Will the new domain name be tellyaddicts.net or something else?

I'm just wondering as doing a google search using "Telly Addicts" produces a large number of results relating to the Noel Edmonds' hosted quiz show of the same name. :D

I can now confirm that our new domain name will indeed be tellyaddicts.net

Well I can't wait. I just love a controversial revamp. Haven't been this excited since Kathy returned to Eastenders!

It's the end....but the moment has been prepared for!

Wise words from Doctor Who, the only show on TV that completely reinvents itself every few years. I'm all for anything that brings in new visitors and members, I think it's a great idea and really hope the new forum does well.

Once I am back to work (after 9 months now of not working due to Covid-19) I will be more than happy to make a donation - this is a fantastic forum, with wonderful members and some great topics and conversations going on.

Bring on the Telly Addicts...(I auditioned for the BBC1 quiz way back in the 90's as a Royal Navy team...we didn't get on because we got every question right! (seriously!).

Whoa. Things are a-changin'!

Americans know what 'telly' is, although we don't use it.

I'm excited for the refresh. It makes me feel nostalgic for the old times, but it's a new era, so onwards and updwards we go!

from Soap Chat to Telly Addicts.

So, Soap Chat will be the same forum but with a new face? How very soapy of it!

The word 'Soap' in itself may have put some people off visiting or joining, if all they thought we discussed were soaps.
:)

I know that soaps were not the only thing on the menu-- you did have a number of other lively subforums, a few of which I took a great deal of advantage of.

BTW, will my post count here carry forward to the new Telly Addicts, or will I have to start over?

Ive been out all day and walked 15 miles so feeling chuffed with myself @Angela Channing - i now resemble a lobster in the pot tho

Im a traditional Ultimate Dallas girl, I had it on a T shirt lol but Im sure I will cope with Telly Addicts (and No Noel Edmonds or Tidybeard as Sir Tel used to say! https://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=a957bXwkyyw )

And as @JROG says Onwards and upwards and hopefully far less down time than in the past few months

I will raise a glass to the future full of hope, good posting and

2017 I think (unless it is 2016)

Yes, we have heard it is part of weird things across the pond, like those extra"u"s in "favourite," "neighbour" etc.

Hi Frank, remember we used to be Ultimate Dallas before Soap Chat - so this is just another change and hopefully the beginning of something refreshing and new for us.

The name change came about because it was easier to do it this way and we believe changing the word 'Soap' to 'Telly' may open up the forums and breathe new life into them. We hope to attract many new members.

The word 'Soap' in itself may have put some people off visiting or joining, if all they thought we discussed were soaps.

:)

My best wishes to everybody working on "the change".

However... couldn´t the word "Addicts" also put some people off visiting or joining, as if we discussed... addictions?
