Was Sly the last woman JR had sex with?

In Season 14, JR sought comfort from Sly and had sex with her. I don't remember him sleeping with any other woman after her, but maybe I'm wrong.

Are you happy with Sly as JR's last sex partner? Was it a gift to longtime fans or was it more of a punishment for those who stayed with the show to the bitter end?

If you go by TNT, the movies didn't exist, and therefore Anita Smithfield didn't exist, and it seems like JR hadn't experienced sex since he met the devil and returned on TNT. Do you think Sly was the last woman he got intimate with not only in the original show but in his life in general?

JR was engaged to Vanessa so she probably came after Sly (so to speak). I thought his fling with Sly was fun in a last-season-anything-can-happen sort of way.

I wasn't a fan of JR's and Sly's one night stand when it originally aired, but I'm grateful now because it ended the what if that still exists today with Bobby and Phyllis (would she have been the right one after Pam left?) or with Cliff and Jackie (could she have handled him?).

What I like most about the one night stand was that it obviously didn't impress Sly. There were a number of women who were very enthusiastic about JR's qualities in bed and it could have happened that after that night with JR Sly wanted more, sexually and also emotionally.

I wonder if Sly cheated on her boyfriend with JR. A few episodes later, Sly quits and tells JR about her new love. Was the one night stand with JR perhaps some sort of ending to a crush on JR and she was open to genuine love that came straight to her or was she already in a relationship and just giving in to the moment with JR?

I could be wrong, but I think he slept with Sly after Vanessa was gone. Sly might be the last woman, but then again, going by the movies, of course, there was Anita Smithfield, and who is to say he didn't hook up with anyone while he was away prior to the movies... was it England? If you go with the TNT version, and remove the movies, then, yes, quite possibly Sly was the last woman, but do we really know if old JR didn't mess around with a call girl or two?

The bulge they were enthusiastic about was his wallet.

Apart from his drunken advance in the mini series, perhaps they should have explored JR’s ‘special feeling’ for Pam again. There was often a faintly detectable frisson during their spirited encounters, at least from his side.

Pam wouldn't have slept with JR.

She couldn't stand him! :)

It wasn't long after they had sex that Sly informed JR she was getting married and leaving Dallas. I’ve always wondered whether Sly was already in a relationship when she hooked up with JR, or if she fell head over heels for her future husband after her one night stand. After Sly quit, JR offered her position to Phyllis (Bobby had already left Ewing Oil), but Phyllis turned it down—and even quit herself! Was that rude of her, or was it the right decision?

Was there ever any thought given to showing Sly’s brother—was his name Britt?—in the series? I could imagine him being a love interest for Lucy, either in season 8 instead of Eddie or in season 12 instead of Casey. In season 12, it would have had the advantage—given the thinned-out cast—of allowing us to see more of Sly and her brother; for instance, she might have worried about losing her job if Britt broke Lucy’s heart, although, would the JR even be interested in that? Who could have played Sly’s brother? By the way, regarding family connections we never actually learned about, I picture Sly and Randy as cousins. Somehow, they both look like they could share common ancestors.

Is it actually known what led to JR and Bobby getting new secretaries—Bobby in season 4 and JR in season 5? Were Jeanna Michaels and Meg Gallagher fired, or did one of them leave voluntarily, causing the other to be let go as well? I can imagine they might not have received much fan mail, and the producers thought there was more potential to be tapped regarding the Ewing brothers' secretaries. For me, Sly and Phyllis are the ultimate Dallas secretaries, but I certainly wouldn't have minded if the producers had kept Louella and Connie on and had them stay until the end of the series.

I feel that Phyllis made the right decision in turning down J.R's offer, and was justified in what she said to him. After all, he lost the original Ewing Oil..and that's only one in a handful of things she had witnessed him doing over the years..I don't blame her a bit.

I always thought they got rid of Connie because it was implied she had a crush on Bobby,, and maybe tried to kiss him when he was talking to her about marriage problems. Truth be told, I could be totally off base here, but I seem to recall there being a kind of awkwardness when they let her go. With Lou Ella, I could have seen her staying on, and becoming more demanding of J.R...maybe kind of a sort of Julie arrangement.

Actually, she did kiss him (platonically) in that scene, and then she only appeared in one more scene. I always took for granted that she was in love with him and did what was best for him: quitting. Yes, Phyllis said she was sick. I´d add she was "love" sick.

It's getting interesting for me that it's finally beginning to get to a point that I'm having a little trouble remembering certain things about this show. Especially the fact that this is something from the Jock years. I mean, I used to have these on VHS long before the DVDs, and now streaming. I'm starting to have a craving for the show again, but it's no longer free over here, and my DVD player no longer works. I may have to break down and buy a season or two to stream. I miss it.

Yes, I remembering something suspect with Connie. I think you're right, that it was more implied that she had a thing for him. I like how they didn't always hit us over the head with things back then, it was implied..and then she was gone. It was a subtle vibe they gave us to work with, maybe almost too subtle, but I think it was just about right.

I was having a memory of Pam noticing lipstick on Bobby's shirt, but I couldn't remember if we saw a scene where Connie tried to kiss him, or it was never seen on screen. So, it was a friendly kiss? In my head, I just couldn't quite recall if she made an advance, and he backed away, or how exactly it went down. I do think she probably quit because of her feelings, and realizing it wasn't ever going to happen because of Pam.

No, Pam did notice the lipstick and made one of her proud Pam scenes where she said something like "Nobody made me love out of pity" (oh Pammie, I do believe that...). Poor Connie just kissed him on his cheek after saying goodbye, very innocently and sadly...

Last year, Dallas started airing reruns from the beginning in my home country, though the series was cancelled after the fifth season. I started watching it again and recorded the episodes so I could watch them at my own pace—once a week, with a break between seasons. I’m currently on the fifth episode of the fourth season, and it’s amazing how many details I’d forgotten. In the first episodes of season 4, while JR was away from Ewing Oil, it happened more than once that Bobby dictated something to Connie in his office and filled her in on his plans (he wanted—and succeeded—to buy a refinery, a move intended to please Jock, which it did). On several occasions, he would ask Louella—via the intercom, rather than asking Connie, who was right there with him—to connect him with someone, such as Franklin Horner (regarding the loan for the refinery). In those episodes, JR often let Bobby know that he was aware of what Bobby was up to; fortunately, Bobby wasn't surprised, for given how routinely he used Louella to place calls, it was hardly surprising that this information reached JR.

Still, I keep wondering why Connie and Louella had to leave, because both exits were plot-driven to me. Connie suddenly fell in love with her boss, and Louella was fired for a mistake (failing to intercept a key witness and keep him out of town) that would have actually suited the incompetent Kristin—when she had filled in for her—better. Louella was probably the secretary who was the best match for JR. She would sleep with him when the mood struck without making a drama out of it unlike Julie. But perhaps it was the experience with Julie and Louella that made Sly off-limits to JR. I actually think Sly was so good at her job that JR felt it would be a mistake to lose her over a fling.

Regarding Sly, my memory is a bit hazy about her brother. I have a vague idea that her brother—is his name really Britt, or is Steve the right one?—was in prison for drug possession, but I could be mistaken. By the way, why couldn't Sly's so-called uncle, Harry McSween, help out?
