1991 though! There was definitely a gaping hole left in the CBS lineup.

I hope all is well my friend. It seems as if so much of the state was terribly effected. It's going to be a long clean-up. Have you lost power at any time?
By some miracle we never lost power here. We did have some scattered tornados and a ton of rain, which led to some flooding. It was really bad for a couple of days but nothing like you see in the other parts of the state. Those images on the west coast of the state are images I’m never going to forget.

We at least made out goal on time
Shall we set a new one for October? Any ideas?
