A few weeks ago he said she'd gotten a job there, talking to some other character (Jordan, I think) about how they would be trying to make a long-distance marriage work. It was disappointing to hear, since they were dropping major anvils. The longer she is gone, the more "out of sight, out of mind" she becomes, which not only dooms her character but Nathan's, and Mac and Felicia too, since the few times we get to see them are entirely because of her. It's a lousy situation; I wish they had simply switched into another recast of Maxie, since the two other recasts were fairly well-received. If Maxie is not 'missed' during her time away, they may decide to leave her there, and unless they plan to break up N&M to allow Nathan to move on to another romance/story, they may wait until Paevey's contract is up and write him out by having him move to Portland to be with Maxie. Heck, that might be what they're doing right now, what with Nathan's spotty appearances.
As unlikely as it may be that Maxie would get a job working in the fashion industry in Portland, you have to admit it's about as likely as working for a fashion magazine published in obscure Port Charles, NY.
