I'm on episode 22 about to start 23. I have no real issues yet, except that it's a bit redundant. Mark Love Pam and wants to marry, she is reluctant. Jenna won't tell Bobby who Charlie belongs to. Sue Ellen hates JR and leads Peter on.

Nothing bad here. We are still in the quality years. Even Jamie's imminent arrival wont spoil things too much.

I made this post to point out how great Linda Gray is here. She had a terrific emotional arc this season. She went from loving JR the previous to feeling betrayed. Falling off the wagon, injuring Mickey and then her affair with Peter. I have no issues, other than she's always been a beautiful woman and the 80's was unkind to most of the Dallas babes with too much make-up and ugly dresses and haircuts. All the ladies experience bad haircuts and make-up at some point. Except Lucy.

One of the best spots of this season that I had kinda forgotten about how good it was, was Ray taking the fall for Aunt Lillian's mercy kill of Mickey. Beautifully acted and paced. Although it was odd we didn't hear from Lil ever again. Too bad for Mickey as well as he lightened up towards the end and I found him funny. He gave poor Lucy something to do for once.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, is this NOT JR's last shark moments on screen? I know his Edgar Randolph squeeze lasts into season 8, but as a brand new storyline, it seems this was the last time when JR was fun, nasty, conniving scoundrel with that glint in his eyes we all so love. That bastard who loved to win and we loved to see him win.

As in Season 6, just like 7- Charlene Tilton's hair- my GOD! I have never seen a more beautiful head of hair. So thick and glowing, endless wall of hair. I wanted to bask in its beauty!

On a sad note, its the end of the line for the most part for my crazy Katherine Wentworth. She was the second most beautiful head of hair next to Charlene. Although Morgan takes the top spot for those diamond eyes! Sparkle in the camera lens. Such a doll who dispatched way too early and should have stayed on way longer. Her murder of Bobby seemed way out of the blue anyway... .Oh look, It's Katherine again!

Lil shows up one more time - during the dream season. I believe it’s when Ray and Donna want to adopt Tony, and Ray’s conviction for Mickey’s death comes up.

Season 7 has a new cinematographer. Everything is cast in shadows and low light. I wonder if this was done at the behest of the aging actors or just a style switch compared to the previous seasons.

You've noted Bradford May's work. His work on Dallas is still talked about today and I'm one of those fans. His use of lighting and filming techniques is sublime and it elevated Dallas to another level it deserved. Uncle Lenny didn't appreciate it though and Bradford was let go. You will notice the stark contrast when you watch Miss Ellie descend the Southfork stairs to meet her sons JR and Bobby on her way to marry Clayton. The lighting was so bright Miss Ellie nearly blended into the wallpaper.

This was the last great season of Dallas as the following season is when the rot sets in. Barbara Bel is missing in action. That GOD awful actress from Three's Company is hired and Audrey Landers and Morgan Brittany are let go.

It’s funny how when I originally watched the show I was completely in awe of the hair, make up and costumes worn by Linda, Victoria, Susan et al. Looking back, however, I agree that, at times, the styling was so over the top that it spoiled their obvious beauty. I hate Linda’s mullet and bouffant hair do’s and am so relieved when I watch the repeats that she eventually went back to longer hair which suited her so much better. I guess we can blame the 80’s for being the decade of excess and, therefore, influencing the way that the women looked on the show, but a little more restraint and slightly more natural styling would, in my opinion, have served those lovely ladies so much better :)

It wasnt the ladies faults. They all gorgeous. I was always struck by how old Linda Gray looked and she wasnt. Method acting..
Especially how fantastic she looked in the sequel series.

Season 8 isnt bad on the surface it just adds into what doesnt work in 9, 10 and beyond.
The two things hurt S8 is Katherine out and Jennilee Harrison woefully miscast. Still the series is watchable. Despite Bobbys death being now pointless, its a beautifully acted and scored scene. Might have made history had they left it alone and not brought him back.

When doing a rewatch, season 7 holds up better than expected. It's just not a season that pops into mind when you first think of Dallas.

As a real fan of Jock and Ray's relationship, it was nice to see Ray turn around a become the same thing for Mickey.

Mickey was good by the end of his run and Lucy had something to do besides pine away for peter.
Charlene Tilton was a good actress-- she just didn't have anything to do. The Mickey Trotter storyline was when you could see her acting skills truly on display.

A side note: She said in an interview that when she was let go from Dallas, the producers and her agent told her, "Tell people that you left to pursue other opportunities."
Charlene shot back, "I'm not saying that. They didn't have any storylines for me and they fired me. That's exactly what I'm going to say."

Sounds exactly like a Lucy thing to say as well!

Tilton was fine. Never understood why she was such a wanderer. Didnt do anything. Was hoping in the sequel series she would have become a lawyer or head of her own company or something. 7th season is her best season. She has mickey and then breaks open the Peter/Sue Ellen affair.
I hated goody goody Mitch. Such a bore. He should have been a gambler or gotten into some serious trouble she asks for JRs help....
