I just recently finished watching the last season of Nashville. I didn't know about it when it was originally broadcast so I bought the DVDs. They only make DVDs for seasons 1-4 and then you have to buy the last two seasons, 5 and 6, on a streaming service.

I originally bought the first season of it because I had enjoyed Friday Night Lights and I liked Connie Britton's character of the coach's wife in that, so when I found out that she had starred in her own series after Friday Night Lights ended, I was intrigued and decided to buy the first season of Nashville. I thought it would be good but it was even better than I'd expected.

Nashville is unique because it's a TV series about the music industry, specifically about the country music industry in Nashville. I don't know of any other TV series that were about the music industry. There might be other shows that feature characters who are musicians, but the storylines don't get into the actual music business. It's a very timely subject for a series since the music business has been hit by a worse recession than any other major industry, thanks to the internet. Nashville depicts people struggling to survive in a business that's almost been put out of business. They're trying to figure out how to continue in an industry that worked on a business model that is no longer sustainable.

The first 4 seasons are the best. In the 5th season the series lost its focus. They lost sight of what had made the series a success - the storylines about the music business. When you take the business aspect out of a show about the music business, it loses its identity. There were still some good storylines in the last couple seasons but they were storylines that could have happened on any TV series. The elements that made the show stand apart from all the others was gone.
