I could talk with authority about aches and pains that have taken up residence in my body, and they going no where. In my mind I'm still 17 years old, but every morning my body tells me different. But, I am not one to grumble
Yes, I have the same problem. My mind thinks I’m still a teenager but my body quickly reminds me I’m pushing 50. My 20 year old nephew now runs circles around me on the ball field and then laughs at me, but I do surprise him once in awhile and give him a glimpse of what I once was. That usually shuts him up for awhile.

Big Sister lives in Hong Kong, has done since 1999. She has acclimatized. In January she phoned Dear Mama and I was roped in so that they could tell me how to live right
Lol!!! Well, someone has to keep you in line my friend!

I just deiced my van, and the temperature being displayed was 6 degrees below zero degrees Celsius. Just Googled 78 degrees Fahrenheit, it's23 degrees Celsius, at 8am. That's something that just doesn't happen in the UK.
We have much different climates! I remember moving down to South Florida in October of 1994. I left New York on a cold Autumn day and it was like moving to an entirely different world. It was a big adjustment.

We are now in Spring according to the Met Office (weather people) and another wet and cold winter with no snow. Significant snow events are a rare thing. Met office said once in 20 years on average. The warming effect of the heat generates by the kinetic energy by the sea and ocean's movement help the UK to remain just warm enough to avoid winter weather akin to inland countries. The land mass radiates the heat stored as the seasons change. Therefore the air mass sitting above the ground gets cold and the weather reflects that.
Interesting! At least you don’t get much snow over there. Most of this country gets some snow at some point in the winter months, well, except for where I live of course. Our last snowfall was in 1978.

I've had a nice and chilled day today. The beers are going down at a steady pace, and I turned on this laptop found myself here while bouncing around my iTunes account.
I’m glad you had a nice weekend Biggie! I hope your week is going well so far also!!

Long Lashes

Telly Talk Enforcer
I reckon that could be a problem ‘Lashes. They’ve got you right there on having multiple personalities. I’d be in much trouble myself I’m thinking, mainly for posting nonsense that no one in their right mind would even want to read. Of course always referring to myself in the third person as DFF could also be an issue, which I notice I do a lot for some reason.
Well at least we are not boring and then we have some other characters who pop in on here from time to time like the budgies, the Gremlins (not seen them for a while) and the jealous biddies :lmao:

You can ask questions anytime my friend! How else do we learn anything? I notice I ask a lot more questions now compared to when I was younger. I would never ask anything of anyone because I was so shy but now I’m just a shy person that asks a lot of questions.
Ooo thank you for letting me ask things.

Yes you make sense  being shy doesn't stop you asking qestions and thats great. In my defence at being a nosy parker I think it also shows an interest in other people. I don't just ask questions for the sake of it, I ask because I want to know ... and am nosy..Lol

Unfortunately it’s all too common because I’ve heard it so many times before. I’ve seen packages end up in the wrong house, the wrong neighborhood, town, city, state, even country. I wish I was kidding but I’m not.
Oh crikey this sounds bad.

I’m so sorry they didn’t believe you though my friend. That’s ridiculous because you have no reason to lie. You’re the customer and you just want your parcel. It’s drivers like that one that give us a bad name.
He wasn't very good at his job thats for sure, if he'd just admitted he'd got confused and made a mistake then all would be fine. I don't judge the company by his standards though, the other drivers are very good. I make it sound like I order 100's of parcels

This driver has no idea what crossing The Enforcer will lead to should he or she not find your house again next time.
Yes, he needs to tread carefully he might not get away unscathed next time :giggle:

If this old, falling apart body holds up long enough I’d be honored to deliver your parcels someday ‘Lashes. I can guarantee you they will be delivered to the right house, on time and with a smile.
This would be a complete honour to me :)

(Just not in the cold or snow)
I have tons of warm jumpers and boots I could lend you
smiley-lol.webp

So what exactly is a jealous biddie again?
Its someone who is bitter, angry and jealous .

Never me though :innocent:

It’s kind of funny ‘cause I actually took a sick day this week and I had coworkers texting me all day asking if I was okay. They probably thought I was dead Lol!!
Oh no, I hpe you are feeling better my friend, thats not like you at all, although I'm glad you actually did phone in sick rather than struggle on.

How are we doing on here DFF ? are we any nearer to 10,000 posts yet? :loon:

'd be here more if I could, it's not for the want of trying but my tech issues make it extremely difficult so I just stick to the Dallas forum when I manage to get on it.
Well wherever you post LML this forum is lucky to have you here.

When I travelled to Thailand I went to a remembrance place that was for the victims of the tsunami there. I didn't want to be morbid or glorify their suffering, I just wanted to pay my respects as I was in their country. Nothing could have prepared me for the pictures of numerous poor bodies on the beach (which I didn't know beforehand) and the devastation left behind. Those images will always stay with me.
Oh gosh that must've been very emotional to see.

I still remember hearing the news about the tsunami and each time a news report came in the news just got worse and worse. It must've been terrifying for the people who were there at that time. I think its very respectful of you to visit the rememberance place it showed you care.

I'm sure I will get to New York one day as I love travelling but this year is already booked up. I think I read you enjoy walking? Have you any special places you enjoy?
Yes I love walking with Mr L and our dog Barney.

We often go to Scotland to borrow my brothers cottage there and sometimes to the Lake Districk where we hire a cottage, I always make sure the bathroom has a bath though, I usually shower all the time but after a long walk my bones need a long soak in the bath

Nothing yet. I date and number the bottom of each pot to know them apart once they lose their blooms.
You are so efficent and organised Michelle Stevens :gotcha:

Most of my orchids are in bloom now. It looked like a flower shop in my dwelling. They are returning the love and good vibes.
It must look stunning all those different colours showing themselves off for you :)

I have some tulips in the garden which are very nearly in bloom, oh how I have missed seeing flowers in the garden over winter.

One of your poinsettias made it to July one year if my memory is correct. I hope this one makes it to at least next Christmas.
Yes, I think it was actually 'Michelle the Poinsettia' who lived until July . I'd be so excited if Matilda makes it to Christmas, but I'm prepared for disappointment :cool1

How does she look now, still have red leaves?
She's sat right next to me as I type this , I don't mean on the sofa next to me ..Lol! . she's on the window sill nearby enjoying the spring sunshine and yes her leaves are still abundant and very red. She looks great.

Streetie is still alive, amazingly. She looks kind f rough, losing a limb over the Winter and dropping many leaves but she's started some new leave growth in recent weeks. She's an old and somewhat sick plant so to even still have her is a joy and a blessing. She may, fingers crossed, make it back to the garden again this year. My other poinsettias are all different stories too. Giftie, the one I received as a gift last December did so well but suddenly got "soft rot" on her lower limbs and 85% of her died. I took three cuttings off of her and the cutting are alive in water. My giant from the discount at the store is also alive but with few leaves but looks okay for a Spring rebound.
Its so good to hear about Streetie she has been through such a lot and had a rough start to life, I so hope she gets to enjoy the summer outside again.

Poor Giftie, but clever you has made she still lives on by taking the cuttings.

Never a dull moment in my plant world.
I've always enjoy reading your adventures, I still remember when you got your very first Orchid and now look at you :D:D:D

Well at least we are not boring and then we have some other characters who pop in on here from time to time like the budgies, the Gremlins (not seen them for a while) and the jealous biddies :lmao:
I remember the very first time I popped over here after I joined and reading about aliens, Enforcers, Lashouts, minions, spacecraft, budgies, Gremlins, a bunny working in a cafe, shirtless firefighters, yachts, orchids, poinsettias, Eagles’ nests, a Hotness Crown, etc. and thinking what the heck goes on over here on this part of the site? It took me awhile to understand it all. I gotta admit I was a little confused at first.

Ooo thank you for letting me ask things.
No problem. You may ask away my friend. You’ve always had patience with my (daft) questions. I’ll answer everything truthfully except for the things I can no longer remember and then I’ll just guess. You’re probably too young to understand this part yet but someday you will.

Yes you make sense  being shy doesn't stop you asking qestions and thats great. In my defence at being a nosy parker I think it also shows an interest in other people. I don't just ask questions for the sake of it, I ask because I want to know ... and am nosy..Lol
I don’t think there’s anything wrong with being nosy. I’ll admit to being that way too sometimes. I guess we all are to a certain extent whether we want to admit it or not. To me it depends on the person we’re asking. If they seem talkative I’ll keep asking questions but if I get the impression they don’t want to be bothered I just stop asking and put my foot back in my mouth. That usually works well!

He wasn't very good at his job thats for sure, if he'd just admitted he'd got confused and made a mistake then all would be fine. I don't judge the company by his standards though, the other drivers are very good. I make it sound like I order 100's of parcels
Oh, that driver might be in trouble if you get one of those random surveys from the company. Do you ever get those? I’m not tooting my own horn but I’m cleaning up on those Lol!! I’m yet to get a 5 star review though. I’ve gotten plenty of 4’s but never a 5. I wonder why that is? The funny thing is they’ll tell me I’m getting a 5 when they get the survey but I never get one. I wonder what’s making them change their minds? I gotta figure this out ‘Lashes. Now this is gonna keep me up tonight.

This would be a complete honour to me :)
Unless DFF makes the same mistake as the other guy and goes to the wrong town with your parcel also. Then I have to hope The Enforcer recognizes me as a friend and doesn’t strike me down.

I have tons of warm jumpers and boots I could lend you

Thank you! I do hate the cold as you know, which really confuses me ‘cause I really used to love it when I was younger. This climate spoiled me a little. Is it starting to warm up over there yet? If I’m not mistaken I think you said your winter wasn’t that bad this year, right?

Its someone who is bitter, angry and jealous .

Never me though :innocent:
Thank you for explaining to me what a biddie is. I will use this tomorrow on someone at some point and let you know how it goes. That description definitely doesn’t fit you ‘Lashes but it does remind me of a select few over on the Dallas threads sometimes. There might be a few biddies over there.

(Just kidding, just kidding)

Oh no, I hpe you are feeling better my friend, thats not like you at all, although I'm glad you actually did phone in sick rather than struggle on.
I am feeling better, thank you for asking! I’m just having issues with my right arm. I had pain in my elbow and it was traveling all the way down into my hand. It kept going away but then it would come back again so I went to the orthopedist. All the tests were negative so I probably just aggravated something. He doesn’t think it’s anything serious. It’s much better now but it was kind of scary for awhile. I was using one hand all day as I had almost no strength in my right hand. Now it’s almost back to normal and I’ve regained my strength in my hand but the elbow still hurts. Isn’t getting old fun?

It wasn’t anything you did to me over on the Last Post thread though my friend.

Fab! Hopefully this time will be your lucky Poinsettia. Poinsettias are harder than orchids to please.

BTW, how is Pearl and Orkie?

Its so good to hear about Streetie she has been through such a lot and had a rough start to life, I so hope she gets to enjoy the summer outside again.

As we enter April the countdown for Streetie's trip to the garden begins. I didn't think it was possible when she came indoors on 12 October. She looks rough but has grown new leaves so there is hope. She has some ailment but she continues to live. Streetie is an amazing plant and I'm glad she is still with me.
Poor Giftie, but clever you has made she still lives on by taking the cuttings.

Giftie and her three cuttings are alive too. Another plant that could have died but still holding on. I just have to get the cuttings in soils soon to see if they root. They have new leaves which is a major plus. I learn more about Poinsettias each day.

I've always enjoy reading your adventures, I still remember when you got your very first Orchid and now look at you :D:D:D
I know. My first one Snowy is blooming now with four wire shelves holding all that followed her except for the three that I lost early on (PV, Gem and Lumina).

Well wherever you post LML this forum is lucky to have you here.
Kind words thankyou. You were all doing great long before I got here as you always do. I sometimes feel as though I've imposed here and I've never ever been pushy so I tell myself it's fine, I'm just the occasional gate crasher from the other side!

sometimes to the Lake Districk where we hire a cottage,
I'd wanted to go to the lake district for a long time so when we decided on a last minute break before Easter I jumped at the chance. We didn't decide to go anywhere until 3 days before and chose to do a short tour of the lakes and the Peak District stopping at various places along the way. I've never been and I absolutely loved it.
We were so lucky with the weather and had it a lot better than where I live further down South. I never thought I could enjoy a break in this country so much. I know we have some beautiful places but my main passion is holidaying abroad. This made such a nice change and the break was much needed. I know what you mean about a bath!

I love Scotland too. I took hubby there for a special birthday a couple of years ago. None of us had been before and we fell in love with it.
Hope you had a great Easter Lashes

It’s been over 20 years since I’ve visited.
Oh it would be exciting for you to plan a trip then. Pardon my ignorance but how far are you away?

Oh, it was Utah?
Well now I really am showing my ignorance. I had no idea it was Utah. I just remember laughing nervously out loud when I boarded the plane there to take us to Palm Springs. It was quite a small plane and had tiny single seats one side and double seats the other side of the aisle. So different from the massive thing we keft the UK on. I know you're probably thinking that's not funny but I'm a bit strange like that and giggled for ages at the layout of this cute little aircraft.
We had terrible storms on the journey home and the pilot instructed the crew to sit for the flight mid way through drinks service so no drinks.

This unnerved me a little and all I could think to do was hold a picture of my children, my crucifix chain that I wear and my picture of Linda Gray that she autographed! Extremely dramatic of me I know but I thought if I'm going down here I'm going down like this. I do laugh at that now and hope you won't judge me too harshly lol or think I need therapy.

I’ll discover i should’ve done it years ago like everyone tells me.
Yes that's very difficult, although you know you love being out on the road, how would you feel doing something different? Hopefully you wouldn't regret it and wish you'd done it sooner. Stay out there longer DFF and tell me some more stories of your job and the daily challenges it brings you.

Luckily I work with a lot of people that are falling apart so I guess we have each other.
Oh this did make me laugh. Until recently I was in jobs where I was the youngest or at least close in age to the youngest ones. Now I'm the oldest in my workplace. It took me some time to adjust but I'm there now, probably because I don't actually act any older and certainly no wiser so I fit in well (I hope.)
Take care DFF, hope you're keeping well.

Dizzee Rascal.
I was on a shopping trip to Cabot Circus recently (as per usual) and as I approached I could hear some loud music and crowds of people. Dizzee himself was performing a few numbers to promote a new album. He sounded so good and I admired his energy.

That's something that just doesn't happen in the UK.
Unfortunately not or fortunately I suppose for some. Hope it warms up here soon though, we need some sun.

Hope everyone here is keeping well. Take care for now all.

Oh it would be exciting for you to plan a trip then. Pardon my ignorance but how far are you away?
About 1500 miles so I don’t get up to New York as much as I’d like, and usually when I visit it’s in the city because that’s where my entire family lives these days. But I’ve made a promise to myself that the very next trip up there will include a journey to that little place in my avatar. Not sure how that will go to be honest because that’s such an emotional place for me. It is all good memories though so maybe it won’t feel as sad as I think it will.

I know you're probably thinking that's not funny but I'm a bit strange like that and giggled for ages at the layout of this cute little aircraft.
I’m not a fan of small planes. Well, I’m not a fan of any planes actually. I hate flying because it just seems like such a long way to fall if something goes wrong but I do manage. I’ve flown a zillion times without any issues so I’m not sure why I get so nervous. I just do but of course I keep it to myself so as not to make anyone else nervous. I have a cousin that always tells me to have a drink on the plane to relax me but my argument is who wants to be relaxed if something goes wrong? I want to be wide awake and very alert. I do like your approach though. I like to find humor in the darkest things sometimes as well. Laughing helps me cope.

Okay, I really should’ve read this part first ‘cause now I’m not laughing! I’m glad you made it safely. Not sure how I would handle that. An autographed picture of Linda Gray to hold onto wouldn’t be a bad way to go I’m guessing. I’d most likely be holding onto the pilot’s leg begging for him or her to please let me live.

Extremely dramatic of me I know but I thought if I'm going down here I'm going down like this. I do laugh at that now and hope you won't judge me too harshly lol or think I need therapy.
No wonder you never forget this trip! And here I was thinking it was because of the Dallas reunion. I don’t think you need therapy my friend but I certainly would after all this.

you know you love being out on the road, how would you feel doing something different?
I think about this a lot as my body begins to betray me. I would miss being on the road terribly. There would most definitely be withdrawals, sadness, depression, anxiety, regret, etc. but I think I’d adjust. I’m just not a desk job person and everyone that knows me knows I’d probably go nuts or drive them there instead so we’ll see what happens. I’m open to a change, but then there’s that other part of DFF unfortunately, that stubborn idiot that refuses to accept the inevitable and won’t listen to anyone and keeps putting a band aid on the injuries and keeps going. But I like that DFF too. I’ve become quite fond of him actually so it’s very polarizing.

(See LML? We all need therapy on this thread)

Stay out there longer DFF and tell me some more stories of your job and the daily challenges it brings you.
You know, you’re really not helping with all this encouragement LOL!!!

Until recently I was in jobs where I was the youngest or at least close in age to the youngest ones. Now I'm the oldest in my workplace. It took me some time to adjust but I'm there now, probably because I don't actually act any older and certainly no wiser so I fit in well (I hope.)
I can certainly relate to this! I was 23 when I walked into my current job. I felt so out of place being one of the youngest people there. I tried to respect everyone and not step on any toes because most everyone was way older than me, and now here I am 26 years later (please don’t add it up) and I’m one of the oldest and looking to fit in with people young enough to be my kids.

Take care DFF, hope you're keeping well.
You take care as well LML! I hope everything is good with you and your family and have a nice weekend!

I am very careful when I'm talking to other people, some people love it when you take an interest and ask lots of questions .. and I enjoy that too, but naturally others are more reserved and that's ok. I'd hate to make anyone feel uncomfortable.

Yes we do get those surveys, but didn't get one when the driver went to the wrong town. Isn't it odd how you don't get the 5 stars? 4 stars is very, very good though so you are obviously popular amongst your customers.

I think sometimes people can be hesitant to give top marks, its like they dare not do it because then they have nowhere else to go .. I don't think I'm making sense, but I know what I mean

I think good workers like you should get a bonus, after all you do your job so much better than some others.

I'll always remember Michelle the Poinsettia. She got her name because you cleverly somehow superimposed Michelle's face onto her photo :D it was sooooo effective.

Matilda is still (dare I say it) thriving at the moment, thank you. I dare not move her position in just in case she doesn't like it.

BTW, how is Pearl and Orkie?
Pearl is having a rest, while Orkie is awake and blooming. I need to take some more photos to show you.

How special for Giftie and her three cuttings :) ...if it wasn't for you she would be long gone. Hopefully her cutting will grow in the soil, they should do if they are already growing new leaves, that sounds very healthy.

I bought some tiny Lobelias this week for our garden, I love the small flowers they grow, so eventually I'm going to put them in pots on the patio. I also got a Cordyline, I really like these plants, they don't flower, but their leaves always look attractive.

Like you I also like going abroad and I've got to stop myself from re-booking the same places we've already visited .. there is so much else to see.

Have you ever done cruises? We haven't tried it yet, but our friends love them. I wouldn't mind trying a small cruise, a smaller ship and sail along some rivers.

Lol! .. its amazing we didn't scare you off with all these extra characters :D .. I'm glad we didn't.
Oh no, it takes a lot more than that to scare DFF away from here ‘Lashes. An emergence of snakes, alligators, sharks, cold weather or extreme heights in the games section are probably the only things that can make me stay away.

Are you a scaredy cat with any of those things like I am ‘Lashes?

I am very careful when I'm talking to other people, some people love it when you take an interest and ask lots of questions .. and I enjoy that too, but naturally others are more reserved and that's ok. I'd hate to make anyone feel uncomfortable
Totally agree with this! As you know I’m out with the public a lot all day and it’s really funny how different we all are. I go to places where I can’t get some people to shut up and I go to other places where it’s like pulling teeth sometimes. I guess it all depends on how their day is going maybe? ‘Cause I can be the same way depending on my mood.

Yes we do get those surveys, but didn't get one when the driver went to the wrong town
That’s probably because the survey went to the same town as your driver

Isn't it odd how you don't get the 5 stars? 4 stars is very, very good though so you are obviously popular amongst your customers
It is odd, isn’t it? I’m happy with a 4, don’t get me wrong, but I’d like to know what it is I’m doing wrong lol!! Then again I’m hearing of drivers getting 1’s and 0’s so maybe I should be thankful?

I think sometimes people can be hesitant to give top marks, its like they dare not do it because then they have nowhere else to go .. I don't think I'm making sense, but I know what I mean
Yes, you’re making perfect sense. I always understand you ‘Lashes. Maybe they’re afraid they’ll spoil me and I won’t work as hard. That will be my explanation to my boss anyway when I get asked why I don’t have a 5 yet.

I think good workers like you should get a bonus, after all you do your job so much better than some others.
I like this and I share your opinion my friend. I need to get the bosses an account here so they can read this for themselves!

We have had a couple of unexpected lovely spring days, I even got out in the garden to clear up after the winter and prepare for new plants, but today , wow, its so blustery and wet.
I know how much you love finally being able to get out there in that garden! Has the wet weather subsided yet?

Pretty soon we’ll be hitting our good old hurricane season once again! I’m not sure if they’re predicting a slow season this year or a busy one but I’d rather not check yet. Sometimes it’s better not to know really.

Are you sweltering over there?
It’s been pretty hot already but not as bad as it’s going to get of course. We had a cooler winter than usual but then it went right up to the 80s every day literally overnight. It’s a race to see what kills me first this year, the heat or the storms.

That must have been awful, I wonder what it was that caused it? did your left arm not become sore from having to do all the work?

Glad you got it checked out and to hear its improved
It’s a mystery. I’m assuming I just tweaked something somehow, I don’t know. Whatever it was I seem fine now but it took a couple of months to go away. And yes, the other hand started hurting too after awhile ‘cause it was all I had left.

We are slowly creeping along at the moment.
Looks like we’re up to 5536, right? That means only 4464 to go now!

I hope you’re having a nice week so far my friend, and the same goes for everyone else reading this!!

'The Lovely Michelle'
I'll always remember Michelle the Poinsettia. She got her name because you cleverly somehow superimposed Michelle's face onto her photo :D it was sooooo effective.

Ahh yes, I remember Michelle the Poinsettia. She did indeed live long.
Matilda is still (dare I say it) thriving at the moment, thank you. I dare not move her position in just in case she doesn't like it.
Very good! Has she produced any new green or red leaves? Let's hope Matilda keeps up her healthy ways. :yeah:
Pearl is having a rest, while Orkie is awake and blooming. I need to take some more photos to show you.

Oh yes, I'd love to see Orkie in bloom again. I have a few that didn't bloom this year so I understand Pearl. It's good that they have each other. I think in a way they know when they are around others of their kind.
Streetie still lives up to her tough name, I'm so very pleased she will get another summer in the outdoors.
Well I play it day-by-day with Streetie as Summer is still two months away. She is still in her final weeks here before being moved to the garden and has some new growth but some recent dead limbs as well. Two steps forward, one step back and one step forward and two steps back is hos it goes with Streetie. She did emerge briefly from her Winter shelter on 8 April to see our eclipse. It was a nice day and I wanted to share it with something and Streetie was it.

How special for Giftie and her three cuttings :) ...if it wasn't for you she would be long gone. Hopefully her cutting will grow in the soil, they should do if they are already growing new leaves, that sounds very healthy.

I transferred the cuttings into soil two days ago so I hope they take root. My fingers are crossed. Grifty herself seems better and has regrown a good but after loosing about 80% of her mass. One final limb may bring her back from certain death.

I bought some tiny Lobelias this week for our garden, I love the small flowers they grow, so eventually I'm going to put them in pots on the patio. I also got a Cordyline, I really like these plants, they don't flower, but their leaves always look attractive.

Cordyline-Magic-Star-10-1087x614.jpg

The Cordylines make our garden look tropical, I just wish we got the tropical sunshine.
They are beautiful! I love the colours. Keep us informed on how they do. :)

Why is this thread on the third page? Do I need to babble on about my plants? :hide:
Its my fault N2H :p ... once again I've been away and need to catch up.

Oh no, it takes a lot more than that to scare DFF away from here ‘Lashes. An emergence of snakes, alligators, sharks, cold weather or extreme heights in the games section are probably the only things that can make me stay away.
Omg! if we got invaded by snakes, alligators, sharks and extreme heights in this thread I would be off and wouldn't look back ... :yikey:

Are you a scaredy cat with any of those things like I am ‘Lashes?
Yes I am.

I much prefer them to stay in there own habitat and I guess they are glad when we humans don't interfere with them either, unless they are hungry and then we would make a tasty meal :p

Totally agree with this! As you know I’m out with the public a lot all day and it’s really funny how different we all are. I go to places where I can’t get some people to shut up and I go to other places where it’s like pulling teeth sometimes. I guess it all depends on how their day is going maybe?
We never know how strangers will react, but you're right a lot depends and how their day is going or what's happening in their lives.

I was in TESCO'S this morning and its amazing how many people want to say a few words and have a little chat, but then there are others who don't even react to a smile. We are a complex lot us humans :loon:

Cause I can be the same way depending on my mood.
Oh me too and it also depends on if I'm feeling tired or in rush etc.

It is odd, isn’t it? I’m happy with a 4, don’t get me wrong, but I’d like to know what it is I’m doing wrong lol!! Then again I’m hearing of drivers getting 1’s and 0’s so maybe I should be thankful?
I suspect you are not doing anything at all wrong DFF  ... maybe some people will only give a 5 if they get free service? or if you mow their lawns for them whilst you deliver parcels ..lol!

. I always understand you ‘Lashes. Maybe they’re afraid they’ll spoil me and I won’t work as hard. That will be my explanation to my boss anyway when I get asked why I don’t have a 5 yet.
Does anyone ever get a 5?

I know how much you love finally being able to get out there in that garden! Has the wet weather subsided yet?
Yes the wet weather went away and ..... you won't believe this DFF but I had to get our fan out the other day because we were so warm, but then today the wet is back and the temp has dropped again. I've just been outside to rescue a couple of plants that were literally almost floating in the rainwater.

Pretty soon we’ll be hitting our good old hurricane season once again! I’m not sure if they’re predicting a slow season this year or a busy one but I’d rather not check yet. Sometimes it’s better not to know really.
Have you checked? I so hope the hurricanes won't affect you badly my friend.

I still can't imagine that kind of heat all year long, it fascinates me :D. Do a lot of people have pools or hot tubs in the garden/back yard? or is it a case of trying to avoid the extreme heat outdoors?

Looks like we’re up to 5536, right? That means only 4464 to go now!
We can always reply on you DFF to keep us on track :gotcha:

Hope all is well with you my friend

Ahh yes, I remember Michelle the Poinsettia. She did indeed live long.
She did :D Michelle the Poinsettia was a success for so long and then suddenly out of the blue she just gave up.

Has she produced any new green or red leaves? Let's hope Matilda keeps up her healthy ways.
Ooo my poor Matilda :( ... she's still with us, but as you know we were away recently and when I got back home she was so very dry and her green leaves had curled up, I felt so bad, but I did water her well before leaving.

Right now she currently has no green leaves (all dropped off) but amazingly her red leaves still look fab, so I think she's trying to decide what to do?

I have a few that didn't bloom this year so I understand Pearl. It's good that they have each other. I think in a way they know when they are around others of their kind.
I wonder if they have a secret Orchid language? I hope my Pearl and Orkie aren't talking about me behind my back :lmao:

Well I play it day-by-day with Streetie as Summer is still two months away. Lets hope Streetie gets a summer in the garden :) she's done so well since her rough start to life. I'm so glad you rescued her Michelle.

I transferred the cuttings into soil two days ago so I hope they take root. My fingers are crossed. Grifty herself seems better and has regrown a good but after loosing about 80% of her mass. One final limb may bring her back from certain death.
Hopefully her cuttings will thrive for you. I'll keep my fingers crossed for Grifty too.

Not all is well in my plant world. :(
Oh heck, I'm sorry my friend, let us know how they are all are when you can. :hugs:

Omg! if we got invaded by snakes, alligators, sharks and extreme heights in this thread I would be off and wouldn't look back ... :yikey:
Yes, having had to deal with most of those things in my part of the world at one time or another I have to agree with you my friend. Believe it or not though the one on that list that scares me the most is heights Lol!!

I much prefer them to stay in there own habitat and I guess they are glad when we humans don't interfere with them either, unless they are hungry and then we would make a tasty meal :p
Now that I think about it I haven’t seen an alligator, snake or shark in quite awhile now. I guess that’s a good thing. I’m sure the summer months will change that though.

We never know how strangers will react, but you're right a lot depends and how their day is going or what's happening in their lives.
That’s why I try to be a little understanding when I get the difficult ones, which I notice I’m getting more of those lately. There is a lot going on in the world so maybe we have to cut them a little slack.

I was in TESCO'S this morning and its amazing how many people want to say a few words and have a little chat, but then there are others who don't even react to a smile. We are a complex lot us humans :loon:
I notice people will just start talking to me out of nowhere when I’m in the stores, which is odd because I’m the exact opposite. I hide and keep to myself for the most part but once they break the ice with me then I’m fine. But it does frustrate me when I do initiate the conversation and they look like they don’t want to be bothered. You can only hope they don’t walk away thinking you’re a crazy person.

Oh me too and it also depends on if I'm feeling tired or in rush etc.
That has a lot to do with it, especially if I’m hungry. That’s the only time I’ll get irritable really. Not irritable in a cranky jerk kind of way though. I’ll just get very sarcastic and won’t listen to a thing you’re saying until I get my food.

I suspect you are not doing anything at all wrong DFF  ... maybe some people will only give a 5 if they get free service?
I’m still waiting on that 5 actually. I’m sure free service would help. Perhaps showing up on time would do the trick too I’m thinking. Unfortunately that happens a lot too but it’s often out of our control.

or if you mow their lawns for them whilst you deliver parcels ..lol!
I’d like to tell you I’ve never been asked to do this for anyone but it has happened ‘Lashes.

Does anyone ever get a 5?
Yes, only one person I can think of, and the only reason I know is because she throws it in my face every single day. Let’s see, she has put a big piece of paper with a 5 on it on my steering wheel, she holds up 5 fingers every time I walk by, she texts me the number 5 all day on our scanners and she has reminded me more than once she got a 5 despite only being with the company a year compared to my 26. Not to the mention her 5 was from one of my customers on my route when she was helping me out one day.

But as you can see I have absolutely no bitterness about this ‘Lashes

Yes the wet weather went away and ..... you won't believe this DFF but I had to get our fan out the other day because we were so warm, but then today the wet is back and the temp has dropped again. So your temperatures seem to be fluctuating a lot this Spring! Is this normal every year? I’m sure that must make your garden planning tough, right?

We need rain so bad! Usually by this time of year it’s raining every day at some point and this year that’s not the case. It’s already in the 90s. I hope the rain makes an appearance soon. We do need it.

Have you checked? I so hope the hurricanes won't affect you badly my friend.
I still haven’t checked yet. We’ve been very lucky the last 6 years so I don’t want to tempt fate. I guess I’m a little superstitious when it comes to my hurricanes.

I still can't imagine that kind of heat all year long, it fascinates me :D. Do a lot of people have pools or hot tubs in the garden/back yard? or is it a case of trying to avoid the extreme heat outdoors?
Pools are very common here. It’s really the first thing I do every day when I get home. I’m not sure what I would do without it to be honest. Unfortunately in my case I can’t avoid the heat but a lot of people stay indoors if they can. You can dehydrate very easily here, which I did one year and ended up in the hospital. That and heatstrokes are also common.

Hope all is well with you my friend
Always good catching up with you my friend! Have a great weekend!!

Yes, having had to deal with most of those things in my part of the world at one time or another I have to agree with you my friend. Believe it or not though the one on that list that scares me the most is heights Lol!!
I can understand that.

Heights never used to bother me when I was younger, I guess I never thought of the danger and used to absolutely love going on the high and fast fairground rides, but now that I'm ... shall we say more mature :p .. I can't stand the thought of being exposed to heights and if we go to a fairground I'm the one who holds everyone else's coats whilst they enjoy the high rides.

Now that I think about it I haven’t seen an alligator, snake or shark in quite awhile now. I guess that’s a good thing. I’m sure the summer months will change that though.
Ooo yikes :yikey: I do forget you have these animals in the wild where you live. Do they tend to make an appearance once the weather heats up? I've only ever seen a snake in the wild twice in the UK and lets just say I freaked out a bit  .

Another time Mr L and I where on holiday in Greece and we'd hired a couple of push bikes to go for a ride and as we were riding along this dusty road we noticed what we thought was a childs bright yellow toy on the road ahead .. and yes, you've guess it, it was an actual snake, I was just about to freak out and then Mr L informed me that it was dead. I did feel sorry for it though.

I notice people will just start talking to me out of nowhere when I’m in the stores, which is odd because I’m the exact opposite. I hide and keep to myself for the most part but once they break the ice with me then I’m fine. You must have a friendly and approachable demerara if complete stranger feel able to talk to you DFF :D .

That has a lot to do with it, especially if I’m hungry. That’s the only time I’ll get irritable really. Not irritable in a cranky jerk kind of way though. I’ll just get very sarcastic and won’t listen to a thing you’re saying until I get my food.
Lol! ... its a horrible feeling when we get hungry or thirsty .. I'm terrible if I'm thirsty, all I can think of is getting a drink asap  but most of the time I do have a bottle of water with me everywhere I go.

I’m still waiting on that 5 actually. I’m sure free service would help. Perhaps showing up on time would do the trick too I’m thinking. Unfortunately that happens a lot too but it’s often out of our control.
It must be difficult to always be there at the time the customers have been told you will. All sorts of things can happen to cause a delay, the pressure must be on you to try and not be late .. which is so hard.

Yes, only one person I can think of, and the only reason I know is because she throws it in my face every single day. smiley-lol.webp
... are you sure that it wasn't a family member who gave her the five? or maybe she uses bribery on her customers? ..Lol!

Yes our springtime is very changeable weather-wise. Today we are back to heavy rain, which is typical when I'm in the mood for pulling up weeds, I don't mind gardening in the cold, but I'm not going out there in the rain :).

I so wish I could let you have some of our rain, how is the weather now? have you had any rain recently?

Pools are very common here. It’s really the first thing I do every day when I get home. I’m not sure what I would do without it to be honest. Oh bliss, it must feel wonderful to get home from work on a hot day and plunge into the pool, I do envy you DFF

I know what you mean about dehydrating quickly, thats happened to me once as well and its scary. Heatsrokes must be awful too, the sun can be so powerful, I've actually bought myself a sunhat to wear in the garden this year .. which means I've probably scuppered our luck in having a hot summer

Always good catching up with you my friend! Have a great weekend!!
You too my friend, have a good week and stay safe on those roads. :D
