Back on topic, around the same period, there were plans for a US version of Bad Girls, which came from the same UK production company as Footballers Wives. HBO made a stab at developing it with Alan "Six Feet Under" Ball in charge but it never even got as far as casting. A few years later, NBC had a go and it got as far as the pilot with Amy Smart, Jaime Pressly, Tracee Ellis Ross and Jurnee Smollett starring. Presumably, that pilot is out there somewhere, waiting to be unearthed for our viewing delight / horror.
