Peggy Lipton, dead at 72

Actress Peggy Lipton has died of cancer. She was 72.

As a big fan of Twin Peaks, that's where I know her from. She played waitress Norma Jennings.

She was also on Mod Squad. She's the mother of Rashida Jones, from her marriage to Quincy Jones.

Very sad news, she was so good as Norma. She and Ed finally got to have a good happy ending on the new one, one of the few anyone really got on there. She will be very missed, Mod Squad was also an Aaron Spelling classic, what a piece of pop history.

Yup, that Norma and Ed scene is what came to mind when I heard of Lipton's death this morning.

This is of course very spoilerish for anyone unfortunate enough not to have experienced new Twin Peaks yet...

I'm old enough to remember MOD SQUAD when it was still in primetime -- it was a somewhat less shlocky series for Aaron Spelling, perhaps because he was partnered with Danny Thomas. It was a pretty good show, but we used to chuckle that Julie was a bitch, Linc couldn't act, and Pete always seemed clinically depressed.

Half a century now.

old news i know but it broke my heart that she died. i've never seen Mod Squad hell not even the film! but i love her on Twin Peaks, i haven't seen all of the new twin peaks i just could not get into it, but wow is that a bad haircut that Big Ed has now. though my favorite role of Everett McGill isn't Twin Peaks or Dune it's The people under the stairs man i love that film
