When 1980s Soaps and Real Life Converge

Several 198Os prime time soap characters, e.g JR, Abby, Angela, Greg and Alexis, have made some memorable comments and retorts. Has anyone ever actually used one in real life.
I just did. There was a work related issue involving our new contract. I used JR's line to Kristin, "It takes brains to know when to be scared. Now's the time to be scared." I prefaced it by saying, "A wise man from the 1980s once said..." However, I omitted the part, "...and since brains are in short supply around here..." I considered including it, but thought it would be seen as too hostile and distract from my overall point.

I’ve done this quite a few times to be honest. Once at work there was a time when they were cutting back and people were complaining about their hours. Well, I was getting a little tired of all the moaning and whining so to get them to finally shut up I stole a Pamela Ewing line. I can’t remember when exactly she said it now but I just went, and in a very disgusted way just like her, “How much money do we all need?” It got really quiet after that so I guess I delivered it right. Of course no one knew where I got it from.

I also did it 2 years ago in a tv show (where I wanted to sell a Dynasty script and ear rings worn by Joan on the show) ...
when I´m entered I did my best Dynasty job

I use a lot of Sue Ellen's "you bastard!"s. And the line Alexis never used but always should've, "you filthy bitch!"

But then I'm not very creative. And almost monosyllabic in real life.

When in doubt -- which I always am -- stick with the gendered bitch/bastard slams. They never really get old, they're easy to remember and people enjoy them.

I've been known to greet co-workers with Emma Channing's infamous "How's tricks?", though I know they have no idea who she was or the context. They think the hooker connotation is funnier anyway.
