How long will it take us to get to 10,000 posts?

I’ve definitely learned a lot about them on this thread by listening to you two. I’ve also learned a lot about cars, avatars, food, and I’ve learned a lot of new words thanks to @Biggie. I gotta say it’s quite the informative thread!

I hope you learned a lot about hotness as well. I'm the ultimate instructor on that subject. :obvious:

Okay, so I’m reading some concern here that we’ve slowed down on this thread. Let’s see..........................

Post #1 was on September12, 2016. That’s before DFF was born but I was lurking. Now this is post #4883 and that took about 5 years and 8 months roughly so at this pace we would hit the magical post of 10,000 sometime in late 2028, is that right? But I have a feeling that once we get to 5,000 that the second half will go much faster.

We did this calculation a few years ago and we thought it would take until sometime in 2024 to reach 10,000. Now we are four years behind. It's not really about the goal but having fun along the way. It's hard to believe this thread is over five years old.

So, we’re 117 posts away from the halfway point. I notice I’m starting my sentences with “So” again and I always say how much I hate that. I won’t correct it though cause obviously that’s who I am. But I digress.

Regardless of DFF’s grammatical errors, I think we should set a goal for the 5,000 mark and then take it from there. 5,000 by July 15 maybe? Is it doable?

Comments? Concerns? Opinions? A straight jacket for DFF perhaps?
Soooo ;) ..... about 115 in less then two months I think is doable. Since @Long Lashes alternative persona would be triggered if we don't make the goal I'll await her reply as well. We should throw a half-way party if we make it.

Yes, the word "chat" has been added. Is that right?
Bingo! ... I just wondered if anyone else had noticed. It seems that this new title gives us a free reign to chat even more , if this is possible  .

Big thanks to the wonderful Admin on here who changed the title for us :bravo:

Yes, Amsterdam. It's a sight that I'll always hold dear. Just breathtaking.
You must've been in the right place at the the exact right moment to see such a wonderful sight. One day, I will drag Mr L with me to see the fields for myself, luckily Amsterdam is close enough to do over a weekend.

Yes, I know exactly what you mean because I get this quite often. Right now it’s Almond Joy. I can’t pass a register in the supermarket without buying one.
Almond Joy? .. rushes off to google :brb:

I'm back again..Lol

.. is this the one?
almond-joy-candy-bar.jpg

Ooo this sounds yummy, I love coconut and almonds, I'm frustrated because I don't think we have this chocolate bar over here.

It’s become a running joke amongst the cashiers. One of them stopped ringing me up the other day and stared at me. I asked her what’s wrong and she goes didn’t you forget your Almond Joy? I said oh yeah, you’re right!

I do hope no one tries to steal one right now cause I know my picture will be posted in every supermarket in the county before sunrise.
Lol! .. you will definitely be the number one suspect DFF .

I haven’t seen those here but I will be on the lookout. They look really good!
If you like liquorice then you'll enjoy these.

I bought another packet today and right now its calling to me from the back of the cupboard where I've hidden them

So what does redesigning a garden entail? I bet it’s a lot of work!
Well, I had this idea the other week and thought we could do with another patio nearer to the house, the one we presently have is at the other end of the garden. I also decided we need to lob down a lot of our hedges to make them look neater, also, at the front of the house we've decided to make the front lawn shorter by adding some pebbles and pots at one end ... and then .. ... on and on it goes.

I’ve also learned a lot about cars, avatars, food, and I’ve learned a lot of new words thanks to @Biggie. I gotta say it’s quite the informative thread!
Me too DFF. This thread is a real education to me, I learn something new every time i read the latest posts. Without this thread I'd never have stated watching our fab eagles (thank you lovely Michelle), or have met so many interesting people.

It was quite the odyssey! Hate, jealousy, selfishness, drama, miscommunication, laughter, fear, love, confusion, injuries, and that was all just on Monday.
:eek:mg: that sounds like the worse Monday ever. I guess in a strange way it keeps life interesting, I just hope no one was rude to you or that you got injured. I hope this Monday was calmer.

The only thing I’ve learned about hotness is that I possess the most of it on TT

I’m so sorry but this cracked me up Michelle!! Four years behind LOL. Oh that’s so funny!!

It's not really about the goal but having fun along the way. It's hard to believe this thread is over five years old.
Well, I have to agree with that. The fun we have over here means more than the goal. And no matter how far ahead or behind we are, this is still a thread that will be 6 years old in a few months and that’s a lot to be proud of!

I’m not a big liquorice fan but I’d still try them if I ever see them here. I do know you mean business when you start moving stuff to the back of the cupboard Lashes so they must be good!

Wow!! This certainly sounds like a lot of work but I’m sure it will all turn out great. You’re making me feel guilty now cause I have a lot to do outside right now and I’ve been putting it all off due to so many different (and lame) excuses; it’s too hot, I’m tired from work, bla, bla, bla. I’ve used them all lately.

Me too DFF. This thread is a real education to me, I learn something new every time i read the latest posts. Without this thread I'd never have stated watching our fab eagles (thank you lovely Michelle), or have met so many interesting people.
You summed it up perfectly my friend. I feel the same way about this thread and the people involved in it.

:eek:mg: that sounds like the worse Monday ever. I guess in a strange way it keeps life interesting, I just hope no one was rude to you or that you got injured. I hope this Monday was calmer.
No, I gotta say I don’t get much rudeness. And even when I do I can deal with that. That’s what humor and sarcasm are for. I do get injuries though LOL but luckily it’s never been a serious one. Today was one of the easiest days I’ve ever had. Not sure why but I’ll take it!

I salute your dedication to this thread and our ultimate goal DFF :hat:

Thank you, cause knowing me I probably will! Someone showed me a text I sent them recently and she said that thanks to me she now plays a new game with her family called “Count the So’s in DFF’s texts.” I said it can’t be that bad, can it? I didn’t believe her so I counted them myself and I gotta say it was pretty bad!

I hope everyone is having a nice Monday (so) far!!

Have you performed this delicate operation yet Michelle? I have a feeling your tough Streetie will be with you for many years.

I did last Thursday, 19 May. All three, Streetie, Princess and Duchess were pruned. They needed it. I hate cutting my plants but I know it's for their own good.

Yes, I think I've got used to the Orchids doing this too. I do wonder though? if any other Orchid owners think their plant has died when all they're doing is having a rest :yikey:

One of my two has now started growing new buds again, so it looks like I will have some blooms to report on here about soon.

Many people don't do the research needed to care for orchids. There are some basic knowledge needed to understand their care or else one can kill their plant. I've run into this when talking to others who have had orchids. Some think they bloom all the time. I have a few that have never rebloomed, mostly due to recovery from a trama.

Speaking of that my Sunburst, orchid #4, has rebloomed after two years of recovery.

sunburst052422.jpg
She a mini as compared to the blooms of Tippie to the left.
Ooo that's very interesting. I often wondered what the real colour would be, I'm sure your Bunny is happier being au naturel instead of a fake colour :gotcha:

Her blooms are white and she is bloom like crazy. I'll take a photo of Bunny soon.
I suppose we have slowed, but it just means that we will have to stay on here for more years than we original thought
No doubt. More senseless talking.
Barney is another one who has slowed down, thank you for asking. He is still full of bounce but tires far more than he used to do, I think he forgets he's no longer a puppy with endless energy. As for the garden? oh my goodness I've set myself a massive task at trying to move things around, I think I've taken on more than I can chew, it seemed like a good idea at the start .
You must be hard at work getting you garden together for Summer. Is everything in place?

BTW, have you revisited the Doggie Cafe from a few years ago?

Lol! .. no need to look embarrassed my friend. Those sure are lucky plants to have been rescued and given a second chance.

I have yet to name all that I have rescued in the past three months. There is Moxy and Roxy, Marbles and Muffin and Polara and Omni, plus three others. Moxy is having some issues due to the moss she was in so I'm trying to save her. All were given to be by the lady at the grocery store as no one would buy them for Easter or Mother's Day.
You have a big heart when it comes to these :)
I think I'm getting more sensitive as I get older. I appreciate nature more than ever.
Oh what a great idea that way, I'm sure your Mother must've loved it. Now if only you lived closer to me then you could pass some on to me too :D
I wish you lived closer as I would have given you as many orchids as you could handle. I would also loved to have met Orkie as that orchid started it all with your talk of her many years ago. I don't know if I flew to England if I could bring plants with me.

I had a sad nature story today while I was taking a morning walk in my town. I came across a Catbird lying on the street sidewalk. At first I thought it was dead but it's eyes opened when I approached.

catbird052422.jpg
It may have been hit by a car as it moved when I got close but I didn't want to startle it, for it to jump into the road. I really couldn't do much as the local humane societies don't care for wild animals. I am hoping it just was stunned and could return to nature. I surely don't have the means to care for an injured bird. It was sad to see but with so much Spring activities with the birds I'm not surprised. If this Catbird was caring for it's young I would be ever more sad. Nature can be cruel.

You must've been in the right place at the the exact right moment to see such a wonderful sight. One day, I will drag Mr L with me to see the fields for myself, luckily Amsterdam is close enough to do over a weekend.
Between 1999 and 2007 I went to Amsterdam 10 times. For reasons that are beyond my comprehension, considering we always landed at Schiphol airport, I was blessed to witness the spectacle on my last visit.

I can only recommend visiting Amsterdam. The flower market is something to behold, canal tours around the city I found enlightening and there are some really nice places to eat and chilled bars to quench your thirst and people watch. .....*Clears throat, big breath, final look towards the heavens*..... Meet me under the Lightening Tree and I'll tell you about the red light district and the coffee shops and adventures a humble sinner (now reformed) found there.

Finally, the passage of time doesn't diminish the ghastly reality she faced at a tender age, she took it upon herself to document the daily ebb and flow of life whilst in their hiding place, Anne Frank wouldn't live to see her diary published and become more that she'd imagine. I made a point of visiting the museum that now sits where her hiding place was. Reason being that I thought it important to acknowledge Anne Frank, to let her know that I heard what she was saying.

Sobering but worth visiting The Anne Frank Museum.

Gotta say that my week was fun and frankly long overdue due Covid and travel restrictions.

Finally got to have a sit down with a gentleman I have known since time began. ..if time in winter 1987. The sun down 'til sun up 'til sun down session was.... yeah fun session in Gloucester.

Then a gentleman who I hold in high regards and a gentleman of the highest order in every measurable way in all human logic and understanding, that'll be me, hit up Friar Street in Reading for an afternoon of bottomless Prosecco followed by a libations in some of Friar Street's best seedy dive bars.

Now the serenity and solitude of my home town in the small hours....the darkest hours before the dawn cast spells during sessions.

Public facing masks are dropped, defensive and self-protectctive guards are lowered. Friends sitting at the table actual talking. The war stories and tall tales of whatever have been served up and not challenged, because the BS needs out before the clock is ticking tomorrow's time.

Three days in Gloucester and Friar Street, all that happened under the Lightning Tree. Break bread, blaze up and listen. The opportunity to ruminate on and memorialize meandering thoughts... courtesy of the small hours. If you follow the hyperbole.

Most??? Don't you mean all.
interesting fact, I tapped that magic out on my phone, it took over an hour and a half as kept hitting wrong predictive text option, on top of pausing to try and recall what i was intending originally to say, that's still a mystery to me, all while having to make some next level tough decisions as to what was to be played next on my iTunes account. it's just struck me... why didn't I just use the laptop that was actually using!

So what have we learned? After bottomless hit up better dumps to glug down.

I found this very interesting! DFF has his own texting issues lately. I notice I do need to start proofreading more now before I hit send. I have family members growing quite concerned. And just the other day I sent a text meant for a coworker to family by mistake. She was really confused as to why I was asking her a question about my dental plan at work.

why didn't I just use the laptop that was actually using!
DFF just got a brand new laptop actually. For someone with my limited computer skills, it’s quite scary! It sat here for a few days in the box. I was scared to touch it. Sis-in-law offered to hook it up and get me started. At first I told her that I could probably handle it myself but she was smart enough to remind me that based on history I couldn’t be alone with a new computer in the same room without one of us dying within the first five minutes. So I figured I’d accept her help.

So what have we learned?
In my case, I feel not much. But there’s still time

So DFF learned a valuable lesson today on his 24th anniversary at work. Usually when they announce my anniversary I will hide, refuse to say a few words to the gang, my shyness in large groups taking over. But this year, as I’m driving in to work this morning, I promised myself that I would handle things differently for once. Instead of shying away from the attention, I’m going to embrace it.

So DFF marched right into that station and I walked into the middle of the warehouse, surprised to see a cake with the word “Congratulations “ on it. I was touched, but a cake seemed odd to me cause it’s only a 24th anniversary, not 25. But who cares? And DFF noticed everyone standing around waiting so I walked right up to the front and stood next to my boss. I hugged her and thanked her and asked if I can say a few words but she looked at me very puzzled for some reason.

But that didn’t stop me from thanking the entire station. I told them what the cake meant to me and I talked about how I didn’t even want the job 24 years ago but I took it because my mother made me and now all these years later I was so glad I listened to her. But oddly, I didn’t hear any applause when I was done speaking. Actually, I didn’t hear anything. It was dead silence. I looked at my boss and she looked at me and goes “Oh DFF! You better come over here.” So I go over to her and she whispers in my ear that the cake is actually not for me. I said can you please say that again? She tells me that the cake is for someone else who’s retiring today after 37 years with the company and that’s why everyone is standing here. They’re all waiting for him to arrive. I whispered back that I understood but I feel a little awkward now and I don’t know what to do because this has just become the most embarrassing moment of DFF’s career. But she’s no help at all because I can tell she’s about to lose it and so I did the only thing I could. I put my head down and covered my face and walked to my truck. And I locked the doors and never came out. I scanned my packages, got in that seat and drove off well over the posted speed limit.

I must’ve had 40 texts before I got to my first stop. And I was a too embarrassed to answer any of them. Actually I’m still getting them. Everyone is in stitches but DFF will be digging a hole this weekend; a very big, long, wide, humongous hole to crawl into and bury himself.

And while I’m digging, everyone else enjoy the weekend!

OMG, what a way to celebrate your 24th anniversary. That cake should have said more than "Congratulations". I'd be embarrassed too. :embarrassed: Has anyone mentioned this event since it happened?

BTW, do you go by DFF at work? If so that's dedication that I respect. :floor:
