The re-run of Dallas in HD version and original Italian dubbing continued today from 6:50 to 11:30 (6 episodes from the 1978/1979 season).

Very few commercial breaks and a truly remarkable image quality, much superior to that of the complete collections on DVD (English) and the episodes recorded by my mother on VHS (Italian) in 1992/1993.

On Saturday evening/night the reruns will be broadcast. Obviously in a few days in the morning I will be at work.

This was the most welcome Christmas present that Warner TV Italy could give to and all the Italian fans of Dallas.

I hope that the same will soon happen in all the Countries in the World.

Certainly, it won't be easy for me to watch Dallas in the morning ... starting in the next few days.

But since I know all the episodes by heart, every time can watch one, I will always be able to follow all the events very well.

Not having listened to the dialogues of Dallas in Italian for many years now, I must admit the Italian voice actors of old time were the best possible actors.

Great actors the original interpreters and great Italian voices !

Unfortunately, even the episode "Red File - Part 2" has about 25% of the original dialogues in English and Italian subtitles. I don't understand how important pieces of the dubbing were lost. I have my VHS with audio that has lost quality over time, but at least it's still there.

Yikes. How do you mean?
I reported the episodes John Ross III part 1 and 2 were completely dubbed with new voices much less professional and above all different from those of the classic version.

Fortunately the first episode of the 1979-1980 season has the original Italian dubbing again.

And the HD quality of this season show warmer colors than the DVD and VHS versions of the original American episodes.

The same thing happened in Spain with episodes 3 and 5 when the show started being released on dvd: the voices were all too modern-sounding and the women sounded all high-pitched (in the original dubbing they had deep but beautiful voices, especially Pam and Swellin). I hope they won´t redub more episodes for Italy!

Unfortunately in Italy, not even a single season of Dallas has ever been released on DVD and, apart a few VHS from 1985, 1996 and 1998 movies, nothing else has ever been sold.

As I have said several times, in the two-year period 1992/1993 I "locked" my mother in the house to record on VHS all the episodes in reruns on Telemontecarlo TV with the original Italian audio. Except for 3/4 episodes not recorded due to storms and television failures, I have all the recordings. Over the years, the video and audio quality has become steadily worse, but it exists.

Then I purchased the collection box set with all the DVDs in English via Amazon.

Finally, I recovered additional English versions via pendrive for faster consultation of the episodes, compared to the original DVDs.

The holidays are over and since yesterday it is really impossible for me to watch 5/6 episodes in the early hours of the morning.

The show has reached the 1979-1980 season and it seems the original Italian dubbing is all there.

In this season the HD quality has benefited the image of Alan Beam, less dark and gloomy than appeared in the original version. To me he also seems younger and more suitable for Lucy.

"Return Engagements"
Original airdate: 12/21/1979

Episode summary: Gary and Valene get hitched and move to Knot's Landing. JR takes Kristin on a faux business trip and catches her in bed with another man.

Often underrated episode.
Perfect script in relation to the main topic that progressively involves Lucy, Valene, Miss Ellie, Gary, Bobby, Jack and JR.

The other part of the story in parallel involving JR, Kristin, Eugene and Sally Bullock, as well as Rudy Middleton is also very interesting.

Between these two events the role of manipulator Sue Ellen who from her position in the living room where she works the wool tries to create problems for all the other characters.

A masterpiece of an episode, to be watched again carefully.

Scoop. For the first time I heard Barbara Bel Geddes speaking with the voice of ... Donna Reed !

Many episodes of the 1979-1980 season broadcast on Warner TV Italy these days, come from new dubbing, not the original Italian one broadcast from 1981 (RAI TV and then Berlusconi's Canale 5) to 1992/1993 (Telemontecarlo TV).

During the first programming in Italy, when Donna Reed arrived to replace Barbara Bel Geddes, her Italian voice also changed. Who knows why.

Now, in the dubbings after 1993, sometimes Barbara Bel Geddes takes on the voice of Reed.

A sensation that makes you shiver, really!

My VHS with the original dubbing should be safeguarded as UNESCO heritage !
