The murder of Grace Millane

This story has really affected me and I can't get the poor girl out of my head. What her family must be going through, especially at Christmas, is just horrendous.

I travel solo on most trips I go on and nothing would deter me from that privilege. I hope that it doesn't stop others either. Rest in peace dear Grace.

What infuriates me about this story (aside from the senseless loss of life) is that so many have and will use this story to evidence why women shouldn't travel alone. I've seen posts on other social media sites that have the audacity to question why her parents/family allowed her to travel alone, as if to blame them for her death.

I've been travelling alone since I was 14. Nothing would deter me from doing so. It's one of the greatest freedoms anyone can have. I'm very wary of men having had a bad experience in the past, however if I met someone I really liked and trusted, who knows? The girl was just living her life.
