Didn't Dimensions in Time include characters from Eastenders? Granted it was kind of simple,
but it was fun to see the Doctor Who actors from multiple eras.

Yes. Dimensions in Time was a Children in Need thingy. Noel Edmonds is said to have asked for it to be shortened, so he could have showed more of his Crinkly Bottom. So he is a love/hate figure among some fans, whatever they are. And the Mandy/Big Ron choice was faked.

When the Golden Girls spin-off Golden Palace was not renewed, GG's other spin-off Empty Nest took on original "Golden Girl" Sophia Petrillo (played by Estelle Getty) in a supporting role. She was still the same Sophia, just used much more sparingly since she was there mostly to deliver a few jokes and then leave. Sophia had of course been part of lots of crossover stories between GG and EN when both aired on NBC, but she was the only GG character who was tapped to become a permanent part of Empty Nest.

it was right to take her over: a character like Sophia has to survive the end of a show ---

The very best-ever permanent crossover plot has to be the move of uber-villain Sheila Carter from The Young and the Restless to its sister show, The Bold and the Beautiful. To say Sheila had been painted into a corner would be an understatement, but Head Writer Bill Bell was brilliant enough to imagine the character could

continue her reign of terror on the other show. Thirty years later, Shelia can still draw a crowd.

I think it should happen more often to have a loved character comming back in another show / even in another soap universe (I know it´s difficult in terms of rights etc.)
like Alexis Colby showing up in "Pacific Palisades" or Linda Grey beeing Sue Ellen Wing instead of Hillary on "Models Inc." - I know actors doesn´t want to be labeled but after beeing on such a succesful show like "Dynasty" or "Dallas" they are labeled anyway and viewers love their roles of a lifetime ...

Well, the supernatural villain, Mr Stabs (Russell Hunter), from Ace of Wands, reappeared years later in Shadows. And then he reappeared years later in his own prequel Dramarama episode, now played by David Jason. There were even plans for Mr Stabs to star in his own tv series. So the character appeared in three stories in three different tv series, in the space of fourteen years.

The Green Hornet and Kato made a window cameo in Batman. Which came to be a bit contradicted when The Green Hornet and Kato later appeared in a Batman two-parter.

Yeah, in the window gag Batman welcomes them as fellow crime-fighters, but in the full crossover he believes with everyone else that they are criminals. Or are they just characters from a TV show?

Yes. It is like multiple realities. In The Green Hornet, he sees Batman and Robin on tv, scaling walls. In another episode, characters in The Green Hornet are watching the Batman tv show, complete with seeing the Batcave with Batman incidental music playing. Then in the Batman tv series, Bruce Wayne is about
to watch The Green Hornet, when The Joker interrupts. A Hornet buzzing sound is heard and a bit of The Green Hornet theme tune plays.

In the window cameo, The Green Hornet says that they are fighting crime and on assignment for the Daily Sentinel. But in the crossover story, Bruce Wayne has known Britt Reid for a long time and they are both unaware of each other’s secret identities. Although they have seen each other’s tv shows.

Ethan from Casualty, upstairs on Holby City, making the third of his four crossover appearances, nearly linking into his Casualty storylines. And spending time with murdering medic, Professor Gaskell (Paul McGann), who later bumped off Roxanna in the clip.

And some of the Casualty and Holby City characters turned up in Holby Blue.

Well, she does have a smile on her face. Besides by meeting number three, she requests JR to shut up. Which he does. He mentions her on Dallas afterwards as being a pretty little bundle.
