Never seen it. Should I give it a gander?

It was good in the beginning, but once a major character was abruptly killed off (won’t spoil it for you), it lost “something.”

First 1 and 1/2 seasons are great - after that....

I recall the women in my family talking highly of it, and I remember when the box set came out a few years back, but I've never seen it personally.

This is one of those shows I've heard good things about, but for some reason I could never get past watching the pilot without my mind scattering.

it's my favorite series. Dana Delany was beyond brilliant in the leading role, although the whole cast was excellent. The writing is sincere, beautifully humane and empathetic, its very cinematic in look, and the show is often heartrendingly moving. Admittedly, season 3 sort of meanders, and 4 gets a little getting used to (what with Delany's character having a major attitude shift toward bitterness and alcoholism post-Vietnam) until you realize that it tried (in an abbreviated season) to show all the post-war Emotional fall-out and when you realize that, it becomes one of TV's finest ever hours. It's sensational, and I don't think any other show can really touch it.

Since CHINA BEACH is streaming on the Howdy app, my mom and stepdad have binged the entire show in like five days. My mom watched the show when it was new, and my stepdad, while never a fan, has gotten hooked watching it with her.
