Did You Feel for Any of the Villains

The program featured quite a few characters who went off the deep end and did awful things leading to their demise. Did you feel for any of them? I felt Joshua is the one I took most pity on. I do not think growing up with his holier-than-thou father Jonathan was easy. He appeared genuinely nice and good until success came to him. It appeared to me it was too much, and he had a bad nervous breakdown. Val was correct he needed psychiatric assistance.

Alec Baldwin is a good actor, an innate star, so he knew how to make the most out of the role and have the audience feel for an abject sociopath. It didn't hurt that he looked like a god at the time.

Later, he dismissed KNOTS as "your standard soap opera." And I haven't trusted him ever since.

....especially if you saw his tenure as Billy Aldrich on NBC's The Doctors. Granted, the show was on its last legs but they didn't know that when they hired him. Maybe he doesn't remember much because of....certain distractions going on at the time?

I'm surprised. I have always heard he was very flattering and gracious in his remarks KL and his time there.
I didn't feel any empathy or sympathy of the villains, although my favorites were Chip and Jill. I would feel sympathy for Anne, if she counts as a villain. Chip, Danny, Jill and Joshua, not so much. I didn't see any redeeming qualities in them.

Alec is an intelligent, analytical person. He may very well have said gracious things about KNOTS and some of the people he worked with as well.

I, also, don't tend to feel much empathy or sympathy for the villains either -- although I don't always feel that much sympathy for the good guys, for the most part. There are exceptions. I felt some sympathy for Lillimae on occasion (like when she runs over people), and Val being forced to attempt suicide in 1988 was pretty harrowing -- her victim complex reaching its apotheosis in that scene.

Chip and Jill were good villains (see above), and deliciously despicable; Jushua was, too.
