Comfort and warmth between JR and Sue Ellen

Watching season 7 (8 DVD) and am struck by how pitifully JR is acting regarding Sue Ellen. After Jamie busts him cheating, Sue Ellen withdraws from him again. He is terrified of losing Ewing Oil to Jamie because of her document and begs Sue Ellen for comfort multiple times (she refuses).

He tells her in one scene that even through their bad times, they had always had comfort and warmth and understanding between them. That certainly isn't my recollection. Am I missing something? Were there actual times that we saw JR and SE supportive of each other when they were on the outs? Because my admittedly horrible memory can't think of a single instance.

Well I think Sue Ellen has offered JR support when they'd been on better terms. At first their marriage was just horrible all the time.
Then after JR was shot Sue Ellen was really there for JR. She comforted him and yes I do believe that JR & Sue Ellen understand each other's nature well. They are not the nicest people that's for sure. JR could be sweet to her when he tried to woo her back in the season after they had divorced and he went through all that trouble to dig up the Miss Texas tape, sent her flowers etc.
Even though being my age I no longer find it romantic as I did when I was younger as I think JR is acting very manipulative to get Sue Ellen back and his motifs are not simply because he miss her and love her. It's to get control over John Ross share of Ewing Oil.

Still after they had gotten remarried Sue Ellen was very supportive of JR and there seemed to be some warmth between them for a while. She was behind him in the fight for Ewing Oil.

Over all I think Sue Ellen has given JR a lot more than he ever gave her back. So from his perspective I can see why he think that she understands him and gives him comfort and warmth. Sadly all he seemed to give in return were material things. Not emotional support. He was right on one account though, the best thing that ever came out of their marriage was John Ross.

The very first episode of the series told me all that I needed to know about JR and Sue Ellen's marriage when Sue Ellen was telling Ellie that Jock was constantly asking her why she was not pregnant yet. The fact that it never occured to JR respectfully tell Jock to knock it off speaks volumes as to his feelings and lack of respect for his wife.

J.R. and Sue Ellen had a certain spark, chemistry and lust at times, but it was often loveless between them because J.R. was primarily motivated by Ewing Oil and the Ewing family image. Jock had a far better mix of family and business.

Sue Ellen was very rude to Pam at the start because of how in love and affectionate Pam and Bobby were. It was pure jealously.

And also fear that Pam would produce the first male Ewing grandchild.

Sue Ellen was just AWFUL to Pam. It amazes me how Pam was able to forgive her and form a friendship with her.

Swellin was always friendly with anyone who invited her to a Hong-Kong trip...
