If I’m going abroad I would take the vaccine I’m not planning on going abroad for a few years as I can’t afford it and the world situation on this and other things isn’t exactly stable right now, plus I have other priorities.

I am no fan of these passports considering that it forces people to get vaccinated. Even the weak, the old, the poor and the young. Plus those who are against vaccinations for any reason, good or stupid. It's segregating. I'd rather we open up when enough people are vaccinated. If some countries we're as selfish and rather build up a big storage of vaccine before shipping to other countries (looking at you, USA), it would be so much quicker.

Israel have introduced a green pass which people who have been vaccinated can apply for to use for entry to spaces and events where many people gather. It has allowed the country to open gyms, swimming pools, hotels, theatres, concert halls, etc. which otherwise would have remained shut. No one is forced to be vaccinated but if they choose not to they are unable to go to certain events and spaces until the covid infection rate falls further and it is deemed to be safe. The system is working well for the country and it has enabled a range of businesses to open sooner than would have been the case without the green pass.

The choice many countries will face will be between introducing a vaccine passport or for everything to remain shut for longer, of the 2 options, vaccine passports is the better one.

The government are already trying to take away our right to protest, so how much do you want to bet that vaccine passports won’t become a permanent thing?

When enough people are vaccinated and by the looks of things more will be vaccinated than not then we can open up again if that’s what it takes, furlough has been extended to September and I’m not banking that there won’t be a fourth lockdown later this year.

I’ll say it again authoritarianism isn’t the way forward out of this, but judging by how soon we won’t even be able to protest, people shouldn’t complain when we lose more of our freedoms.

Yes because what is there to gain from keeping them indefinitely? In the short term passports will allow more businesses to open and to open more fully which will save jobs, individual incomes and the economy as a whole. In the longer term, once the infection rate has dropped to a level where the virus no longer is such an urgent threat and people can mix freely without sparking another spike in infections, passports would no longer serve a purpose.

Well, based on how we can no longer protest, I have a hard time believing that authoritarians would put an end date to these Domestic vaccine passports, I don’t have any trust in these politicians, Covid is being used as an excuse to take away our civil liberties

We're heading to an incredibly dark place now in this country of far right populism as evidenced by the attack on migrants and the new laws on protest coming in the past few weeks. 'First I said nothing for I was not a migrant, a woman or a lefty....'

I don't doubt that Covid is serious and I have persevered in following the law of the land up to now, but if things like vaccine passports to enter pubs become a reality I'm out. I'm of ill health so been vaccinated, but I'm in my 20s so none of my healthy friends have been done. Wasn't the whole fucking point of vaccinating us ill people so all of us could mix safely?

The economy has been trashed, livelihoods and businesses destroyed - unemployment in my area is at nearly 10% and that's before you count those on furlough or with too much money to claim benefits, the social and cultural fabric of our country eroded and all for what? Yes some lives have been saved (primarily the elderly and the vulnerable) but at what cost? The perfect gateway to an authoritarian regime.

I have no doubt that the initial intention of those involved in these restrictions been imposed was benevolent authoritarianism, unfortunately I don't accept that the most authoritarian cabinet we've had since WW2 are going to be in any rush to revere them.

Couldn’t have put it better myself, some of my peers said that Covid would be used to usher in authoritarianism, they were called tin foil hat wearers, now a year on, and look at where we are?

I don’t doubt that Covid is serious, but I also don’t see the need for such extreme authoritarian measures as a way out of this, do people really think we will simply go back to the world as it was in 2019? No we won’t, we should have our freedoms back period, no ifs, no buts, no conditions, the majority of us have complied with the rules, I don’t know anyone who hasn’t.

It’s utterly disgraceful that the government are banning protests and its more disgraceful that there are people out there who support this, I don’t even think this is a left/right paradigm anymore, I’ve known those on the centre left and right who now agree this is sinister, this is libertarianism vs authoritarianism.
