Lashes, I can’t lie to you. My goal today was to go do my Christmas shopping. And let’s just say, well, let’s just say the goal wasn’t met. CDF barely got off the couch today.
Does this mean you haven't yet bought anything? :shifty: ... nooooo don't tell me, I will never sleep for worrying .

I can’t see you ever posting something that someone would take the wrong way.
I think I have done, especially when I first joined this forum and people didn't know me or what to make of me ....

I think quite a few still don't know what to make of me

On the other hand, I have accidentally ruined lives on some of the Dallas threads. I notice jokes are harder to get over over there.
I never post on there, but just between us ... I know nothing much about Dallas.

But also a little concerning because sometimes I don’t even get my own sense of humor Lashes.

I think laughter is something we all need. Nothing makes me happier than making someone laugh, even when I don’t feel like laughing myself. It’s the best thing people can do for one another in this world.
Never was a truer word ever said :D

They may be an old married couple. I forgot but Liberty is older than Freedom.
Oh of course, I'd forgotten that too, she's quite a bit older isn't she. I wonder how many babies she's had altogether, during the course of her life?

LOL! :floor:Beaks can't be too romantic to have.
They must feel a bit uncomfortable :giggle:

More eye-to-eye contact from our love birds ...

Poor things have to sleep standing but I guess they are accustomed to it. It's great to have this camera angle.

Perhaps they prefer to sleep standing up? I can't think of anything worse than having to sleep that way, but they have a comfy nest again now, but they still choose to sleep on a branch.

Here they are together peering in the dark ...

Some more nest construction again today.

Aw I love these photos, sticks everywhere

I didn't capture this shot, I stole it from the site , but I adore this image of an eagle in flight.....

I just noticed on the other Farm Country, Lipstick and Guy webcam a photo of the tree and nest but still not active cameras.

Wow! now that's a beautiful tree, absolutely stunning! :bowing ... What a fantastic view to see the nest so high up from this angle.

I never knew houses were that close.
Nor did I. I have heard a dog (or dogs) barking, but I just thought the sound was travelling from a far off home.

It does seem The Enforcer has done a good job keeping the gremlins at bay this year. She needs a Christmas gift.
She has scared off the gremlins for now, but those pesky gremlins are no doubt laying in wait and ready to cause havoc on here again :a2:

Her/your tolerance is all I need. I am curious how you ask her?
I will think of the question and then The Enforcer plants an answer in my brain :loon:

LOL, are you sure it's not January 5th, 2202?
No I'm not sure . Lol!

You should know better than to tread on my supreme hotness dear 'Lashes. :D
:funny:

OMG, you need to ignore their fashion trend advice my friend. Those pesky aliens are not meant for this world and it's fashion.
Yes, but they bring unique trends with them. I don't mind losing the odd body part to look on trend, I have my hot image to think of :danc:

No rush, just curious to see her and to see what name she has.
DIGITAL-CAMERA.jpg

As you can see she has a teeny tiny friend to keep her company.

I had lunch with one of my friends yesterday and she brought the tiny Poinsettia for me. As for names?...for the small one I was thinking of Little Tallullah ... I have no idea why?

Any suggestions for a name for my larger Poinsettia are more than welcome :ty:

I usually put my fingers into the soil and if it's dry I give them a good watering but not too much to soak the pot.
Right :gotcha: I will start doing this Michelle, thank you.

My ailing #28 orchid Venus is on that Tower. She is doing well after nearly dying of stem rot in early September.
Ooo well done to Venus , this is good news :bravo1:

Daffy Michelle always says "good morning lovies" each morning when I see them and turn on their LED lights.
You're not so daft my friend. I've been known to talk to plants too.

I'm usually saying .. "so do you need more water or not?" or "oh no you've dropped another leaf"

This poinsettia is by far the best looking this year. It was covered from mid-September until mid- November with a black trash bag. It's great this plant as seeing it's forth Christmas.
I admire your Mother and you too for the dedication you give to your Poinsettias and making the effort to get those beautiful red leaves appearing.

I think you've hit the nail on the head when you say ... "no one really knew what to say" ...
I’m afraid some of them still don’t LOL

but sometimes even words are not effective
Very true! They’re good to hear but let’s face it they only do so much.

Which is why I'm so thankful you had some people who were patient with you :) they obviously care about you very much.
Thank you Lashes! I appreciate you saying that

I'm sure you must be a great help to anyone who is going through tough times because you do understand.
I try to listen to people when they need it. My phone rings all evening after I get home from work and there are times I answer even when I’m too tired to talk. If it’s people that I think just want to complain about work then I’m probably not gonna answer but people with real problems that want to talk, then that’s a different story. I try to remember how they were all there for me when I needed it the most.

One day all my colleagues and I were terribly upset about something which had happened to someone we knew and I always remember this Manager coldly saying .. "get a grip"
I know a few people like this and it’s quite sad. When someone says that to me I just tune them out. I’m a sensitive person so insensitivity is just not tolerable to me.

We've had lots of reports about the tornadoes and I've been truly shocked at the images. Mr L asked me where can people run to escape it and keep safe? and I had no answer, the weather is so powerful. My heart goes out to all those who are affected.
Unfortunately tornadoes come with very little warning. At least with a hurricane you may have a few days to prepare. I guess a lot of people have storm cellars and basements. Unfortunately we have neither in Florida. The only option for us is going to a shelter or just leaving if there’s time.

Does this mean you haven't yet bought anything?
I’m afraid that is correct my friend. Let’s see, my new goal is to finally go shopping Saturday since I’m off. And I really have no choice but to go this time cause it will be my last chance before Christmas. I just hope CDF still feels that way when he wakes up Saturday morning.

:shifty: ... nooooo don't tell me, I will never sleep for worrying
No pressure on CDF!

But also a little concerning because sometimes I don’t even get my own sense of humor Lashes.
Yeah, I get this. Humour is very subjective and I sometimes question mine! God only knows what the recipient is thinking.

I’m glad it did because sometimes I hold my finger over that Post Reply button for a few seconds and I think “Is this one funny or will DFF be the only one laughing this time?”
I've also do the same, and consider if it's a good idea to post, believe it or not! Circling back to review, I think to myself. sometimes " yeah, probz shudda not posted that, probz makes sense to/ humours only me"!
I sometimes post something and then worry a bit that no one takes it the wrong way. Y
I'm yet to see any comments posted by you that could be misconstrued in any fashion. Tell me your secrete....

I would get notes left for me telling me not to get sick and to please stay safe.
I'm not surprised to read this, and believe you without compunction. Keep doing what you are doing, you're something right. There's a chair at the kitchen table waiting for you. Bring the eagle, the wise owl of the oak tree is saying.

Good because you’re a part of this thread too, like it or not!!

Yeah, I get this. Humour is very subjective and I sometimes question mine! God only knows what the recipient is thinking.
It’s always the jokes I don’t expect to get over that often do well. Yet when I plan to say something funny and I’m sure it’s gonna be a hit then those are the jokes that quite often bomb.

I've also do the same, and consider if it's a good idea to post, believe it or not! Circling back to review, I think to myself. sometimes " yeah, probz shudda not posted that, probz makes sense to/ humours only me"!
My biggest problem with my sense of humor is it goes to my head. If I know someone usually laughs at my jokes then I tend to go overboard cause I’ll think to myself “Well they laugh at everything else I say so why won’t they laugh at this one? They have to!” So I can overdo it sometimes.

Thank you Biggie! I do appreciate this. But instead of a chair at the kitchen table I can use a stretcher instead. CDF is going on two bad ankles right now but only a select few know this. I had to be carried a little this week by my help and it kind of bothers me but when you need to lean on someone, then I guess you need to forget ur pride and just lean a little. So I leaned for a couple of days. Today I stopped leaning and now I’m wishing I hadn’t LOL

Leave that with me, I'll get it sorted by time you are casting a shadow at the table. We all require someone to lean on at some point. I've leaned and done the leaning. That said pride often gets in the way. Voice of experience.
Good because you’re a part of this thread too, like it or not!!
I'm touched by words. I always read this thread. If not often post here. Never knew how interesting eagle watching could be.
My biggest problem with my sense of humor is it goes to my head.
I'm guilty of the same. comments seem hilarious in my head, whilst the reader probably just rolled their eyes... Really I must come across as unhinged going by the nonsense I don't filter out :ear::haha:

Yes, that pride stuff sure does make it difficult sometimes. I had to be talked into taking it easier this week. But I listened and now I’m glad I did.

I'm touched by words. I always read this thread.
My two favorite people on TT are on this thread and that’s the reason I love it so much. Just keep that between us though because CDF has an image to protect in the Last Post thread.

Me neither. I’ve definitely learned a lot about them on this thread.

I think we’re all guilty of that. But even if a joke bombs, I won’t give up. I’ll keep telling it until someone, anyone, finally laughs at it. No matter how much of a failure it is, I have to get one laugh out of it before I move on.

You're a good friend. I think its rare these days for someone to really listen to someone who might be going through a tough time. I'm guilty myself of sometimes jumping into the middle of someone talking, when all the other person needs is a listening ear, not advice or platitudes, just someone to understand and be there for them. Like I said, you're a good friend to be able to do this CDF. :)

I’m a sensitive person so insensitivity is just not tolerable to me.
Me too. It often depends on my mood though, because sometimes I can be over-sensitive which is when I give myself a good talking too and tell myself "to grow the heck up!"

Do you know, I often forget that absolutely anyone can read this thread ( I don't mean you Biggie because you're a part of this thread ). Its like I'm in my own little world when I chat on here. I wonder what the lurkers (if their are any) think of us? :loon:

I go through that at times too, although not as much as I used to do.

I'm yet to see any comments posted by you that could be misconstrued in any fashion.
My main problem is that I have a very dry (often sarcastic) sense of humour and I'm aware that not everyone 'gets it' and it could come across as me being blunt or dismissive of someone .. .. which I would never want to happen. Which I think is why I use a lot of emojis :hat:

Never knew how interesting eagle watching could be.
I'm so glad you enjoy the eagles :D

Since Mistletoe and I started watching them I've become obsessed and check the nest every day. Those eagles have the ability to touch me, make me laugh and even make me cry , they're wonderful.

We are kindred spirts. Circled back earlier and couldn't find any earthly reason why I posted that nonsense... But I'm wetting myself again after further thoughtful review and... It's gold! It's inspired, I was weaving some magic in the darkest hours of the night. I love Baileys

I do think about it. Luckily the caller ID tells me all I need to know about whether I should answer or not LOL

You're a good friend. I think its rare these days for someone to really listen to someone who might be going through a tough time.
The truth is, I do it cause of my mother. I wasn’t there for her at the end the way I should’ve been and I don’t say that with any guilt anymore. I just mean that when I know people are down now it makes me think of her and what I couldn’t do for her. I knew she was unhappy but I didn’t realize the extent of it. So I guess helping people now when I can makes me feel better about her a little. I hope that wasn’t too deep and sad and hopefully it made some sense.

I'm guilty myself of sometimes jumping into the middle of someone talking, when all the other person needs is a listening ear,
I can be guilty of the same thing. But like I said my experience has made me a much better listener. I think we jump in just to help sometimes. But you’re right, all they might need is a sympathetic ear.

Like I said, you're a good friend to be able to do this CDF. :)
Thank you Lashes! Oh crud I don’t want this to get sad again cause I’m afraid sometimes I bring others down with this stuff but I also try to be a good friend because of what happened to me two years ago when I had my emergency surgery. I’ll just never forget how sick I was and the loneliness of that time and how stressed I was. Believe it or not this idiot imbecile moron schmuck was going to go get his surgery and not tell anyone, not a soul until after it was over. But at the last minute I broke down and told everyone; my family, friends, coworkers, and I’ll just never forget what they all did for me. I remember one person in my family showing up at my doorstep the morning of the surgery to take me to the hospital, my best friend at work texting me she loved me right before I went in, all the calls I received after the surgery from everyone, the people stopping by to see me, you just don’t forget those things. So I think that’s part of the reason I try to lend an ear to all of them now. I can’t forget those things

Well as you can see from the posts above so can I LOL

I’ve never tried telling myself “To grow the heck up” though. If it’s okay with you I’m going to borrow that for next time but I think I’ll change it up a little and substitute a different word for “Heck.” Maybe the use of profanity will make CDF listen to himself better.

I'd never heard of 'storm cellars' before, it must be terrifying to know you might need it one day.
We had them in Upstate New York. But every time we had a storm we never used it. We never used it one time now that I’m thinking about it so I’m really not sure why they called it that.

Am I right to feel confident that you now have all your gifts bought and wrapped?
Well, that was the plan Lashes. I’m not quite done yet but I bought most of them. I need to sneak out of work early one night before Christmas Day to finish up. And I have wrapped what I did buy so far so we’re getting there.

I'm dreadful at telling jokes. Mr L .. is great with joke telling, but I can repeat exactly the same joke as him and all I get back is a polite smile and not the hilarious laughter he does. So I've given it up
I see. It’s all in the delivery I guess. I can’t tell a joke to save my life either. My humor comes more from just observing situations and making comments. I’m much better with that. But telling a joke? Can’t do it.

We are thinking about putting the Eagles in a separate thread (maybe in the Lounge) for the next season early next year, as we are aware that Eagle talk might be distracting on here.

Or perhaps we should just keep inserting them on this thread? not sure what to do.

It's on this thread I decided to understand how to use the snip the text and put in the box things. Interesting fact...right?
It is an interesting fact Biggie, because I myself have practised certain computerish things on this thread too. Its a great thread for not being afraid of laughing at ourselves and if it wasn't for this thread I would still have no idea how to link photos (the eagles) onto here. So as you see, this thread is educational too :D
