The biopic mania continues! Daliland, Oppenheimer, Barbie, Elton John, Queen, Michael Jackson, James Stewart, Sylvester Stallone.

I blame The Beatles.

There's a James Stewart biopic out later this year too.

I've seen the trailers, but I'm so worried that KJ Apa isn't going to "live up" to the task.

Everything about this is weird.

Holland looks nothing like Fred Astaire; Gene Kelly, maybe.

Astaire was, as far as I know, opposed to being portrayed on screen and apparently his widow and estate have continued the objection. I don't think a person necessarily gets to decide if a biopic is made anymore than they can prevent a person from writing a biography, but it makes the vibe around this project awkward.

Mostly, though, I just don't think Astaire had an interesting life. He was a great dancer and a hard working professional but I don't recall anything particularly interesting about his personal life other than, maybe, a minor rivalry with Ginger Rogers.

[Snarky Oracle!]

In real life, he's very shy.

Thank you.

Yes, I figured we needed a good thread to banner all things biopic, whether they be made-for-TV or for the big screen.

And this one too:

PS: I can´t stand Holland and all his promotion of hyperventilating, thin as air, presumptuous, straight-for-pay colleagues. Young American actors of today suck. Ok, I said it.

[Angela Channing]

And this one too:

This is a good film, although Harry Lawty never seems to be entirely natural when he acts. He has a good screen presence though. Toby Jones is always good value.

I can´t stand Holland

Another one that doesn't look completely natural and effortless on screen, unlike his wife who is an amazing actor.

Looks like Snoop Dogg is going to be the next one (no trailer yet).

I still don't know about this.
