You are 100% right here. When remaking old TV shows (either for the small or big screen), the powers-that-be involved never assemble the right actors for the roles.

They tried this a decade ago. I initially thought this was a 10 year old discussion being bumped up.
Yes, there was the MOCKINGBIRD LANE pilot movie that ended up airing as a mere special. I remember my dad telling me about this when it was new, but I've never seen it -- well, not beyond the trailers and other short TV promos online.

Hollywood has never been more creatively bankrupt.
This sums up Hollywood in a nutshell. Their "let's remake everything" mentality is exhausting and often doesn't have market value anyway.

This sums up Hollywood in a nutshell. Their "let's remake everything" mentality is exhausting and often doesn't have market value anyway.
I think there are two problems.
1. they keep remaking the same hits over and over again and ignore the (many) ones that could actually benefit from a make-over.
2. they remake it in a way that will please everybody, usually with very bland results. It's all about those "safe" decisions, a strange kind of damage control.
