Time to boycott Johnny Depp and all he's even remotely connected to as a consequence for his deeply disturbing remarks about assassinating Donald Trump. You don't like or approve of the president, fair enough, but suck it up, he's still the president. As intensely as I detested Obummer, I never once wished any physical harm to him or his family.

How did you feel about Trump hinting at Hillary being assassinated. Or did he "not do that"?

It would appear a large segment of the movie-going public must have known he was going to stick his foot in it eventually, since they've been avoiding most of his movies for several years now.

Yeah, the selective outrage from the political right is another symptom of what's fundamentally wrong with them.

Do let us know when any of them start using members of Congress as target practice, talk about their desire to blow up the White House, or make John Wilkes Booth out to be a national hero.

More selective outrage, claiming the moral upper hand they do not have:
His "hint" that their voting block could pressure Congress to block the confirmation of any of her SC nominees, that "hint"?

More like this stuff, honey, from that post you didn't read:

They tend to take their aggression out on abortion clinics, minorities, Muslims, and gay people.

If you don't like Depp's assassination joke, by all means don't watch his movies. Just be mindful that right wingers who've used violent rhetoric have been guests at the White House. One of them is even president. Even if you have a different interpretation of Trump's "second amendment people" comment, he once said he'd like to punch a protester in the face at a rally. He also encouraged his supporters to "knock the crap" out of protesters, offering to pay their legal fees in return. If that's not bad enough for you, he also campaigned to kill the innocent family members of terrorists. Unfortunately, that's one of the few campaign promises he's kept.

Sure, let's boycott the incredible body of work that Johnny Depp has created over the years, in defense of that bloated carrot of a fake president who has only himself and his cackle of sycophants to blame for these occasional moments of unhelpful resistance.

I don't actually think traitor Trump truly believes some of the repugnant things he says -- being a malignant narcissist that he is, he'll splatter out anything he thinks will fire up his crass redneck base and give him that absolute adulation that he so pathetically craves.

That however comes with consequences.

It would appear a large segment of the movie-going public must have known he was going to stick his foot in it eventually, since they've been avoiding most of his movies for several years now.

Nonsense. Depp has always placed emphasis on making movies that don't appeal to masses.

One notable exception has of course been the Pirates franchise, the latest installment of which has already made over $650 million worldwide (and counting).

Yeah, despite the thread title, this is not really about Depp's slide at the box office. It's about the double standard of the right wing about who's making physical threats and who isn't.

Liberal comics and actors can't; conservative politicians can all they want to.

I said "most" of his movies because the Pirates franchise is about the only thing going right for him, career-wise. But how many times does one go to that well?

Clickbait drivel.

The box-office rundown clearly shows Johnny Depp has always been -- across the 90s, the 00s and the 10s -- an actor whose movies generate less than $100 million.

It's too sad that it's funny. :lolo: I didn't know one is responsible for everything that all the people one is connected to say! That must mean that I support racism because I know a racist!

Guilty by association.

Then I guess it IS okay afterall to ban Ivanka Trump's brand just because she's a Trump... as she's Donald's daughter.
