FBI discovered Clinton-related emails weeks ago
(CNN) -- The FBI stumbled upon a trove of emails from one of Hillary Clinton's top aides weeks ago, law enforcement officials told CNN Sunday.
  • But FBI Director James Comey didn't disclose the discovery until Friday, raising questions about why the information was kept under wraps and then released only days before the election.

Harry Reid says FBI director may have broken the law
Comey’s disclosure of renewed Clinton email probe may have violated Hatch Act.
  • FBI Director James Comey may have broken the law by going public about a new effort to find evidence of wrongdoing by Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid said Sunday.
  • In a strongly worded letter to Comey, Reid said he may have violated a law that prohibits federal officials from using their office to influence an election.
  • “I am writing to inform you that my office has determined that these actions may violate the Hatch Act,” the Nevada senator wrote. “Through your partisan actions, you may have broken the law.”
  • Reid also suggested Comey was covering up revelations about Republican candidate Donald Trump, saying Comey possesses “explosive information about close ties and coordination” between Trump, his advisers and the Russian government that he has not disclosed.
  • “The double standard established by your actions is clear,” Reid wrote.
  • Comey on Friday announced the FBI was looking into emails found on the computer of disgraced former Congressman Anthony Weiner, whose estranged wife Huma Abedin is a top Clinton aide, that potentially could provide evidence of illegalities concerning Clinton’s private email server. The Wall Street Journal on Sunday reported that the FBI must review as many as 650,000 additional emails. As of yet, there is no evidence that the newly discovered emails implicate Clinton in any wrongdoing.

Poll: Comey’s bombshell changes few votes
The race for the White House is tight, but it has not been radically changed by the FBI director's bombshell announcement last week.
  • Hillary Clinton has a slim three-point lead over Donald Trump one week before Election Day, according to a new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll conducted entirely after FBI Director James Comey announced the discovery of new emails that might pertain to the former secretary of state's private server.
  • Clinton leads Trump 46 percent to 43 percent in a two-way race, and 42 percent to 39 percent in a four-way race, with Libertarian nominee Gary Johnson at 7 percent and the Green Party’s Jill Stein at 5 percent.
  • The poll was conducted using an online panel of 1,772 likely voters on Saturday and Sunday, beginning one day after Comey's announcement. The poll carries a margin of error of 2 percentage points.
  • In a separate poll conducted before Comey's disclosure, Clinton was leading by three points in the four-way race, and five points in the two-way race. Put simply, there is not yet evidence that the revelations have drastically altered the contours of the election.
  • Thirty-nine percent of voters said the additional review of emails in the Clinton case had no bearing on their vote in November, while 33 percent said it made them much less likely to vote for Clinton.
  • But most of those voters are already aligned against Clinton. Nearly two-thirds of Trump voters, 66 percent, said it makes them much more likely to vote against Clinton.
  • Among the small pocket of undecided voters remaining, 42 percent said it made them less likely to vote for Clinton, including 30 percent who said it made them much less likely to vote for her. But just as many, 41 percent, said it makes no difference either way.
  • "It is unlikely that there will be a dramatic shift in the polls before Election Day," said Morning Consult cofounder and Chief Research Officer Kyle Dropp. "While Friday's news may be considered an 'October Surprise,' it doesn't seem to be moving the needle as of now."
  • Comey's vague letter to Congress, however, has shaken up the race for the White House. The FBI has reportedly seized the laptop, cell phone and iPad belonging to former Rep. Anthony Weiner, Huma Abedin's estranged husband who has been accused of trading lewd text messages with a 15-year-old girl.
  • Trump, who had already been gaining in the polls, has positioned the FBI's fresh involvement in the matter as a boon to his campaign. Clinton, meanwhile, has called on Comey to release all emails that were found. The Wall Street Journal Sunday reported the FBI needs to scour 650,000 emails found on Weiner's devices. As of Sunday night, it now has a warrant to do so. In the POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, Weiner has an 8 percent approval rating, lower than Russia.
  • Although Comey's announcement was just days ago, there's widespread awareness of what he did. Eighty-nine percent of respondents said they heard a lot or some about it.
  • Forty-five percent of voters say they agree with Trump’s claim that Clinton's email scandal is worse than Watergate. And asked to compare the two scandals, voters view Clinton's email issues and Trump's sexually aggressive comments about women as equally bad.
  • The race for Congress appears to be very tight. When voters were asked if they would vote for a Republican or Democrat for Congress, 44 percent said they'd vote for the Democrat and 43 percent said they would vote for the Republican -- a big gain for the GOP.
  • There's at least one overwhelming emotion about the election: Most everyone wishes it was over. Seventy-one percent of respondents said they strongly agree that they wish the election were finished already.

He apparently was pressured to surpress this until after election day..

The whole thing is absurd.. They had enough to charge her in July and let her walk..

I am not sure he is writing a wrong or some real damning evidence was presented.. The problem is he had damning evidence in the first place..

Well the meeting between BJ Clinton and Lynch was no doubt set up by Obama to throw the investigation under the rug.....all fine and dandy until the agents formed a mutiny haha. From various reports nobody wants anything to do with Comey in the agency and it was working on his conscious. Better late than never I guess......

Turnout for Ohio’s early voting trails past elections

“It bodes well for Trump given that his numbers seeming to be surpassing Mitt Romney’s totals in 2012. The fact that Clinton is lagging Obama [in 2012] probably speaks to an enthusiasm gap between the candidates,” Mr. Alexander said. “There is a little bit of pause I would give to to that. The Democrats would say you took out seven days of early voting we had before, and with the weekend voting starting now, that will increase her totals.”

As of Saturday, the 10th day before the election, more than 10,045 people had voted early and in-person in Lucas County.

At this same point in 2012, when President Obama was up for re-election, the early-vote turnout was 12,426. In 2008, the first presidential election with early voting, the turnout at this point was 10,834.

Poll: 41 percent of voters say election could be ‘stolen’ from Trump
The American electorate has turned deeply skeptical about the integrity of the nation's election apparatus, with 41 percent of voters saying November's election could be "stolen" from Donald Trump due to widespread voter fraud.
  • The new POLITICO/Morning Consult poll -- conducted among 1,999 registered voters Oct. 13 through Oct. 15 -- shows that Trump’s repeated warnings about a “rigged” election are having effect: 73 percent of Republicans think the election could be swiped from him. Just 17 percent of Democrats agree with the prospect of massive fraud at the ballot box.
  • The public sentiment is beginning to reflect Trump's campaign message. Over the last week, the GOP nominee has intensified his criticism of the U.S. electoral system, much to the chagrin of elected Republicans, who think it threatens the peaceful transfer of power. Trump calls the process rigged, and has said the media is colluding with Hillary Clinton to throw the presidential race in her favor.
  • Trump’s comments casting doubt upon the process have drawn a gentle rebuke from House Speaker Paul Ryan, whose spokesperson put out what would ordinarily be an unremarkable statement on Saturday: “Our democracy relies on confidence in election results, and the speaker is fully confident the states will carry out this election with integrity.”
  • But voters generally approve of Trump's rhetoric. Nearly 60 percent of those polled said it's necessary to raise questions about the accuracy of the election results, because the election could be compromised by voter fraud or a foreign government. Specifically, 70 percent of Republicans polled say it's necessary.
  • Voters are generally confident, however, that their vote will be counted. Eighty percent of registered voters say they are very or somewhat confident their own vote will be counted in November. Thirty percent of those same voters expressed skepticism that votes will be counted across the country.
  • “The results show that voters are increasingly losing confidence that votes around the country will be counted accurately on Election Day," said Kyle Dropp, cofounder and chief research officer at Morning Consult. "The sentiment especially rings true among Trump's supporters, with half expressing concern about a 'rigged election.'"
  • But the balloting is already well underway in many of the nearly three dozen states that allow early voting. Forty-three percent of voters say they will vote early, either by absentee or in person.
  • With 22 days until Election Day, nearly every credible national survey shows Clinton leading Trump by a margin ranging from five to 11 points. Overall, just 33 percent of the public believes the polls are biased in favor of Clinton. But a stunning 60 percent of Republicans say they are biased against Trump.
  • The past few days also saw an intensified internecine battle within the GOP. Speaker Ryan said he would not defend or work on behalf of Trump. Trump, in return, called Ryan a feckless leader -- a message that hasn't exactly resonated with Republican voters. Forty-four percent of Republicans say they favor Ryan as speaker, while 37 percent say they want new leadership.
  • One thing is certain, and it's clear across every major national poll: Trump is behind in his quest for the White House. In the POLITICO/Morning Consult poll, which included interviews with 1,737 likely voters, Clinton is beating Trump by 5 percentage points in a two-way race, 46 percent to 41 percent. In the four-way contest, Clinton is beating Trump 42 percent to 36 percent, with 10 percent supporting Gary Johnson and 3 percent supporting Jill Stein.
  • Voters favor Democrats for Congress, as they lead the GOP, 45 percent to 38 percent, in the generic ballot test.

Update: CNN slammed Brazile in a statement while denying that the network leaked any information.

“CNN never gave Brazile access to any questions, prep material, attendee list, background information or meetings in advance of a town hall or debate,” Lauren Pratapas, a spokeswoman for the network, told TheDC.

“We are completely uncomfortable with what we have learned about her interactions with the Clinton campaign while she was a CNN contributor.”

Today those words sound as if they came from a different era. Obama will close out his presidency at what is perhaps the least hopeful moment in American politics in decades, a time when the two major-party candidates have historically low approval ratings and are locked in a bitter and coarse election contest. For much of this year, Obama, like the people who pack his rallies, has puzzled over what happened.

“It’s one of the few regrets of my presidency that the rancor and suspicion between the parties has gotten worse instead of better,” he said at his State of the Union address in January.

I'm incredibly hopeful. As long as Clinton wins. If Trump were to win by some miracle, hopeless wouldn't begin to describe my mood. Scared sh!tless is the first thing that comes to mind.

It's not a hopeless electorate. It's an electorate that disagrees with his ideas of liberal progressivism.

Because he's wrong. And the damage done is everywhere.

He promised to cut the debt in half in four years. Now it is at twenty trillion.

You want to know who created Trump?,

Barack Obama. Trump is a self correction of the USA.

And we're all ready for him.

Those of us who understand the world for what it is. Not what it ought to be.

You are right McGarrett he has totally destroyed our moral fabric and that was his goal. Cities are like warzones, Obamacare is an epic failure which destroyed full time jobs....where I live restaurants are closing like crazy. In one year we lost Ponderosa, Ryans, Lonestar steakhouse, 2 McDonalds, and Friendly's ALL due to economic reasons brought on by Obama.

That is a great point..

As I said before the investigators felt screwed when tey worked tirelessly to bring a case for prosecution..

Coney skewered Clinton when he made his determination...

But something had to happen.. These probably were not the same investigators on the Wiener case.,
