I just lost it when he thanked his brother and, in his mind, happily rushed to his mother's eternal embrace. Partly because it was so incredibly beautiful and sad, partly because this great series has some to the end. A very satisfying finale, one of the best I've seen. Bates Motel will be one of my all-time gems that I'll gladly keep revisiting.

I felt somewhat letdown by the final season, but this ending truly lifted that cloud and I plan to watch it all again later this year. I will probably enjoy the final season much more, now that I have the full picture.

It's maybe too early to say one of the all time great finales of a TV series (these things are often better considered on reflection after the passage of time) but it was quite brilliant. Really beautifully crafted, clever, suspenseful, sad and moving. I didn't think the final season was going to be as good as it was without Norma but it didn't disappoint and the finale was first class.

I enjoyed the concept early on in the season of Dead Norma being 'trapped' in the house and having to lay low. LOVED it when she was teaching herself French to keep her mind active. I did get quite confused later on, though, when Norman was quizzing the barman about whether 'Norma' left the bar with a man, etc. And also with him being a regular visitor at the gay club.

I thought Rihanna was very enjoyable in her workplace scenes as Marion, and I got a real kick once I knew what Sam's fate was going to be.

Apparently the Bates house was torn down the day after they stopped filming. Freddie Highmore has said that it was quite a wrench to see it like that.
