Toni, well I suppose Alexis tried to make up for lost time; even if she did make grannies Angela, Patricia and Rebecca look like angels in your top 10. Poor Claudia from DYNASTY and Lucy from DALLAS. The clip you have for Lilimae and Valene from KNOTS LANDING is very funny.


Angela interrupts some call girls, to find out about a business venture Emma has unknowingly become involved in. The seedy business is going on, in one of Angela’s Del Oro suites, (a scene from season 7, 1987 – ‘88):

Hooker: “Hey, what's going on here? Who invited grandma?”

Angela: “Why ladies, and I use that word loosely, tell me this, how much do you make in a night; two, three hundred dollars?”

Hooker: “We don't make anything, whatever the gentlemen care to spend on us.”

Angela: “Suppose the gentlemen would like to spend a thousand dollars; each, in the presence of grandma, so I can ask you a few questions about your dating service.”

Jeff didn't fire Robert, his contract ended like most of the cast except Jane at the end of season six. And I don't renew it to Robert

Ah very good @Toni! You've surpassed yourself yet again, with your most recent collection of videos. Thanks again for keeping FALCON CREST alive, on the internet. Imho Jane; Chao-Li, Abby and Fr. Curtis et. alia are watching from a vineyard afar and saying the Spanish super fan just doesn't put more jam round the jar than is in it (Irish speak).


Melissa is in a psychiatric unit, in 'Our Lady Of The Tuscany Valley' hospital. Angela is doing community service in the same hospital, this is her sentencing for dumping toxic waste at 'Tuscany Downs'. She has managed to use a Doctor's office, to do some of her wine business. The Doctor tells her Melissa needs attention in her room. Angela offers to help, (a scene from season 6, 1986 - '87):

Melissa is in the hospital, after an incident with scissors.

Melissa: "You're not listening to me. I'm not crazy."

Angela: "Of course not! You were just practicing your sewing, which you're not very good at. I also hear that you won't eat."

Melissa: "Not until they get me outta here."

Angela: "Well I'm part of the food brigade. As a community servant it is my job to fatten you up."

Bien hecho, @Toni! While the other three U.S.A. eighties super prime time soaps were reluctant or afraid to use the grim reaper, for the most part in their season finales this wasn't the case with FC. Of course down the road it was potentially a loss because whatever ratings grabber achieved for the end of season and the following season opener we never had a proper reunion, in the nineties or the noughties. Jane retired from acting in '93 after 'Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman' and she always said any new FC would be like chewing your cud twice.

So the brakes were on but I do believe with a good script she might have been encouraged to partake; a two hour slot and a more supernatural element e.g. Angela visiting the graves of all the deceased main characters only for them to appear as ghosts in front of her very eyes and guess who is behind her when his all happens, her nephew Chase. Is he a ghost or ready for battle again? That is how I would have opened a new 2 hour FC, in the nineties.

The most faithful resident of Falcon Crest has been up since the crack of dawn; done his Tai Chi, chores and most importantly already has the breakfast in him. This is the day the earthquake hits California's wine making Tuscany Valley, (a scene from season 5, 1985 - '86):

Emma: "There is something in the air, this morning. It's so heavy; so still, not even the birds are singing."

Angela: "Well there's really not much to sing about!"

.I get why those bad soap ratings forced CBS to try something new on Friday (Whoopi Goldberg's Bagdad Cafe and another sitcom taking over Dallas timeslot & Dallas moving into Falcon Crest's timeslot), but it was sad for the loyal FC fans who missed the last four episodes because they didn't get the news that Falcon Crest was going to be burned off against Cheers.

These are the ratings for the last four episodes in the original timeslot: 9.5-10.2-9.1-8.6.

These are the ratings for the final four episodes against Cheers: 8.1-8.0-9.3-9.3.

In case you're wondering why there's a jump between episodes 20 and 21, Cheers had ended its season and FC only faced Cheers reruns in the last two episodes. Still, I wonder why there was no ratings improvement for the finale. The other CBS soaps had a big jump to the finale compared to the penultimate episode (Dallas from 11.8 to 22.0 and Knots Landing from 11.7 to 13.9), but with Falcon Crest there was nothing. Was there no promotion for the finale or did those viewers who had turned off in previous seasons just not care how Falcon Crest would end?

I think it was necessary to point out that the last episode of the 9th season, according to Monzo, faced reruns of Cheers
It is important because it did not mean any increase in viewers compared to the previous episode. Angela's return did not mean an increase in viewers.

I watched her episode of Dr Quinn Medical Woman and she looked pretty well, much improved from how she was when she returned for the final episodes of Falcon Crest.

I know you have to draw the line somewhere so not all father son relationships can be included but one interesting one that wasn't in your video was Lance and Tony Cumson. They didn't have a huge amount of scenes together but when they did they were usually dramatic.

FC wasn't really noted for father/son relationships (unlike DALLAS); more mother/daughter relationships, as fragmented as they were at times. Of course Chase and Cole plus Richard and the two boys (twilight years) were the notable exceptions. Your video @Toni is still very enjoyable. Of course no surprise at all as to who were your top of the poll recipients.


Angela is doing her daily routine around the various departments of the winery. Chase and Cole meet her at the stainless steel fermentation tanks, (a scene from season 3, 1983 - '84):

Angela: "I've heard about your lawsuit. You'll never get custody of Joseph. It's just a ridiculous waste of time Cole."

Cole: "It won't be so ridiculous when I win."

Angela: "But all you'll succeed in doing is in tearing this family apart."

Chase: "Which is something you have already managed to do quite well."

Cole: "I would settle for joint custody. Now that won't hurt the family."

Angela: "If Joseph was your son I would give you my blessing but he isn't. The child is Lances."

Cole: "I don't think even you believe that Angela."

Angela looks sternly at Chase: "I suppose you are in favour of this."

Chase: "Joseph is my grandson. I'll do whatever I can to help Cole."

Angela: "He is going to need all the help he can get because I will do whatever it takes to keep Joseph at Falcon Crest."

Angela leaves the father and son standing at the tanks, to digest what she has said. Mrs. Channing's next stop is the bottling building.
