This storyline was a lot of fun because this time around we didn't get to see J.R. doing his scheming. Instead, we (along with Bobby) found out about the scheme little by little as Bobby put the pieces together.

To refresh your memory:
Bobby buys $18 million of oil from Venezuela and hires the Bullocks to ship the oil. The tanker sinks on the way to deliver the oil to Bobby.
We are as surprised as Bobby to find out that his oil wasn't insured, and that the tanker was insured for way over value.
We follow Bobby as he figures out that J.R. and Sally conspired to over insure a worthless tanker and have it sink to the bottom of the ocean. At the same time, they would sneak Bobby's oil onto another tanker so they could steal the oil from Boby. That way, J.R. and Sally would collect twice-- they would sell Bobby's oil and they would also collect the insurance on the worthless tanker.

We are rooting for Bobby, of course. But it was hard not to have fun thinking of J.R. and Sally putting this scheme together!

W - it was an emotional reunion of the highest order when a resourceful Sue Ellen tracked down her long thought dead former lover, the wheelchair-bound Dusty Farlow

E - Leslie Stewart got Ewing Oil quite a bit of publicity, as well as incurring the wrath of Jock and the cartel, when she took out a full-page ad touting the company's alleged strong stance on environmentalism

(a quick-thinking JR deftly handled the swarming press, having been blindsided with the ad and its impact when he arrived at the office, perhaps a presaging of his 'man of the people' days during the contest with Bobby for Ewing Oil a couple of years later)
