Not everyone who left Knots Landing could do so as a corpse. Still, is there anyone whose death would have been a better exit story than the character's actual departure? Do you have any idea what that death could have looked like?

In that attic above Falcon Crest
Ben needed to emerge in the final episode in 1993. And maybe he could've explained what happened to Pam.

At least when Valene suddenly reappeared, she could have told us.

After Sid's death, it would have been quite cruel to take Karen's daughter away from her as well.

But what about Eric? Is it known whether the writing team considered killing Eric off after Steve Shaw's death? Surely a plot could have been developed around his demise. The divorce would never have been finalized, so Linda could have inherited, or Eric could have been murdered, and Karen and Mack could have searched for the killer.

I'm sorry but I think that would have been in poor taste.

It's very different from Jim Davis' death because I'm sure Jock would have died anyway, it's just that circumstances decided when that should happen.

My, my...we're a bloodthirsty lot, aren't we? ;)

In my mind, after Sid's car went over the cliff, Diana seemingly ran away. Karen and the others just assume she ran off to cry/emote in private and never investigate. it's several episodes later before we learn she was in the trunk of the car...and Sid drove off the cliff on purpose.
