Thank you for the feedback. :)

@stevew I'm not sure what you wanted to say as your comment somehow fell out of the message. :confuse:

@Justine you are right. John Ross and Pamela's realtionship is toxic. I'm not sure if Pam is the best person to give them advice but she does understand what it's like to be a Barnes and being married into the Ewing family. So maybe you are right. ;)

But first someone else really needs to talk to her...

*

The next morning at Southfork was Pamela Rebecca sitting out on the patio having her breakfast and flipping through the morning paper when John Ross joined her at the table.

“Good morning darling,” John Ross said, before he leant down to kiss his wife but she turned her cheek to him. “Aw come on darling, don’t be like that.”

“John Ross,” she said in a chilly voice, barely acknowledging him, as she kept looking down at the paper.

“You’re still mad?” He asked her. “I mean after last night I thought we were ok.”

“Last night was good,” she admitted, before she folded the paper together and pushed it away, “but it’s gonna take more than sex to fix what’s wrong between us.”

“And what’s that?”

“Well for starters there’s Elena,” Pamela reminded him. “I asked you yesterday and I’m asking you again, is there a chance that you could be the father of her baby?”

John Ross sighed, he had the lie on the tip of his tongue, since he knew she wouldn’t like hearing the truth. But then he changed his mind, since he realized that if he lied to her now and he did turn out to be the father of Elena’s baby it would only make things worse. So he told her the truth instead, “Yes.” Pamela grimaced when she heard that, “I’m sorry, I know it’s not what you wanted to hear, but it’s the truth.”

“The truth hurts,” Pamela sighed. “But I guess I can live with it.”

He gave her a surprised look, “Really?”

“Yeah you were willing to accept my babies with Christopher when the roles were reversed. So...” Pamela shrugged her shoulders, “Besides I love you and I want our marriage to work.”

“So do I,” John Ross said.

“Good and just so that we’re clear. If we’re gonna do us again, I will need a commitment,” Pamela said.

“What kind of commitment?”

“Like I don’t want you to see Emma anymore,” Pamela laid down the law. “I mean it John Ross, no other women at all.”

“Only if you keep up your end of the bargain.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?”

“It means that the commitment goes both ways. I don’t want any more surprises like when I found you in bed with Naser.”

“But that was for business John Ross!”

“So it didn’t mean anything is that it?”

“I swear to you that it didn’t.”

“It still hurt though,” John Ross said.

“Good then you know how it feels,” Pamela said. “I want you to remember that feeling any time a woman wants you to sleep with her to close a deal.”

“I see your point,” John Ross sighed heavily.

“And?”

“I want us to be exclusive,” John Ross told her.

“Ditto,” Pamela said, before she leant forward and gave John Ross a proper morning kiss.

Just at that moment a car drove up to Southfork and Christopher got out of it. Seeing Pamela Rebecca and John Ross kissing at the breakfast table he got an amused look on his face before he said, “I hope I’m not interrupting anything?”

That got their attention and John Ross and Pamela Rebecca looked up, “Good morning Chris,” Pamela acknowledged him.

“What do you want?” John Ross didn’t look as happy with their visitor. “Your dad’s not home, if you’ve come to see him.”

“Actually I’m not looking for my dad,” Christopher said and added after a beat. “But my mom, I believe you know where I can find her!” John Ross and Pamela Rebecca exchanged a look wondering what Christopher was up to, as they hadn’t expected Christopher to be this eager to see his mother. But knowing that they couldn’t withhold that information from him they told him what he wanted to know and then Christopher was out of their hair again.

I don’t think Pamela and John Ross are any more messed up than any other couple on Dallas. I like they’re finally talking, laying it on the table. Pamela can hardly be angry with John Ross for Emma when she was clear their marriage was for business and wouldn’t even go on a date with him prior. But now that they’re being honest, she can expect more. Now there’s no misunderstanding what she expects and unlike Elena, I believe he can count on Pamela to stand by him through anything as long as he honors their marriage.

What business deal did she make with Nasser? His county’s oil was a piece of JRs master piece which fell through - or so I thought. But if they did get the oil leases, it certainly would be a game changer. With Ryland pricing shipping and his SF oil to provide the collateral, he could be a company on those leases alone. But I’d love to see Nasser get his comeuppance - JR style. And Emma too for that matter (though I kinda liked Emma) from Pamela.

I’d also like to add to that the Bobby I knew would offer John Ross the house in order to raise a family with Pamela and would move into the cottage. I don’t think he’d fight for that big house for him and Ann.

And Elena needs to answer for her crimes, dealing with drug dealers and black mailing Bobby. She brought these people into their lives and so Drew died, Emma was raped, Ann was kidnapped. Judith and John Ross cleaned up her mess (I’d even guess they might have had something to do with Trevinos death). I wonder what John Ross did with that CIA team capable of killing off the leadership of a powerful drug cartel - maybe a bit Eric Prince?

Anyway great story. Not easy to put those two together but I do think together they’ll be a lot more fun than apart?

Will we be seeing Lucas, Cally’s child, or any others?

Thank you for the feedback @stevew I enjoy reading your comments. :)

First off, I agree with you that JR's masterpiece wasn't satisfying at all. I didn't like how it put Cliff in jail and nothing else.:(
I think they had written themselves into a corner since JR was supposed to have gotten things back by the end of season two. But Larry died unexpectedly before they could finish filming the season so it left CC and her team in a bad situation where they had to make a hen out of a feather.

Yes John Ross and Pamela Rebecca are both very wealthy in their own right. So wealthy that they could easily buy a new house and decorate it any way they want. They don't have to live at Southfork. But they do. See it's not about money. It's about feeling entitled. They think they are entitled to Southfork and Ewing Global because that's what they have been promised since childhood.

As for what is and what isn't green energy. I think solar power is green energy.
But I don't believe that having bikes and cars run on lithium batteries is a sustainable solution at all. Firstly it exploits the land where the resources are. In this case the salt lake in Bolivia. I have visited that place and it is amazing. It breaks my heart to think that it could all be exploited. :eyes:
Moreover batteries can be charged with dirty energy from nuclear power plants. That doesn't make it green energy. Batteries also creates waste that we don't quite know how to get rid off. So yes cars that are run on batteries might give less air pollution. But it's not really green energy either when all things are factored in. This is just IMHO of course.

Yes John Ross and Pamela really needed to communicate to be able to solve their marital problems. So yes it's good that it's all out on the table. Now they can move forward together.
I agree with you that they are definitely much better together than they are apart. :l9:

I have no clue what deal Pamela and John Ross actually made with Nasser.:confuse:
I really enjoyed the actor who played him when he was on Bones. But Nasser is not a character that will appear in my Dallas story. Pamela's indifelity with him is only referred to in it. But that's all.

No I don't think Bobby would move out of Southfork anymore than JR would have. Southfork is his home and he's not leaving it. He is sharing it with John Ross because that is what his mother stipulated in the codec to her will. But he won't move out of his home. Also Christopher and Elena are living in the cottage of Southfork.

I don't think Elena can be held responsible for bringing the cartel into the Ewing's lives considering that Harris Ryland was working undercover and got mixed up with them first. In my opinion Elena was a victim in all this. She only got mixed up with the cartel because she fell in love with Joaquin/Nicolas. Then when she realized how much he'd changed it was already too late.

Who is Eric Prince?
I don't understand that reference.

Anyway since several months has passed by since Elena and Nicolas broke up and the cartel attempted to kill Christopher, Elena and Christopher has already dealt with her involvement with Nicolas and Christopher has forgiven her for it. So the only thing that is threatening their relationship right now is the paternity of the baby. That has not been resolved yet.

Cally's child won't be a part of this story. I think it was a mistake not to introduce him at JR's funeral in season two.

Lucas on the other hand was supposed to have been introduced in season four so yes he will be a part of this story! :)

Anyway on to the next part and it's time for Christopher to finally get some answers from his mother...

Pam walked into the living room where she found the old photo albums that Afton had left on the coffee table last night. She picked up an album and sat down in the sofa before she started flicking through the pages. The album were full of old family photos from the time when Cliff and Afton had been married and Pamela Rebecca had been growing up. The first album started with the wedding. Cliff and Afton had looked so happy and in love in those photos and eight year old Pamela Rebecca was absolutely adorable in her pink bride’s maid’s dress. Pam smiled at the picture perfect family that was looking back at her. She was glad that Cliff had learnt his lesson at last and become a family man. She had never seen her brother look that happy or content before. But sadly it was a chapter of his life that she knew nothing about as she hadn’t been a part of it. Sure she knew Afton since before but it still pained her that she’d missed out on this time in her brother’s life when she should have been a part of it.

Looking at a photo of Cliff’s face, Pam gently traced the lines of it and sobbed, “Oh Cliff why did you have to die?”

The tears ran down Pam’s cheeks when she thought of all the time she’d missed with her brother. She kept looking through the photos in the album until she reached the end. Then she picked up another album and on the first page in it she found a photo of a baby boy. Then on the next page there was a family photo of Cliff, Afton and Pamela Rebecca together with the same boy. Cliff had a son? Pam frowned as she wondered why Cliff or Afton never had mentioned their son to her. Now her curiosity was piqued, but before she had had the chance to turn the page and look through the rest of the baby album, the sound of the doorbell interrupted her.

The sound startled her and made her drop the album. She didn’t know why but she felt like she was poking around in something that she shouldn’t be looking at. For a moment she wondered if that could be Afton now and if she was about to be found out. But then she dismissed the idea since Afton had a key and wouldn’t be ringing on the doorbell. I wonder who it is? Pam bit her lip nervously, as she waited for her maid to get the door for her. It was only on the second ring that she realized that she was in Cliff’s old house and she didn’t have a maid working for her here, so if she wanted to find out who was at the door she had to get it herself. Pam then hurried over to get the door. Once she’d opened it her face paled, as she hadn’t expected it to be her son. “Christopher?”

“Hi mom,” he replied, “can we talk?”

“Sure,” Pam stepped aside, letting Christopher into the house. “So can I get you anything? Coffee? Tea? Or maybe a drink?”

“Coffee will be fine,” Christopher replied.

“Okay,” Pam said. “I’ll go make some, why don’t you go wait in the living room, you do know where that is, don’t you?”

“Yeah," Christopher nodded. "It’s been years since I last visited uncle Cliff here and it feels sort of funny to be back now, but yeah I can find i."

“Good,” Pam said, “This will only take a minute,” Pam said before she disappeared into the kitchen and Christopher made his way into the living room where he found the photo albums that Pam has been looking through just a moment ago. He sighed heavily before he picked up the one on the floor. Seeing the photo of his baby cousin made his heart ache as it reminded him of the babies that Pamela Rebecca and he had lost. He then closed the album and put it back on the table. He could have looked through it to make the time pass quicker but he wasn’t up to looking at old photos from his former wife’s childhood. Some might think that it was strange that he had married his own cousin without even recognizing her. But he and Pamela Rebecca had never been close growing up so he had only seen her sporadically and due to their age difference they hadn’t really played much together either. Christopher was so lost in his thoughts of his former wife that he barely noticed when his mother returned with the coffee. “Okay so here’s the coffee,” Pam said as she put down the trey on the table and sat down next to Christopher on the sofa.

Christopher looked at the chocolate chip cookies that his mother had brought with the coffee and raised an eyebrow since he hadn’t expected her to remember that those were his favorite kind. “You brought cookies?”

“Yeah, I hope you still likes chocolate chip,” Pam said. “When you were little you couldn’t get enough of them.”

“I do but...”

“Here let me pour you some coffee,” Pam said and as she picked up the coffee pot he couldn’t help but notice that her hands were shaking.

“It’s okay, I can do it,” Christopher hurried to take the pot from her before she spilled the coffee. He then poured them a cup of coffee each and it got uncomfortably silent for a moment before Pam said.

“I’m surprised that you’re here...”

“Pamela told me where I could find you,” he explained.

“That’s not what I meant,” Pam said, as she looked down.

“Oh?”

“Yesterday at the funeral you called me a bitch. So I kind of got the impression that you wanted nothing to do with me.”

“I’m sorry,” Christopher apologized. “I was just so shocked to see you. Do you have any idea of how many times I’ve been imagining that moment?”

“So you wanted me to come back then?”

“Yes, at first I wished for nothing more,” Christopher admitted. “Then when I grew older I got used to that you were gone. But it still hurt when I found out that you were dead.”

“Cliff told you I was dead?”

“No it was some woman in Zürich, she and her husband had been withdrawing money from your bank account so I went there last year to...”

“You mean to tell me that some woman has been embezzling my money?”

“Well yeah, they told me Cliff had paid them to keep your death a secret so he could control your shares of Barnes Global,” Christopher informed her. “The woman gave me a letter you had written to me a few days before you died from pancreatic cancer.”

“A letter?” Pam sighed. “I guess then they must have been in on it with Katherine somehow.”

“In on what?” Christopher looked questioningly at his mother. “What does your sister have to do with anything?”

“She kidnapped me from the hospital,” Pam revealed. “I never wanted to leave you or your father or Cliff.”

“For real?” Christopher gave his mother a cynical look, as he already doubted the truth in her story.

“Yeah, I know it sounds crazy but that’s what really happened.”

“But how could Katherine kidnap you right under dad’s nose?” Christopher asked. “Why didn’t he try and find you?”

“Because Katherine wrote him a letter telling him not to look for me if he loved me,” Pam revealed.

“And he listened to her?”

“No he thought that I had written the letter,” Pam sighed. “Katherine knew me quite well so she could forge something and make it sound like I had written it.”

Christopher looked astonished at his mother, “So dad divorced you over some stupid letter?”

“Yes and if you ask him he’ll tell you that it’s not the first time that has happened either since Katherine also read him a letter she had written and said it was mine the first time we got divorced.”

“But that’s unbelievable,” Christopher snorted. “If you’ve been through all that before shouldn’t dad have gotten suspicious when he got yet another letter?”

“You would think that, but apparently not, since he gave up on me,” Pam sighed. “The first year I was just waiting for Bobby or Cliff to find me. But when Cliff finally did Katherine hired an actress to impersonate me. So Cliff met an imposter and couldn’t even tell a difference. I don’t think your dad would have been conned by that. But since he didn’t come with Cliff to see me, Katherine could get away with it.”

“You’re unbelievable, you’re actually trying to get me to blame my father for your disappearance?”

“No,” Pam shook her head. “I don’t want you to blame Bobby. I am sure he was hurt by my disappearance and that’s what Katherine was counting on. She had always wanted to break us up and unfortunately my accident made me vulnerable and that’s when she made her move. She never would have succeeded if I hadn’t been in that car crash.”

“You think she staged it?”

“No,” Pam shook her head. “I was talking on the phone when I was driving, otherwise I would have seen the truck pull out in front of me. So I was just as much to blame for what happened.”

“Okay,” Christopher nodded. “Still there’s something I don’t get. If Katherine really kidnapped you, then why didn’t you come back to us after she died?”

“Because I lost my memory in the accident,” Pam sighed heavily. “I’ve had amnesia for the past 25 years.”

“You’ve got to be kidding me,” Christopher said smugly, as he stood up and held out his hands. “Out of all the lame excuses you could have come up with, that’s the best you could do?”

“I’m sorry but it’s true,” Pam said. “I mean you can ask Josephine if you don’t believe me. Hell you can even ask John Ross as he was the one who brought me out of it.”

“John Ross did?”

“Yeah, when he came to see me last fall it was like someone had opened a flood gate to my old life and all the memories came flooding back to me. I guess it was the shock of hearing that Josephine wasn’t my daughter that did it. To hear that I had in fact been raising JR and Katherine’s daughter as my own for all these years was just such a shock to me.”

Christopher sighed heavily, since somehow he could believe that would be upsetting to find out, so he sat back down again, “Alright I am listening.”

“Good so what do you want to know?”

“Well you can start with telling me about the accident that killed Katherine,” Christopher said.

“Alright,” Pam nodded. “It was in the fall of 1990. We were living in Abi Dhabi when Katherine insisted we’d go sailing out to an island in the Persian gulf. It was a clear blue sky when we left but before we reached the island a storm hit us and Katherine was washed overboard. I had just thrown her a life raft and was about to pull her in when the mast of the sailboat hit me in the head. I was knocked unconscious and when I woke up 26 hours later at a hospital I had no memory of who I was or what had happened. They told me that I had had a sailing accident and that my daughter and I were lucky to be alive.”

“Your daughter?”

“Yes apparently Josephine had told them that I was her mommy,” Pam said.

“But why would she do that?” Christopher asked. “I mean if she was 5 she should have known who her real mother was.”

“I think she knew but she was scared that they would take her away from me if she’d told them the truth. So she lied and said that I was her mom instead of the dead woman.”

“So Katherine drowned?”

“Yeah they never found her body. But she must have,” Pam said. “So I’ve been raising Josephine as my own ever since and with time she’s forgotten I wasn’t her real mom.”

“Really?”

“Yeah I came into her life when she was 2 so I’ve been there for her as long as she can remember so when John Ross found us last year it was a shock for her too,” Pam said.

“I see,” Christopher nodded. “So you’ve lived in Abi Dhabi all these years?”

“Yeah,” Pam nodded. “After the accident I assumed the identity of Pamela Bellini. Josephine remembered that my first name was Pam. But she couldn’t remember a surname. So I made one up. I then got us an apartment and to pay for that I got a job working in a foreign department store. Then one day I met a man who asked me out for dinner. His name was Leone Greco and he was an Italian working abroad. We were married within a year and I quit the job at the department store. We tried to have kids but we couldn’t. But he adopted Josephine so she became our daughter. We had a good marriage and were happy together until five years ago when he was diagnosed with cancer. We tried everything we could to fight it. But it had spread too much. So he died within a year. He was only 55.”

Seeing the tears run down his mother’s cheeks Christopher felt bad for her, so he took her hand saying, “I’m sorry for your loss. Cancer sucks.”

“Thank you,” Pam said, looking up at him with a small smile on her lips. But his next words wiped the smile right off her face.

“Dad had it too, you know?”

“What?” Pam looked at Christopher with worry in her eyes. “Is he...?”

“No,” Christopher hurried to reassure her. “He had a surgery about three years ago. They got it all so he’s healthy now.”

“Good,” Pam said, looking relieved.

“And you still care about him,” Christopher realized.

“Of course,” Pam said a bit too quickly before she went on elaborating. “He was my husband for 8 years and he is your father. As far as I can see he’s done a good job raising you.”

“Yeah,” Christopher agreed.

“I wish I could have helped more,” Pam said as the tears spilled over in her eyes. “I’m sorry for abandoning you when you were a little boy. I never wanted to leave you.”

“I know,” Christopher nodded, as he squeezed his mother’s hands. “But you’re here now.”

“I am and I’d like for us to start over,” Pam said. “I know it’s late. You’re an adult now and we can never get those years back. So I don’t blame you if you resent me for leaving...”

Watching his mother struggle to find the right words Christopher had to fight the lump in his throat as the tears welled up in his eyes as well, “If what you’re telling me is true then none of this was your fault...”

“You don’t believe me?”

“I want to,” Christopher said in a small voice, “But it’s hard. I was really hurt when you left me. I thought it was because I was adopted...”

“Oh Christopher I hope you know that’s not true,” Pam said. “I mean I couldn’t have loved you any more if you had been my own flesh and blood.”

“Really?”

“Really,” Pam said. “You and Josephine are my children even though I haven’t given birth to either one of you.”

“I see,” Christopher nodded. “Still you raised Josephine, you abandoned me when I was 6 years old...”

“I’ve explained all that. So I was hoping you’d forgive me.”

“It’s not so easy to forgive something like that,” Christopher sighed. “I mean do you know what it’s like to grow up without a mother?”

“I do,” Pam sobbed.

Christopher made a face as he remembered that she actually did know what that was like, “Right Rebecca left you too...”

“Yeah when I was even younger than you were,” Pam said.

“So you do know...”

“Yeah, God knows I didn’t understand why my mom abandoned me and Cliff but I forgave her and I am glad that I did. So I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me too...”

“I guess I have to,” Christopher said, with the tears running down his cheeks. “For so many years I’ve missed you and prayed for you to come back. So now when you’re here it would be stupid to hold on to my anger. So yes I’ll forgive you mom since I want us to start over too,” Christopher sobbed as he let his mother put her arms around him and pull him into a comforting hug. For so many years he’d longed to have his mother back and now he finally did. It was like a wound in him that had been open for so long had finally closed. He had his mother back in his life at long last and he was not going to let her leave again.

I’m not an expert on green energy but I do know that cars are headed in direction of batteries. And as you mention the production of that electricity will be far from green and I’m sure it will including natural gas plants for some time, but my point was more to the inference they made that they would be able to get at so much natural gas it would seem like an unlimited supply, and yes it does burn cleaner than petroleum products, but the bigger picture is the Ewing’s disruption of global gas markets - sending the price down to the point enemies would be coming from every direction. That part I think is assured if they continue it.

Eric Prince created the mercenary company Blackwater which was renamed:

He had his mother back in his life at long last and he was not going to let her leave again.

To Be Continued...

I can see how it would be difficult for Chris to believe such a wild tale, but knowing Katherine I can believe it. So to Pam both children are hers. So Josephine in a way is both Christopher and John Ross’s sister. Interesting.

To Be Continued...

I can see how it would be difficult for Chris to believe such a wild tale, but knowing Katherine I can believe it. So to Pam both children are hers. So Josephine in a way is both Christopher and John Ross’s sister. Interesting.

@superman fan I'm glad that you've started reading this story too now and that you like it. :)

@stevew you make a good point about the oil market. I think right now we're in a situation where they have overproduced oil so the prize of oil/barrell has dropped to a record low price. As a result the gas price has gone down. I think the countries that produces the most oil has come to an agreement now so I am sure the price will go up again. But I could see why other people in the business would be angry with the ones who makes the prices drop. So you make an interesting plot point.

Thanks for explaining who Eric Prince is. Also wikipedia has changed their design!

I'm glad that you like the twist with that Josephine is both John Ross and Christopher's sister in a sense. I think it was one of your stories that made the sister the child of Kristin, also tying the two cousins together with a sibling in common. Only difference is that then it was by blood.

Anyway time for a new update and this time it's a business focused one.

Chapter five

Judith Ryland was used to playing hard ball. She had learnt early in life when Harris no good father had committed suicide when she was pregnant that you could never trust men. So she always tried to have some leverage on her business partners because she knew that the only way she could beat them at their own game was by one up them. She was a gambler who liked it when the odds where in her favor. She was a manipulating, sassy, controlling bitch who didn’t care who she had to step on to get what she wanted. She was not afraid of drug dealers or politicians since she had a way of dealing with them all. She knew that she could act just as tough as they were. She did what needed to be done to stay ahead. She could snort some coke or sell sex to desperate men who couldn’t get their kicks elsewhere. She knew that blackmail and drugs were useful tools to control people she needed in her pocket. Once she had some dirt on them they’d be eating out of her hand.

But there was one person she was having an increasingly hard time to control and that was her son Harris, who was fed up with being a mama’s boy and had started to rebel against her at long last. She also was having some trouble with her granddaughter Emma since she had reconnected with her worthless mother. Judith had not been happy when Ann had resurfaced in her life since she had never liked the girl. For the life of her she had never understood what her son had seen in her. Yet Harris had been smitten with Ann and Judith didn’t like sharing her son’s attention with anyone so she had done her best to ruin his marriage. She had also kept Ann from raising her own daughter. But in the years since Harris and Ann’s divorce Ann had changed. She had grown stronger and now she no longer feared Judith. So she had formed a relationship with her daughter, who to Judith’s dismay seemed to prefer her mother’s company to Judith’s. Unfortunately for Judith it was not as easy to scare Ann off as it used to be, since the girl hadn’t only grown a backbone, she had also aligned herself with a family that was even more powerful than the Rylands. Everyone in Texas knew of the Ewing’s reputation. They were not a family that you wanted to mess with and yet Judith enjoyed doing just that, as she still liked to do what she could to ruin Ann’s life and if she couldn’t go after the girl herself, she was not above targeting her husband.

“Well, well, well, look what the cat’s dragged into my office,” Judith said in her drawling voice, as she looked at Bobby and Sue Ellen. “So to what do I owe the honor?”

“Quit the bull Judith, you know damn well why we are here,” Bobby said in a harsh tone of voice.

“Do I?”

“Yes we are here to talk business,” Bobby said. “After all you are the new rail road commissioner and...”

“Right and I am sure you can understand that means I am very busy. See some people takes our jobs very seriously. So I really don’t have the time for you or...”

“We have an appointment,” Sue Ellen interrupted Judith.

“Do you now?” Judith said as she looked something up in her computer and seeing that they were right she sighed, “So you do. Then why don’t you have a seat and make yourself comfortable. Can I get you something. How about a drink Sue Ellen?” Judith asked before adding tauntingly. “I’ve heard you have a fondness for vodka or maybe some JR bourbon is more to your taste?”

Sue Ellen’s bottom lip quivered ever so slightly before her face hardened and she looked at Judith in disgust, “No I’ve stopped drinking.”

“Well bravo,” Judith clapped her hands together. “What do you want, a medal?”

“If you’re done taunting Sue Ellen, can we please get down to business?” Bobby nipped the conversation in its bud.

“Of course, I think we all know what you want,” Judith said.

“Yes we want free passage for our Ewing tankers in and out of Texas so we can transport the oil from the Arctic sea...”

“Spare me the details, I already know all that,” Judith interrupted Bobby. “Now aren’t you going to ask me what my price is to comply with your request?”

Sue Ellen and Bobby exchanged a look wondering if Judith really was going to cooperate with them. Sue Ellen then gave Judith a skeptic look. “So you’re willing to give us what we want?”

“Not you, your son,” Judith replied.

“I don’t understand,” Sue Ellen frowned.

“It’s all very simple, let John Ross back into the company and I will give him the permission to transport your oil from the Arctic sea into Texas,” Judith spelled it out to them.

Bobby’s eyes narrowed when he heard that, “What does my nephew have on you?”

“Why do you think he has anything?”

“Because I know my nephew and...”

“So do I, he’s a courageous young man who saved my granddaughters life after you failed,” Judith reminded Bobby. “It’s because of what he did for Emma that I want to deal with John Ross.”

“And you expect us to believe that?” Bobby asked skeptically.

“Believe what you want, but understand this. If you want me to grant Ewing Global those permits you’d better bring John Ross back into the company. Since I’ll deal with him and him alone.”

“And if we won’t?” Sue Ellen asked.

“Then no deal,” Judith said with a satisfied smirk that made Sue Ellen and Bobby groan. They had expected Judith to be a tough opponent to deal with. But they hadn’t expected her to be completely impossible. But she was. So now they had to find a way to get some dirt on her to make her see things their way since there was no way they were letting John Ross back into the company right now.

Great updates Karin!:) I am so happy that Christopher forgave his mom for abandoning him and his father so quickly even though Pam's explanation for leaving them sounds very convoluted and like something that would be featured on a daytime soap opera in America. LOL :);) Please update your story again soon because I can't wait to find out if Bobby is going to forgive Pam as quickly as Christopher did after she told him her convoluted story about why she abandoned him and his father. :)

I love it. This is so true. Business is all contacts and the contact between Judith and John Ross is classic. She can trust him and he can trust her. She has a political position, which I could see only grow from there. And he has a team of CIA agents capable of digging up more dirt anyone, not to mention killing off top crime bosses. So what about Ryland Transport (or what ever they called the business)? I remember they had oil tankers too. Plus Emma can’t keep running the business. And how could she put Harris in charge after drugging her and locking her up in a hospital? He’s proven he can’t be trusted. She’s just the kind of mentor John Ross needs. Now if old Carlos is really JR’s friend, Bobby and Sue Ellen might be fighting Ole JR from the grave. Lol. I love it.

My biggest question right now is how does Josephine help John Ross? Bum said John Ross was again relying on someone else to help him out, with his sister, so how does she help him.

Oh and did John Ross get Nasser’s oil that JR set up? If John Ross has Ryland Transport, Nasser’s oil and CIA militia group, plus friends like Judith and Carlos and 1/2 of SF and 1/6 of SF oil, I’d say JR did pretty good by his boy after all, left him the skills to compete.

I've caught up on the story now :)

I actually care a little more about Elena now that she could be having Christopher or John Ross' baby. I think it will end up being John Ross' baby because that complicates things the most with Nicholas being dead and Christopher wanting the baby to be his own. I'm glad we don't seem to be getting a Carmen heavy story to go with Elena's plot.

John Ross and Pamela Rebecca need to see a marriage counsellor, they have too many issues to be trying to have a baby of their own now (or even just be shelving their feelings and saying they've moved on).

I think Ann and Pamela (Barnes Ewing) should have a sit down scene. Something like Cally and Sue Ellen on the original show, the two wives who should dislike each other talking out their differences and finding some way to cope with the other's presence.

Speaking of Pam, I really thought we were talking about Cally when she was first introduced lol. JR's child and all. I think it's interesting and quite plausible that Pam was kidnapped because she did disappear so mysteriously and Katherine was at the hospital. I was going to say she should have come back after Katherine died but then the amnesia thing happened, so scratch that.

Am I the only one that thinks Katherine might not actually be dead? Hmm

One correction, the city is called Abu Dhabi not Abi Dhabi :)

Emma Ryland had a chilly aristocratic air about her that came from knowing that she was superior than others. She had attended the best boarding schools in Europe and she had excelled in riding horses and jumping. There had been a time when she had been aiming at competing in the Olympics. She had had a good shot of making it too, as she had all the right qualities that it took to be a winner. She was rational, detached, stubborn, spoiled and calculating. Growing up without a mother had shaped her that way, as she had been raised to be daddy and grandma’s little princess. She knew that one look into her innocent blue eyes could give her what she wanted. If she just whined loud enough they would bend to her every whim to shut her up. Yes her grandma was not above giving her the special type of candy she had craved to get through her difficult teenage years.

Unfortunately for Emma she had gotten addicted to the pills that were supposed to keep her calm and obedient. So she had two major weaknesses, drugs and sex. Emma knew she could have whoever she wanted and she didn’t care if the man she desired was married. She knew that most men were dumb and weak and would do anything you asked of them as long as you gave them a little piece of you. She had had a liberated view of sex, it was no big deal, it was meant to be enjoyed and she was used to getting her kicks from whoever was willing to provide them. Of course she was also used to being in control over who she slept with. Up until recently she had taken the right to her own body for granted. She had had the power to chose whom she slept with. But then that right had been taken away from her and it had shaken her to the very core of her being.

She had been raped by Luis and it had changed her and her view of sex. She had used to enjoy sex. She had been promiscuous. But that Mexican bastard had taken all the pleasure out of sex away from her. He had turned it into something painful and he had treated her no better than one of her grandmother’s whores. He had made her feel dirty and ashamed. But worst of all was that a part of her couldn’t help but wondering if it was something she had done that had lead to it. Maybe if she hadn’t flirted with Fernando he wouldn’t have punished her. So it had made her question the way she had been living and made her feel like she had deserved it. It had changed her wanton personality and made her withdrawn. It had made her feel rigid, weak and numb. It didn’t even help that the bastard who had forced himself upon her was dead since he was still haunting her in her nightmares. He had broken her self-esteem and she had nobody she could talk to. Nobody that understood her or what she was going through. She was all alone.

But she didn’t have to be as there were people who loved her and who were trying to get through to her. Who were trying to break through the walls she had built up around herself to protect herself from ever getting hurt again. Her parents loved her. Her grandmother too. But she could not talk to her grandma or her father about this, it was too embarrassing. It was different with Ann though. Her mother had not raised her and that made her easier to confide in. But not about this. It was her dirty little secret that she couldn’t share with anyone or even speak aloud about. No matter of how much her mother wanted to help her, she just couldn’t let her in. So she remained distant from her.

“Emma please, what can I do to help you?” Her mother sat down next to her on the bed in her bedroom, as she was once again trying to get through to her.

She could see the anguish in her mother’s eyes, but she couldn’t burden her with this. So she just said in a sad tone of voice, “There’s nothing you or anyone else could do to help me.”

“But there must be something,” Ann didn’t give up that easily. “I am your mother and I can tell you have been feeling bad since you got home from Mexico.”

“So?”

“Well I thought that maybe we could talk about it,” Ann offered. “I mean I was kidnapped too so I know how traumatic it was thinking that those men would kill us.”

“You know nothing,” Emma said angrily.

“So you weren’t afraid of dying?” Ann asked. “Because I know was. I mean those men were capable of most anything...”

“I know,” Emma said. “After you were gone, I found that out the hard way.”

“What do you mean?”

“Forget that I said anything," Emma tried to wave it away. But her mother was like a shark that smelled blood. She knew that she was on to something here and she wasn't just going to let it go.

“No I can’t forget. Are you saying that something happened to you in Mexico?” Ann asked in a worried tone of voice. “Did those men hurt you after I was gone?” Ann asked and all Emma could do was nod.

“Yes,” Emma finally admitted and seeing her reaction made Ann even more worried.

“Who hurt you?” Ann asked, “Please Emma you can tell me, I want that bastard to pay for what he did to my little girl.”

“You’re too late he’s already dead!”

“Well good so who was it?” Ann asked. “Was it that young guy I saw you talking to?”

“It was Luis, okay?” Emma yelled angrily. “He raped me!” Once the words were finally over her lips she felt liberated for having spoken up. It wasn’t just her dirty little secret anymore. She had shared it with someone. But saying it out loud was also difficult since it brought it all back and made it feel more real somehow. It brought the tears out too and before she knew it she was sobbing real bad.

“Oh Emma, I’m so sorry,” Ann said as she pulled her crying daughter into her arms to comfort her. “I never should have left you there.”

“It wasn’t your fault.”

“No but I still feel responsible,” Ann said. “You are my daughter and I failed to protect you...”

“There’s nothing you could have done,” Emma said as she broke free from her mother’s arms, “Please don’t try to make this about you. Since it isn’t, okay?”

“No but knowing that that creep hurt you makes me so angry. So did you at least fight back?”

“Mom please, I don’t wanna talk about it anymore!"

“Okay, I’m sorry for asking, it’s just that I feel like shooting his balls off.”

“I know but you can’t,” Emma said before adding. “But there is one thing you can do for me however.”

“What’s that?” Ann asked. “You know I’d do anything.”

“Good,” Emma said. “I don’t want you to tell Bobby about this!”

“But he’s my husband,” Ann objected.

“I know but it’s embarrassing enough as it is,” Emma said. “I don’t want Bobby to pity me too or tell Christopher or John Ross about what happened. The fewer people who knows about this the better. So I want you to promise me not to tell him, ok?”

“Alright, I promise,” Ann sighed.

“Thanks mom,” Emma said before she gave her another hug. She did find some comfort in her mother’s arms and it did feel a little better that she’d unburdened herself to someone. Ann on the other hand felt worse than before. She was so upset that she felt like she needed to talk to someone about this. But since Emma had forbidden her from confiding in Bobby it didn’t leave her with that many options. In fact there was only one other person she could possibly confide in about this even though she didn’t know if she should since it would only hurt him to know.

I thought John Ross knew Emma was raped and it was his CIA contacts that killed those people. I got the impression from his interaction with Judith, she knew as well, and his courage to save her granddaughter and just get rid of those people, endeared him to her. I could be wrong as TNT always seemed a little vague.

I would think Ann could rely on Sue Ellen to talk to her. I got the idea you meant she’d talk to Ryland, but she’d have to know Emma included him in people not to tell.

I ways had this idea if I were to keep the Emma character that John Ross would ask Pamela to help Emma, woman to woman. I think Pamela would be a very sympathetic shoulder. It might also go a long ways in helping Pamela see that there was nothing emotional between Emma and John Ross, and that John Ross actually thought Pamela had only married him for business. Anyway just the ramblings in my head.

Touching scene. Thank you.

Also wondering, who is running Ryland’s business? It was Emma and obvious Judith had control, even over Harris. I cannot see her handing it back to her son. I could see her handing it to John Ross, impressed by his handling of the drug cartel, while she holds political office.

Hi Everyone!

I'm sorry about the lack of update yesterday. But the board was down when I tried to post.

Anyway it seems to be working now so I figured I'd thank you all properly for your feedback! :dance1:

@Pammy P I understand why you're looking forward to Bobby & Pam's next meeting. It will take a bit longer until we get there though... :D

@Mrs Bobby James Ewing I know Pam's kidnapping and amnesia does sound a bit like a daytime soap opera plot. But considering all the time that has passed by I couldn't come up with anything better since I needed something that would redeem her character and the only way that could be done was if she didn't leave voluntarily. Considering that Katherine did show up right before she left it's not a far stretch that Katherine would have kidnapped her. The plantations for it was certainly there on the show. However I couldn't have kept her kidnapped for 25 years since that would have been ridiculous. So hence the amnesia plot! :innocent:
Also considering that Chris looked for his mom on the show it's not such a far stretch that he would forgive her. Then as for Bobby's reaction. I can let you in on a little secret, he's not gonna hear about it from Pam... ;)

@Miss Texas 1967 I'm pleased that you've caught up on my story now. Considering that you've recently rewatched Dallas TNT it will hopefully make a lot of sense to you. :)
I'm glad that you like Elena more in this story than on the actual show. Carmen is in this story but she's a minor character that only shows up for the big family moments. Like the birth of Elena's baby. So it's not a Carmen heavy story at all!

I think you are right about Pamela Rebecca and John Ross it wouldn't hurt for them to see a marriage counsellor, as they still have some issues to be working through.

A scene with Ann & Pam. That's an interesting idea for sure. :D

I am glad that you think it's plausible that Katherine kidnapped Pam. :)

@stevew I'm glad you loved the business scene. You are right that it's all about contacts. One thing you said made me confused though. John Ross has a team of CIA agents working for him? Where did you get that from?
I can't remember anything on Dallas TNT that indicated that he did. :confuse:
Harris and Judith are still in control over Ryland Transportation in this story. Harris is running the day to day operations, with Judith being involved occasionally.

I don't know if John Ross got Nasser's oil deal. I think Pamela slept with him to get that deal. But since Pamela and John Ross didn't get control over Barnes Global after that I am not sure what happened to that deal. I agree with you that Dallas TNT could be a bit vague on the details.

Then as for the end of the show. I thought it was Nicolas Trevino that made sure that the people from the cartel was killed at the end in prison and not CIA contacts.

Judith definitely knew that Emma was raped. I think she might have said something to John Ross about it so he went over to cheer Emma up. But I don't think John Ross and Emma discussed what happened to her so Emma doesn't know that Judith and John Ross know.

Good idea about Ann talking to Sue Ellen about Emma's problems. That wouldn't be the first time. :)
But yes I meant that she'd talk to Harris, he is after all Emma's father.

I can't see why Pamela would be interested in helping Emma after she tried to ruin her marriage and almost pushed Pamela to the brink of suicide! :yikey:
It's an interesting idea nevertheless.

I'm glad you thought the Emma & Ann scene was touching.

Then as for how Josephine will help John Ross, the next scene will shed a bit more light on that.

*

Josephine Rebecca Greco had always wanted a sibling. So when John Ross Ewing had come into her life she felt like her prayers had been answered. She now had an older brother, who was still close enough to her in age to be on the same page as she was. Both having grown up as an only child with wealthy parents, who had spoiled them rotten, they were used to getting what they wanted. John Ross had a conniving streak though that made Josephine question his intentions towards her. Is he genuinely interested in being my brother or does he mainly see me as a mean to an end? Josephine was no dummy. She was bright, beautiful, brass and brilliant. With her porcelain white skin and dark brown curly hair and piercing blue eyes she looked like an exotic bird and she had already had several marriage proposals from the men back home. But just like a bird she was hard to catch so she’d turned them all down. Josephine didn’t want an arranged marriage, she wanted to marry for love. Besides she was only 30 years old so she wasn’t exactly in a rush to settle down. After all her parents hadn’t found each other until they were older than she was now so there was still plenty of time for her to find a man to share her life with. She hoped to find a real charmer and gentleman like her father had been. He had treated her mother so good. Sadly he had died way too young and left a void in her life.

Josephine raised an eyebrow when she saw John Ross walk into the oil baron’s club in the company of his wife. “John Ross?”

“Sorry we’re late but traffic is a bitch this time a day,” John Ross said he walked up to Josephine and gave her a kiss on the cheek.

But Josephine was not interested in small talk and instead cut straight to the chase, “I’m surprised to see you brought your wife. I didn’t think she was interested in our business endeavor.”

“I’m not but I was curious to meet John Ross sister,” Pamela Rebecca spoke up, “Not to mention my cousin.”

“Right, you are Cliff’s daughter,” Josephine said.

“Small, crazy world isn’t it?” John Ross said before he made the introductions, “Josephine this is Pamela, Pamela this is Josephine.”

“Pamela?” Josephine said. “That’s the same name as my mother.”

“Yeah I believe I was named after her and our grandmother,” Pamela Rebecca replied, as they sat down.

“Then we have the same name,” Josephine pointed out and when Pamela Rebecca gave her a questioning look she elaborated, “My middle name is Rebecca too.”

“Josephine Rebecca,” John Ross said. “Don’t you think it’s funny her mother gave her my dad’s initials. Surely that must have meant something?”

“Well I guess Katherine’s never been subtle,” Pamela said and Josephine made a face.

Picking up on it, John Ross motioned towards a waiter, “So shall we?” John Ross asked and once the others nodded they placed their orders and were served fresh drinks.

“Enough chit chat,” Josephine said, “why don’t we get down to business?”

“A girl after my own mind,” John Ross smiled.

“So have you come up with a plan how to take over Ewing Global yet?” Josephine asked.

“Yes,” John Ross said. “I’m thinking that it’s about time that you and your mother reclaim what is rightfully yours.”

“Meaning?”

“That when Katherine died nobody knew that she had a daughter so all of her possessions went to her only alive heir.”

“My father,” Pamela filled in.

“Exactly and now when Cliff is gone I think it’s only fair that you should have your rightful inheritance,” John Ross said.

“Hey!” Pamela gave him a look.

“No I’m not talking about your father’s money. I am talking about his company,” John Ross told his wife before turning to his sister, “You and your mother both should have a stake in Barnes Global but since Ewing Global bought up Barnes Global...”

“My stake is now with Ewing Global,” Josephine smiled.

“Exactly so what I want you to do is sue my mama and uncle Bobby for 33% of Ewing Global stock and then when the court delivers you the stock you’ll sell it to me,” John Ross smiled. “Then if your mother will join us and sue them for her 33% of the company...”

“We’ll end up with the majority of the stock and can control the company,” Pamela Rebecca finished John Ross sentence.

“We?” John Ross gave her a questioning look. “I thought you didn’t want anything to do with this.”

“Well what can I say, I changed my mind,” Pamela smiled. “So I’m in.”

“Good,” John Ross grinned. “Josephine?”

“I’m in too,” Josephine said. “But I am not so sure about my mother. After all her share went to Christopher and I don’t think she wants to mess with him.”

“Well Christopher’s out of the company too. So she won’t be messing with him but with my mama and uncle Bobby.”

“But didn’t she used to be married to Bobby?” Josephine asked.

“Yeah but that didn’t stop him from locking up Pam’s brother in jail so if we remind her of that she might be more open to our cause,” John Ross reasoned. “So what do you say?”

“I say it’s worth a try,” Josephine said. “I’ll let her know that you’re interested in meeting her.”

“Excellent ladies,” John Ross said, as he raised his glass. “it looks like we are in business!” The women then raised their glasses and smiled at John Ross as they exchanged a toast to their success.

In TNT John Ross used Harris’s CIA contacts to save Emma. I would think he’d keep them together and his money put together a kick-ass team to do what JR taught him, collect information.

I remember Judith controlled the company. Would she really trust Harris to head the day to day operations considering what he did to her?

I would think Trevino could pull that off. The CIA could and I’m certain Judith could but I don’t think Trevino was capable or he would have not been so afraid of owing them money. Again it was vague so who knows.

I don’t think Pamela would be interested in helping Emma, but if they did it could be interesting I think.

On to the next scene.

Good second front, with Judith as the 1st front, they might need to reconsider cutting John Ross out of the company all together. I’m sure they’ll be furious, and find it hard to pay Carlos if they loose 2/3s of the company but truthfully nothing John Ross has brought up is dishonest. They cut Pam and Katherine out and framed Cliff for a murder he did not commit - that was wrong. Just like Elena being mad when Sue Ellen took her share, but Sue Ellen was in the right. I like this approach, assuming the bad guy is John Ross but really what he’s doing isn’t the wrong side of things in these 2 cases.

Thank you for the feedback @stevew :)
You know I have never seen John Ross as a truly bad guy, just like JR wasn't. I think they are multilayered characters willing to do whatever it takes to achieve their goals and that makes them interesting. I think both John Ross and JR had a sense of vulnerability to them. They weren't just ruthless. It was that more vulnerable side of JR that attracted Sue Ellen to him. But either way I am glad that you like the approach John Ross is using to try to get back control over Ewing Global! :)

It's true that Harris treated Judith awful in season two when he tossed her down the stairs. But I think they were on better terms in season three. Emma's kidnapping probably made it easier for Judith to forgive Harris for that stairs incident. It pulled them closer together.

Anyway here's tonight's update...

*

Harris Ryland had always been a mama’s boy. Unfortunately for him he had a controlling mother who wanted to run his life. Because he had let her manipulate him he had lost the woman he loved and he had deprived his daughter of her mother’s love. Emma hadn’t had a normal childhood and although he loved his daughter and would do anything to protect her, he had failed her. Because he simply couldn’t be both mother and father to the girl. His mother had wanted to fill the mother role. But no matter of how hard she tried, Judith could never take Ann’s place in Emma’s life. It had become obvious to him since Ann had found out that Emma was still alive and had tried to form a relationship with their now grown daughter. Ann was Emma’s mother and although she was an adult now, Emma still needed to have her mother in her life. It pained Harris to acknowledge it, but he had been wrong to let his mother kidnap Emma as a ploy to keep her from Ann. His mother had brainwashed him into thinking he had acted in Emma’s best interests back then when he had in fact been doing what was best for Judith. It had taken him a long time to see the light. But now he knew that depriving Emma of her mother’s love had been the worst mistake he’d ever made in his life. He should have stood up to his mother and fought for his marriage. But instead he’d given up on Ann and he’d lived to regret it ever since. He still loved her. But she was hopelessly married to someone else so regardless of how he still felt about her she was out of his reach. In fact the only reason she was even still talking to him was because they both wanted what was best for Emma. Yes their daughter still bond them together and right now they were both really worried about her.

Harris looked up from his study, as he could hear his former wife came down the stairs after her visit with Emma. “Ann?” He called out for her. “How did it go with Emma today?”

But Ann just kept on walking towards the door, completely ignoring him. Sensing that something wasn’t right he got up and ran after her. “Ann?” But Ann still walked out the door. Realizing that she was really upset, Harris looked from the stairs to the door, contemplating for a moment if he should run after Ann or go check on his daughter. But knowing how strange Emma had been acting lately he knew he had a better shot of finding out what was going on if he asked Ann than her. So he opened the door and ran out after her. “Ann wait!” He called out before he ran up to her, catching up with her just before she’d made it to her car. He grabbing hold of her arm, making her turn around to face him. What he saw broke his heart since Ann was crying real bad. The tears were streaming down her cheeks. “Annie what’s the matter?” He asked worriedly. “How’s Emma?”

“Oh Harris!” Ann sobbed, before she flung herself into his arms, completely capitulating to him. “It’s so horrible I don’t know if I should tell you.”

“What is?” Harris asked, as he rubbed Ann’s back, gently trying to soothe her. “Come on Ann, you can tell me. I am her dad so if something’s wrong with Emma I want to know.”

“I know,” Ann sobbed, before she pulled back from him, feeling a bit embarrassed about the way she had flung herself into his arms. “I’m sorry, I really shouldn’t have done that. It’s just that I’m so upset right now that I don’t know what to do...”

“Upset about what?” Harris asked. “Did something happened to Emma when she was kidnapped?”

“Yes,” Ann admitted. “I’m sorry Harris, but Emma just told me that she was raped!”

“Damn!” Harris cursed angrily, before he kicked the gravel path, making the small stones fly all around them. “Tell me the name of the bastard who did this and I swear I will kill him!”

“I feel the same way but we can’t...”

“Yes we can,” Harris said, clenching his fists. “I’ve worked for the CIA so they’ll have my back if it ever goes to trial...”

“It won’t go to trial,” Ann said.

“How can you be so sure of that?”

“Because you can’t kill a man who’s already dead,” Ann said and Harris seemed to calm down a little by hearing that.

“So the bastard’s dead already?” He said. “Good so who was he?”

“Luis,” Ann spit out his name. “That disgusting pig. God I hate him!”

“The cartel’s lap dog?” Harris spat out. “I should have killed him a long time ago then this would never have happened.”

“It’s not your fault,” Ann said.

“Of course it is,” Harris said. “I worked undercover for the CIA trying to bust their drug ring. So they hated me and because of that they kidnapped you and Emma.”

“I don’t think it’s as simple as that,” Ann said. “They had a bone to pick with the Ewings too. So if anything this is my fault for being married to Bobby.”

“Nonsense,” Harris said. “That pig kidnapped you and Emma to extort pressure on me and Judith to keep our end of a business deal we’d made with them. So if anyone’s to blame for this it’s me.”

“I don’t blame you,” Ann said. “You were trying to do the right thing.”

“Yeah but the prize I paid was too high,” Harris said, looking angry. “If I’d known the cartel would hurt my daughter I wouldn’t have agreed to go undercover.”

“You know Emma thought it was her fault for jeopardizing your cover when she blew the whistle on you,” Ann suddenly said. “She thinks she deserves what happened to her.”

“My poor baby,” Harris said. “Although that made my work difficult, I have never blamed her for that. In fact all I’ve ever done was trying to keep her safe and I’ve failed her. I haven’t been a good father to her.”

“I haven’t been much of a mother to her either,” Ann said.

“You would have been if I’d given you half the chance,” Harris said. “I’m sorry about that.”

“I know but that doesn’t change anything,” Ann said.

“No,” Harris said. “So what do we do now?”

“Harris I’ve already told you that I’m married to Bobby...”

“No about Emma!”

“Oh,” Ann said as she felt embarrassed for assuming he’d been talking about them.

“I mean, she’s gonna need some help,” Harris clarified.

“I agree,” Ann nodded. “Think she’ll talk to a shrink?”

“I don’t know, might be worth a try,” Harris said.

“Okay then I’ll call mine and ask her to set up an appointment for her,” Ann said.

“You’re in therapy?” Harris asked.

“Yeah I have been for years,” Ann admitted.

“I’m sorry to hear that,” Harris said.

“Don’t be, I’m getting help and I know she can help Emma too if she’ll just let her,” Ann said and Harris nodded. The decision to send Emma to a shrink had been reached. Now they just needed to communicate it to Emma and hope she wouldn’t put up too much resistance. After all they only wanted what was best for her.

Afton found Pam out on the patio when she came home to the house that she used to share with Cliff when they were married. Pam was busy watering the plants that Afton had neglected. “Hi Pam, I’m back!” Afton called out to the woman, who had been the closest she’d ever had to having a sister.

“Oh hi Afton,” Pam waved back, before she went to turn off the water. “So how was Mitch?”

“Fine, he and Lucy and the kids send their love,” Afton called back.

“Thanks tell them I sent it right back at them the next time you see them,” Pam smiled.

“Why don’t you tell them yourself?” Afton asked, as she walked up to Pam. “Lucy would like to see you. So would you like me to set up a meeting?”

“Sure I’d like that,” Pam said, before she and Afton sat down in the chairs next to the small garden table.

“Good,” Afton said and they went quiet for a moment before Afton asked, “So where’s Josephine?”

“Oh she went into town to have lunch with John Ross,” Pam replied.

“And my daughter I presume?” Afton said with a sigh.

“She didn’t say anything about that but I guess,” Pam shrugged her shoulders. “I mean I haven’t seen Pamela Rebecca all day so...”

“Oh she left late last night,” Afton sighed.

“What happened?” Pam asked. “I thought she was spending the night?”

“She was supposed to but then she found out that I had visited Cliff before he died and got angry because I hadn’t told her that Cliff was out of prison.”

“I’m sorry,” Pam gave Afton a compassionate look. “But I’m sure she’ll forgive you once she’s calmed down. I mean if Christopher could forgive me for leaving...”

“Christopher’s forgiven you?” Afton asked stunned.

“Yeah,” Pam smiled happily.

“When did this happen?” Afton asked.

“Oh he came by the house earlier today,” Pam smiled. “So I told him what had really happened and we agreed to start over.”

“Just like that?” Afton asked surprised.

“Yeah I was a bit surprised myself,” Pam said. “But I am happy things worked out between us and I am sure you and your daughter will solve things too.”

“I hope so,” Afton said with a sigh.

“I’m sure your son will forgive you too,” Pam then added.

“My son?” Afton looked shocked at Pam. “I don’t have a son.”

“Oh sure you do,” Pam insisted. “Jacob Barnes.” Afton’s face paled when she heard her son’s name and if she hadn’t been sitting down already she might have lost her balance. Seeing Afton's reaction Pam went on, “Oh please don’t be mad. it’s just that I found his baby album earlier today and it made me wonder how come you or Cliff never mentioned your son to me. So I figured you must have had a fall out somewhere and...”

“Pam please stop!” Afton put up her hand as she just couldn’t stand to hear another word.

“What is it?”

“My son is dead!"

“What?”

“Jacob died when he was 14 months old...” Afton's voice faltered, as the pain resurfaced.

Pam felt like kicking herself when she heard that, “Oh Afton, I’m so sorry,” Pam said compassionately as it dawned to her, “So that’s why you and Cliff haven’t mentioned him to me.”

“Yeah, it’s just too painful to talk about him,” Afton said, as the tears welled up in her eyes.

“I understand,” Pam said and squeezed Afton’s hand for support, before adding, “I hope you don’t think I’m insensitive to ask but what did he die from?”

“It was neurofibromatosis,” Afton replied with a heavy heart. “Cliff blamed himself for Jacob’s death and began drinking heavily afterwards. I tried to stand by him but it was really hard since he got mean when he was drunk so it just killed our marriage.”

“I’m so sorry to hear that,” Pam said, feeling incredibly guilty for opening up this past wound. “I know my brother is not easy to live with but I wish you’d made it work somehow.”

“Me too,” Afton sobbed, as the tears ran down her cheeks now, “I tried so hard to make it work for Pamela’s sake. I held out until she was 18 and went off to college but after that there just wasn’t anything left for me," Afton sobbed, before she kept telling Pam what had torn her marriage asunder. "Cliff had thrown himself into his work by that time and had also formed this weird relationship with this young man from Pakistan. His real name was Farad Ahmed but once Cliff had talked him into coming to work for him in America he changed his name to Frank. Frank was an excellent manipulator and he made Cliff think of him as his surrogate son. If he hadn’t been over 18 I think he would have convinced Cliff to formally adopt him too. Anyway Cliff had this weird obsession with this boy and saw him as heir apparent, which really hurt Pamela Rebecca. I hated seeing our daughter sidelined by that manipulator.”

“Did you tell him that?”

“Many times but Cliff never listened. He never valued my opinions or had any time left for me at all," Afton said bitterly. "So one day I just up and left him, we got a divorce and I’ve never regretted it since Cliff was a lousy husband.”

“I can imagine,” Pam sighed. “Still he did love you.”

“I know and I loved him,” Afton sighed. “Probably more than I should have and it just hurts so much that he’s gone.”

“I know,” Pam said, as the tears welled up in her eyes too. “I’m glad I could help Cliff towards the end of his life since he really was there for me at the beginning of mine. But I’m still sad I’ve missed so much time with him. Maybe if I had been here things wouldn’t have gotten so out of hand after you lost Jacob...”

“Pam don’t,” Afton said, holding up a hand, “nothing could have helped in that situation. It’s just the worst feeling in the world, losing a child.”

“I know,” Pam said. “I had two miscarriages.”

“It’s not the same thing,” Afton cried. “I mean imagine having to actually hold your baby and see him smile at you, to watch him take his first steps and say mama and then he gets progressively worse until he dies in your arms...”

“I’m sorry,” Pam cried too. “You and Cliff have been through hell.”

“Yeah and it’s weird but I’m really gonna miss him,” Afton said.

“Me too,” Pam said before the women embraced each other. Their grief over Cliff’s death bond them together and it felt good to have a shoulder to cry on.

I like the Frank explanation. A lot of sadness in the Barnes family. Almost like they’re cursed.

Thanks @stevew it wasn't easy to come up with a way to explain Frank. I mean that plot totally clashed with what we saw on the original show and when they realized it wasn't working it felt like they took the easy way out to get rid of the character as fast as possible instead of coming up with a more plausible explaination.

But yeah the Barnes family sure has had their share of sadness.

Christopher felt emotionally exhausted when he returned home that afternoon. The meeting with his mother had gone way above expectation but it had also left a lot to think about. He had found out today that his mother hadn’t abandoned him, she had been kidnapped and she had raised the daughter of her kidnapper. It didn’t make any sense and trying to take it all in had exhausted him. It had really been a lot to swallow at once. What was even worse was that his mother wanted him to get to know Josephine. The girl was not his sister, but since Pam had raised her as her own child she expected him to treat her like if she was. It was a tall order and Christopher didn’t know how to talk to the girl. He didn’t know her of course, but since she was biologically John Ross sister his gut feeling told him that she couldn’t be trusted.

Elena looked up from her broidery when Christopher returned. She was busy making a pillow for her baby. “Hi Christopher, how did it go with your mother today?”

“It went okay.”

“Good,” Elena said. “So where has she been all these years?”

“In Abu Dhabi,” Christopher said. “She didn’t really leave me though.”

Elena raised an eyebrow, “Meaning?”

“She said she was kidnapped by Katherine,” Christopher said.

“That makes more sense,” Elena sighed. “Still hasn’t your aunt been dead for years?”

“She has,” Christopher confirmed.

“So if her kidnapper was dead, how come she didn’t return to you and Bobby?”

Christopher sighed heavily, “She said she lost her memory after a boating accident!"

“And you believe her?”

“I guess I have to,” Christopher said, shrugging his shoulders. “We decided to start over. She asked for my forgiveness.”

“Good, so did you?”

“I’m still working on it,” Christopher sighed. “It’s not easy to do but seeing her today after all these years has at least helped me get rid of my anger. I still think it’s unfair how my mom was taken from me and it hurts to know that she raised Katherine’s daughter instead of me. But at least now I know that she never really abandoned us. It was just dad who was conned into believing that she had. Sort of like when John Ross’ e-mail broke us apart, you know?”

“I know,” Elena sighed. “So who sent the letter to your dad?”

“Katherine,” Christopher said accusingly. “Mom thinks she never would have succeeded if she hadn’t been in that horrible accident.”

“So in a way the person driving that truck is responsible for separating you and your mother?”

“That’s one way of looking at it,” Christopher said as he pondered that for a moment. “My mom is convinced that was an accident. But I’m starting to think that maybe it wasn’t.”

“You think Katherine arranged that too?”

“I think it’s possible,” Christopher admitted. “I mean she did arrange everything else. You know what I think I’m gonna have Bum look into that accident for me.”

“To see if it really was an accident, you mean?”

“Yeah I wanna know who was responsible for that truck,” Christopher said and Elena sighed, since she had thought that now when Christopher had made up with his mother he would be able to let go of the hurt from his childhood. But it seemed like he was looking for vengeance instead and Elena knew from past experience that it never really ended well.
