Who will replace Biden as the Democratic nominee?

I honestly don't know why Kamala is so dug in to keeping him on the ticket. It's harming her. Voters see her as duplicitous in this long con.
Well, no matter how she may feel privately, publicly she isn’t going to do anything other than support him. That could also look bad for her in this case if she didn’t. Then these same voters would be questioning her loyalty.

I've heard it said that it is "feared" that a vote for Biden is a vote for Harris, but I think maybe they should lean into that and emphasise the continuity. Instead of trying to pretend he's Superman, Joe should say something like, "I know I'm an old man, but if I fall, Kamala will pick up the torch and carry on our programme, but Trump will tear it all down." Try to make it about policy instead of a personal contest between two old dodderers.

Harris's word salad speeches are almost as unintelligible as Biden's ramblings. The awkward cackle she does is just the cherry on top. It reminds me of when Stephen Colbert asked her why she agreed to be Biden's VP after heavily criticizing him (particularly for his work with segregationists to oppose bussing.) She cackled and said "It was a debate!" Like most politicians, her principles are for sale. Of course, it probably helped knowing that Biden shared her support for harshly penalizing non-violent offenders.

As for making it about policy, I'm not sure running on inflation, stagnant wages, a homeless crisis, a border crisis, and funding more wars than Trump is an effective strategy.

I suppose she can point to the few crumbs they've given people, such as the weak infrastructure bill and eliminating some student debt. Of course, that debt doesn't just disappear. US taxpayers will be on the hook for it. That might not be a problem if the economy was doing well for the lower and middle classes, but as per usual, it's the wealthy who are benefiting. The majority of Biden/Harris supporters are likely upper-class neoliberals. The election isn't about policy for them, considering they'll be okay no matter who is in office. What they're interested in is civility politics. They want a president that gives lip service to democracy, speaks in empty platitudes, and isn't a boor like Trump.

The only true continuity is that of imperialism and economic inequality, which is maintained regardless of whether we have a Democratic or a Republican administration.

I don't like Trump and given the opportunity I wouldn't vote for him. What I do love is he upset the establishment, the status quo, and yet to this day they, the establishment and Trump haters, still don't understand how he managed to get into the Oval Office and potentially for the second time.

That sums up my feelings about Trump as well. I'm not a fan of his and I'll never vote for him, but I'm glad he exposed just how superficial the establishment's complaints are.

Some people refuse to understand that Trump is a symptom of systemic political rot. They think the US would be a utopia if he was gone, as if that were ever the case.

Probably the same people who think the world would be a utopia if all the men were gone and everything was run by women -- "preachy" women.

I hate Trump and have never voted for him. But I'd hoped his 2016 election, albeit via the electoral college, would quell the screechiness from the pseudo-left and nudge them into greater introspection. Yet the reverse happened.

I heard somebody on some podcast the other day say the same thing I did: they hate Hillary, but out of "my own selfishness" they want to see her replace Biden (and possibly even take the White House) because of the sheer shit-show entertainment of it.

Nihilism. It's what's for dinner.

And the more scandals during her presidency, the higher the entertainment value. She'd have her hands full as it is keeping Bubba away from the Viagra and interns.

No, he'd be replaced after the convention, once he's been ordained as the nominee. Then the DNC gods and goddesses can replace him with whomever they choose, and the public will have no say so.
Kamala Harris is the only legal replacement for Biden because of campaign finance law, Dr. Jill isn't about up to give up her power, and Sleazy Hunter has to keep good old Dad president so that he can have his sentence commuted and stay on the Biden gravy train. The Bidens are calling the shots, not the DNC. They will sadly Weekend At Bernie poor elder abused Joe, and if God help us he is re-elected, Kammie will invoke the 25th amendment so fast after he takes the oath of office on Innauregation Day our heads will spin.

Well, that's what "they" told us in 2020, remember? All those dire warnings that Joe was a demented old puppet and the 25th would be invoked immediately? And Kamala would have an "accident" and then Pelosi would be president?

None of it ever happened.

There's no need to invoke the 25th amendment. The power resides in the office, not the man. So long as he holds office, his aides will run the country as they see fit.

That is what should scare the country and our allies, none of us knows who is actually President of The United States. There was no need to invoke the 25th amendment before the cover-up of the extent of Biden's deteriorating condition was exposed live on CNN for the world to see. There is now, the DNC is in a full panic. Kammie wants to be President and won't hesitate to do it if Joe makes it to Innauregation Day.

I said as early as 2018 that Biden had dementia, and that was two years before he was elected. So his team has been covering up stuff -- as has most of the corporate media (except for FOX, of course) -- for a long time, most of his public dementia-addled flubs receiving minimal coverage until now.

What were they thinking by setting poor Joe loose in a nationally-televised debate (one he didn't need to do) where his issues were inevitably going to land like a giant dump -- probably his -- on the stage?? I was frankly surprised he wasn't even worse.

Were they doing it so a new candidate could replace him after the convention (which means they'll have to reroute those donations elsewhere) or are they planning to indeed have Kamala take over if Biden is actually re-elected... The DNC so desperately wants a black woman (but one who's as corrupt as any male caucasian in the party -- or either party, frankly) in the oval office, so the idea of coronating Harris post-election, a la the 25th amendment, may have pushed the DNC even further into denial than it already is.

I can't figure it out, their game plan (if they have one). But it's fascinating.

In any event, late-stage capitalism sucks.

Right which is why I still mostly think doddering Joe is just going to be lugged around for the next four years -- all of these rumors are the same as four years ago, about how Joe was going to be replaced immediately after the convention and when that didn't happen, immediately at the start of his presidency.

But it is getting harder to hide. And Joe could, also, just flat-out croak at any moment.

And we've Cackling Queen Kamala.

I probably am the only person on this forum who feels this way, but I would prefer Kamala to Biden and certainly over Trump.

She's utterly corrupt, though, as much as Old Joe or The Donald.

So is Hillary, of course. But her bitchery would be more fun to watch than Kamala's eyes cross as she pretends her vocabulary includes the words the reporter just used.

Hilary isn't a viable candidate in any way, shape, or form.

Kamala is corrupt, but has all her wits about her and won't appoint SCOTUS justices selected by the Heritage Foundation.

The difference is Biden's dementia has noticeably progressed far beyond what it was four years ago. Casual political observers finally got a front row seat to it at the debate.

Before the debate, the Dems brushed off those rumors as a right-wing conspiracy. Now some of the most prominent Democrats are calling for Biden to be replaced.
