But why was there so little color in the '80s, other than the clothes? At best, we got a few pastels!

The set as it was from Season 3 onward...

Obviously, the French door at the dead wing isn't where the house ended (presumably, the studio was too small the extend it any further) so they should have had a solid door there instead (leading to God-knows-where). If they wanted sunlight streaming into the foyer, then just do it from the solarium under the stairwell landing and the huge window surrounding the door on the landing!

The French door led outside to the lilypond, and the kitchen was at the opposite end of the house. :) But agreed on the solarium/upper window.

Also, on my Updated Layout, I'd have the "French Room" be where Krystle and Alexis had their very first faceoff.

I'm not sure why Filoli would have a "French Room", but I figure for the Carrington mansion, that particular room serves as a reception room of sorts for the lady of the house; it serves the purpose of speaking with new acquaintances, interviewing potential new employees, or entertaining "new friends" (aka the wives of her husband's clients), etc.

But this would, for Krystle's first encounter with Alexis, send the message to the latter that she is NOT family or a close friend.

Why do you think the lilypond was outside the French door in the truncated dead wing of the hall?

And whatever is beyond that door, the house clearly doesn't end there, does it?

Oh, yeah. That scene has always been a problem. Because the location has never made any sense.

Nor does the scene where Alexis looks out of the library window and sees Krystle sitting by the lily pond.

Or all those scenes from Season 2 where no matter which window you look out of in the house, you have a perfect shot of Alexis' little art studio.

So these things can't be taken literally in that they'll have the actors look/walk through whatever window/door is most convenient.

It's like Southfork where, especially early on, you have these guest rooms with windows on all four walls, and you can't figure out where they could possibly be located.

Logically, the lily pond should be located just outside the dining room -- if one goes by the set and the general structure of Filoli. (Not that logic has anything to do with it).
