Couldn’t they get Sarah Douglas back for Pamela’s final appearance?

Sarah Douglas was a beautiful woman. But instead, they have that new, ugly Pamela in her final episode in season 5. Pamela explains that she had plastic surgery and got a new face. I hope she sued her surgeon.

We never did see the new, ugly Pamela again.

I seem to recall reading at one point on this forum about Sara being let go because of some comments she made on a talk show regarding the actress that played Richard's step daughter...(Kate Vernon?) I'm not sure if that's 100% why she was let go, but it would make sense as to why a different actress played her in season 5.

She said, her contract came to an end and they were only prepared ask her to do a few more episodes, not a full season. After the Nazi treasure storyline was scrapped she didn't have much to do on the show. At about the same time, she had an offer to do a pilot for another series but the Falcon Crest producers were unwilling to release her so she couldn't do it. There were also issues in her personal life that she was dealing with. All things combined meant she didn't want to go back so they hired another actress to film her exit scenes the following season.
