Nanci Griffith dies, aged 68.

Singer-songwriter Nanci Griffith has died, aged 68. One of her most memorable songs was 'From a Distance.' Nanci had at least two occurrences of cancer. R.I.P.!

I couldnt name you any other of her songs but From a distance was a much played radio track on Terry Wogan and Ken Bruces radio show and I always liked it.

She didn't write From A Distance to add, as much as I liked her version.

She did record the song before Bette, but Julie Gold wrote it, and the latter got a Grammy as a result of Midler's version.

I always thought there was something enigmatic about her. I'm sure there is a story behind it of which I'm not aware, but she often wore political badges on her guitar strap which were contradictory. For example, wearing a Richard Nixon badge alongside one for Lyndon B. Johnson or Dwight D. Eisenhower badge alongside one for Obama.
