Ethan Peck, at NYCC, on….

…Spock: “"We have to start Spock in a place where we see how he becomes the Spock we know standing beside Kirk on the bridge of the Enterprise."

…his audition: “The audition was absolutely outrageous. In the beginning, I didn't know what I was reading for, but toward the end I found out who it was and had a panic attack. A few days later, I got a text message from the casting director that said, 'Welcome aboard, Mr. Spock.'”

More Disco casting news out of NYCC:

Sonequa Martin-Green: "My husband, my amazing husband, Kenric (Green), the love of my life, is going to be on the show. I can't say in what capacity yet. But that's very, very exciting. And I'm incredibly grateful."

Spanish born actor Javier Botet is joining Star Trek: Discovery in a mystery role. The actor, who was born with Marfan syndrome – a genetic disorder of the connective tissue which results in compromised eyesight/organ function and an out-of-whack skeletal system burdened by extra height and overly flexible joints – has been making a career out of playing creatures on screen.

The one that Botet is said to be playing on Discovery is simply described as “old”. He’s said he had been filming in Toronto with Doug Jones, so might he be playing a fellow Kalpien? Possible, as he’s said to stand almost 6’ 7” in his socks and has very slender limbs. I’m wondering how permanent that role is and if he would be appearing in the short trek featuring Saru or would he feature in the series proper.

The link below speculates what that “old” creature might be and how it might tie in with S2. If correct, it could be a spoiler for some, so beware: https://www.cinemablend.com/television/2459476/creature-actor-javier-botet-reveals-new-star-trek-discovery-role

Even the story is stolen from an unknown PC-game without giving credits to the developer
Update by Ketwolski on the lawsuit brought against CBS & Netflix by the indie gamer Anas Abdin, who is the developer of the adventure game Tardigrades.
Judging by some of the comments on Anas's website, his game has been well known within certain circles for years.

According to showrunner Alex Kurtzman, the Spock of Discovery is not yet the Spock we know from TOS.
Owing to certain experiences, “both logic and emotion have failed” him.

S2, E1:

So, Stamets appears to be making good on his wish to bail ship….

Recall from S1:

Meanwhile, does anyone else feel that Lorca – whose family had been in the fortune cookie-making business for generations – is somehow lurking like The Phantom of the Opera viz-a-viz the fortune cookie message “Not every cage is a prison, nor every loss eternal”? Even Lorca’s ready room feels like it’s waiting for him.

I've avoided this thread in hope of having no spoilers and by doing so I had no idea it had started.

I'm not sure if I will start it straight away or let a few episodes build up. Binge watching shows have ruined that weekly climax for me.

After Season 1 was over,

Jason Isaacs…

(a) Asked an interviewer if he thought
audiences would prefer to see a Lorca who was blander (words to that effect) than Mirror Lorca, which to me implied that he couldn’t see himself playing a Prime Lorca who was acceptable to audiences if he didn’t have the edge that Mirror Lorca had. He had previously said post-Season 1 that Mirror Lorca was dead, how could he come back as him.

(b) Said he was
very happy to be a part of the Star Trek family, which to me came across as him insinuating that he still had a role in ST: Discovery. So, as Prime Lorca? Then again, he’s also said post-Season 1 that he’d lied to media before and during Season 1, so why should they believe anything he said now.

To Entertainment Weekly this month, Alex Kurtzman said of Lorca:
“I will tell you that you should not expect to see him this season, but that doesn’t mean he won’t be back.”

I speculate we
certainly won’t see Lorca, but will be lead to think/know this season that a Lorca is around/exists. I haven’t given up on Mirror Lorca being alive, as we never saw him actually die, only saw him in events that should have killed him. To borrow one of the taglines from The OA, “trust the unknown”. I believe Jason Isaacs will be back: I think it’s ML who returns, possibly under the guise of Prime Lorca, say in S3 if not towards the end/ at the end of S2. He might even have scenes on board Discovery, with or without Pike (who surely has to return to the Enterprise at some point). Also, the Mirror story of Lorca (and about Burnam being his weakness and downfall) may not have all been as the Emperor claimed. I think Burnam was too quick to trust the Emperor’s version of things, and the Emperor seized the opportunity to drive a wedge between Burnam and Lorca.
