Good question. Although a mini-series is technically not a movie I guess it can be eligible in this case.
However make sure to clearly mark if it's a mini-TV-series or TV-movie after it. :)

I think I've seen a Spanish movie. But clearly it wasn't memorable enough to make my top ten list of European movies. Sorry! :embarrassed:

Ooh yeah - The Spirit of the Beehive, a bunch of Almadovars, probably others that I can't remember. The Exterminating Angel, Y Tu Mamá También and Amores Perros too, but they're Spanish language films rather than strictly Spanish so I don't know if they count.

I've watched many Spanish films, the last one I saw was the 2011 film La piel que habito (The Skin I Live In). It was a good film (at least the first two thirds was) but not good enough to make my top 10. However, I did vote for a Spanish film:

I love Agatha Christie novels, especially those with Hercule Poirot. I haven't seen many adaptations, which is why I suggested this theme. I wanna know what to put in my to-watch list - where to start.

William Shakespeare was an English poet, playwright and actor. He was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, England and was baptized on 26 April 1564. He died in the same town as he was born on 23rd April, 1616 at the age of 52.

Shakespeare got married at the age of 18 and had three children. He worked at a theater company called The King’s Men in London, England. The theater company built their own theater along the river Thames which was called The Globe Theater. It still exists today.

During his career he wrote 39 plays, most of them comedies or histories but also some tragedies. Many of his plays have been adapted into movies. But which one of the movies based on his plays is your favorite?

I'm only including films that use the original dialogue and not included films only loosely based on Shakespeare's work such as the brilliant West Side Story.

1. Romeo and Juliet (1968) - Not just my favourite Shakespeare film but one of the best stage to screen adaptations ever.
2. Macbeth (1971) - An epic production that remains completely faithful to the original play.
3. Macbeth (2015) - I didn't think I could imagine Michael Fassbender and Marion Cotillard as Macbeth and Lady Macbeth in a million years but they absolutely nail the roles.
4. Midsummer Night's Dream (1935) - More stars than the Milky Way and one of the few adaptions of a Shakespeare comedy that is truly funny in places.
5. Merchant of Venice (2004) - The anti-Semitism in this film is sometimes uncomfortable to watch but that's how it should be and Al Pacino totally owns the role of Shylock.
6. Hamlet (1996) - Remarkably accessible version of the play, especially considering the film is over 4 hours long. Stellar performance from Kenneth Branagh too.
7. Much Ado About Nothing (2012) - An inventive modern day adaptation of the play that sticks with the original dialogue.
8. Romeo + Juliet (1996) - Stylish adaptation, set in modern time but retaining the original dialogue. Creative and entertaining.
9. Prospero's Books (1991) - Peter Greenaway being Peter Greenaway with Shakespeare.
10. The Tempest (1979) - Derek Jarman being Derek Jarman with Shakespeare.
