Is Another Dallas Reboot Planned For Peacock?

the opening killer episode requires one legacy character or characters to be killed off to bring the Ewing family back to Southfork. Personally I'd chose Ray and Jenna.

Oh, yes. Jenna. Let's kill Jenna!

Whodunnit? Like with MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS.......

All the focus should be on the Ewing family...but for one adversary...Jeremy Wendell. How's William Smithers holding up at 98?

All that adrenochrome, don'tchyaknow.

But how would a new sequel deal with the mess Cidre left behind? How could someone repair the damage she did to the series?
I think it's possible with a good writers team who understand the original Dallas.

I did my own attempt at picking up after the Dallas TNT show in my fanfic "Forgiveness" that I have posted in the writer's room. It picks up at Cliff Barnes' funeral and everything that happened on Dallas TNT is considered canon too. But I've reversed a couple of storylines I didn't like.

I'm one for umbrella explanations -- when possible -- to rationalize seeming contradictions.

For example, in the 1986 THE EARLY YEARS (**not RETURN TO SOUTHFORK) prequel movie, they should have filmed at the Box Ranch, not yet burned. Later in oldDALLAS, mention that the ranch house was hit by a twister only a few months after Bobby brought Pamela home ("must've been an omen," remarks JR). And since the prequel was filmed at the "new" Southfork anyway, state that it was burned in the '60s, reconstructed as the Box Ranch, and then was hit by that twister in 1978 and again reconstructed out of nostalgia to look like the original house we saw in the prequel and most of the series.

Stupid? Yeah, but what are you gonna do?

And that doesn't fix the fact that the prequel has tiny Bobby & Pam meeting at a barbecue in 1951 when neither of them were born yet, given that it was specified in 1980 that they were both born in late 1952. Never mind Bobby's headstone showing his birthyear as 1949 (but that was a dream, and we know Pam always misremembers ages) and that his I.D. card when he was kidnapped early in the first full season shows he was born in 1966 and therefore just 12 years old.

So then you just explain that someone mis-recalled those dates.

Barring that, that aquifer under Southfork that Jeremy Wendell poisoned in 1984, which caused the Ewings to perceive Mama with a different head for a year, was still having its long-term effect on the family's memory and cognition. Thus, any discrepancy can be corrected.

Where is anyone getting any info about this from? I can't find a peep besides a fan wiki, which sounds fake af let's be honest.
The summary is ridiculous:
Larry Hagman will appear as J.R. Ewing through the use of artificial intelligence, although the character will still remain deceased and these will simply be flashbacks. Ken Kercheval will also make a posthumous appearance as Cliff Barnes using the same techniques.
Thirteen years following J.R.'s death, Cliff Barnes is found dead and Bobby is framed for his murder. John Ross Ewing III returns to the family in order to try and clear his uncle's accusations and teams up with a now changed Christopher Ewing.

Without any citation at all.
Someone called Nathan Johnson put that info there, but it looks like anyone could make an account and edit that page.

IMO, it's not happening, and it likely won’t for a long time. If it ever does, it’ll probably be similar to the Dynasty remake, a light, loosely reimagined reboot rather than a true continuation of the original series.

a continuation centered on the murder of Jenna could mean only one thing: the indomitable Charlotte “Charlie” Wade in her rightful place in charge of the mighty Ewing empire. Southfork, Ewing Galactic, Valentine Lingerie, Ray and Clayton’s cutting horse business — everything. The failure to this date to bring this to reality borders on criminal negligence on the part of whichever dozens of entities own the rights to the intellectual property.

But, for professional reasons, Patrick kind of had to say that. The only criticism that I heard that he made about nuDALLAS was that it seemed "less pure" than many fans wanted.
The irony is he recently (perhaps on Two Bitches From Texas...Morgan Fairchild and her sister's podcast) attempted to insult original DALLAS for straying into drug cartel storylines and losing sight of the family. Obviously forgetting it was Cidre's version that blew off the rails with the Mexican drug cartels....and Patrick continues to blow smoke up her a$$.

You weren't even exaggerating. He's surely getting mixed up between the Angelica Nero stuff and the new series, but that's not what he's saying verbally...

Yes, I believe it's doable. Unfortunately, I don't think anyone with the power to make it happen would want to.

To defend Patrick slightly again, producer Peter Dunne was pushing for a drug cartel story for his dream season, but Larry was appalled and nixed it.

So Patrick might be confusing it with what the writers did do in the 2012 reboot. (Especially since Duffy wasn't in the dream season since Bobby was busy being dead for a while).

Let's face it, many of us remember the storylines better than many of the actors do, a lot of whom haven't seen their own shows since they filmed them decades before.

Dallas, reboot or continuation would simply not work anymore IMO. The original was made at a perfect time, everything that could go right did and we all loved it. But let's not lose sight of how bad it went before being put out of it's misery and cancelled. TNT tried but distorted the shows canon intensely meaning any continuation will likely follow on with that. As much as I would have loved the show to return in the past, I fear bringing it back now would further diminish it's legacy.

Does that also explain why the last few seasons of oldDALLAS sucked, too?

DALLAS could work in any era, but it would have to have the correct producer. And that hasn't been the case since 1988.

Amen to that :bravo1:

The last few seasons sucked because hardly any of the original cast were left - Larry and Patrick werent Dallas - it was an ensemble show and the ones that were left were sidelined

bring in a whole bunch of second rate / hammy actors and actresses that most fans didnt give a stuff about and its not Dallas

The final season was awful and have never watched it again - Dallas 1978 to Pam being hit by a truck (minus Dreary Dear Reed year) was Dallas - great casting, main and secondary characters (with a few exceptions) and good storylines and plots - Later series couldnt hold a candle to the glory years of 79 - 83 = a cast and family you cared about, on screen and off. Final years had no heart or soul and very few characters to care about

I had hope for a few minutes until I saw Pedro Pascal- much too busy with Mandolorian to do a lowly television series. Besides, he's too old. And there are other actors out there and Jesse Metcalf is still working- still looking good.

Harris Ryland and his nasty ole Mama had a few more seasons left in them.
