Maybe not a matter of liking her, as much as acknowledging her impressive career with many good roles
in good films and TV shows. Double Indemnity is probably her best work in my opinion, and it is an absolute classic.

My opinion on Stanwyck has certainly evolved. I always had a respect for her work and longevity as an actress, but I never personally cared for her films or TV work for a long time. Watching movies such as DOUBLE INDEMNITY and SORRY, WRONG NUMBER definitely turned my opinion around.

That is a fascinating clip. It's so strange to see and hear Stanwyck outside of her many movie roles. The fact she rarely gave interviews, especially in video form, means we only have a few award show appearances. BTW, is it me, or is she trying to put on a bit of a British posh accent there.

One thing notable to me: they all used fairly minor profanity. I used to work with an older gentleman who used to grouse that movies & TV shows set in the past overused 'hard' profanity. He insisted that people just didn't talk like that. I have no idea if it's true or not, but worth noting that all of these actors -- even Lombard, who was apparently known to cuss like a sailor -- breaking character in exasperation and not one f-bomb was dropped.

My late mom was a fan of hers, and what I can say I like about Ms. Stanwyck was that she always came across on screen as someone that was confident and comfortable in her skin.
As an adult, here are a few of my favorite Barbara Stanwyck movies:
Stella Dallas (1937) - A tearjerker melodrama
Christmas in Connecticut (1945) - A comedic Christmas movie where she pretends to be a Martha Stewart type, and then has to prove she is one in real life instead of in print.
Sorry Wrong Number (1948) - A gripping film noir
A Taste of Evil (1971) - a psychological thriller - Made for Tv
The Thorn Birds (1983) - No need to elaborate

Did anyone ever do an in-depth interview with Barbara Stanwyck? That would have been awesome

She was disinclined to do so. She once said, "Oh, who cares?" (about the past) when asked to do a detailed memoir of her life and career.
Stanwyck said the work should stand on its own and she disliked interviewing on that work or on her life story... She was also a shy person who mostly avoided the spotlight and public scrutiny --- other than when she was performing a role on camera.
