Thank you everyone for all your questions. I will do my best to answer them. :)

@Englishboy

Where do you like to go on holiday?

I love to travel and to discover new exciting places I have never visited before. :cool:

Some places I have never been to that I would love to go to some day are:
Egypt, I wanna see the Pyramids. Also everything about Cleopatra fascinates me.
Kenya, I have a friend who live there that I wanna visit and I also wanna go on a safari.
China, I wanna walk on the great wall like my grandma did when I was a little girl.
Australia, it seems like such an awesome continient with cool animals like koala bears and kangaroos.

However in case you mean places I have gone on holiday to many times already. It would be:
Denmark, Germany, France, Italy and the UK.

Do you have a favourite city that you have visited overseas?

My favorite city abroad is London since it's been 20 years since I first visited it and I keep going back to it every few years.

However I suspect with "overseas" you mean on the other side of the Atlantic. So well cities I have visited there are:

USA: Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, Washington DC, San Francisco, San Clemente, Santa Barbara, Mammoth, Solvang, Fort Worth etc.
South America: Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Lima, La Paz, Cusco, Potosi etc.

I am having a hard time to pick a favorite. But I have been twice to Dallas, Los Angeles, Lima and Cusco.

Which cast members from the original series of Dallas have you met?

Patrick Duffy, Larry Hagman, Linda Gray, Steve Kanaly, Charlene Tilton, Susan Howard, Priscilla Presley, Ken Kercheval, Audrey Landers, Sheree J Wilson, Mary Crosby, Joan Van Ark, Ted Shackelford, Deborah Rennard, Deborah Tranelli, Danone Simpson, Roseanna Christiansen and Frances Rizo.

@Angela Channing

What is your favourite place on earth?

Probably Stockholm.

What achievement in your life are you most proud of?

I don't know if proud is the word as I have a lot of mixed emotions about this one. But I spent 8 years working on making a documentary about leprosy. It was a tough journey but I pulled it off. It was a collaboration with the leprosy mission in Sweden. I spent four years raising the funds to go to India. Then I travelled to India with two friends from work and spent two weeks in the country. It was a combined vacation and work trip. So we spent about 3 days filming where we interviewed people and visited leprosy colonies and hospitals. It was a really special experience and I didn't know beforehand if I would be strong enough to do it. But I was able to meet people without fear and to see beyond their illness. I think I showed them compassion and I am proud of that. I also think this journey made me stronger and changed my outlook of life. Initially it made me feel grateful for everything I have taken for granted in my life. So it was a very special trip.

Afterwards I went back to Sweden and spent about 3 ½ years editing the documentary. Actually I did two parts, one 30 minutes in Swedish about the journey and one 40 minutes documentary in English. My one regret with this project is that I did this because I wanted to help people with leprosy by bringing attention to their cause. But by the time this was finished the leprosy mission in Sweden had lost interest in it. So basically they paid me less than what we originally had agreed upon and I doubt they have even used the films I made. So it makes me feel like I worked really hard and in the end it was all for nothing. So yeah mixed emotions about this one. Proud that I went to India, met people and did the documentary. Sad that it's not been used properly.

Oh and I came to think of another achievement. I got my undergraduate thesis at the University published into a book. That made me feel proud. :)
The book is called: "Masculinity & Feminity - A reception study about the construction of gender in four relationships on the TV series Buffy & Angel."
It took me five years to write it.

What is your all time favourite film?

Gone With The Wind (1939)
I was able to watch it at the cinema four years ago. It was a special experience.

Do you have any pets?

Yes a dog named Dennis.

@Emelee
Midsommar or julafton?

Julafton.

@Barbara Fan

if you were not Swedish, which country and city would you like to live in?

Probably somewhere in the USA.
Or possibly London, UK.

How old were you when you 1st learned to speak English (its so good)

Thank you. :)
I started learning English when I was in 4th grade, so I was 10 years old at the time.
Before then I only knew a few words like "yes," "no" and "good morning."
It took me about two years before I felt like I could actually say anything in English though.
I remember studying my glossary really hard when I was in middle school and always trying to get 10 out of 10 correctly spelled words.
I think the first word I got misspelled was "table" I spelled it "Tabel". The worst part about it was that when I got uncertain of the spelling I copied a friend's answer and she had it wrong too. It taught me a valuable lesson though and I have never cheated again at school after that!

I think the reason my English is good though is because I studied at a bilingual High School where some of my subjects were taught in English when I was between 16-19 years old.

Who are your favourite musical artists and do you have any fav songs

I think Peter Jöback would classify as he's done a lot of musicals.

Favorite Musicals would be Mamma Mia! , Evita, Chess, Kristina från Duvemåla and Miss Saigon.
I remember getting really emotional when I first watched Miss Saigon at the age of 18. I had no idea how it would end and it was so sad that it brought me to tears. It was a brilliant production too. I saw it in Stockholm.

I also loved watching the Evita movie at the cinema when I was about 15 or 16. All the songs in that one are superb. Madonna was awesome as Evita.

Favorite musical songs: With One Look, You Must Love Me, Send in the Clowns, Memory, Heaven Help My Heart, I Know Him So Well, The Movie In My Mind, The Last Night of the World, Du Måste Finnas etc.

You have interviewed several members of the Dallas cast, do you have a favourite interview and why ?

Probably the first one I did in Mirande back in 2007. It was actually my very first job as a journalist and I felt like I had to pinch myself as it felt totally unreal. It was an absolute dream come true that I never had expected would happen to me. For a long time afterwards I felt like "how on earth am I ever going to be able to top this?" But I did when I interviewed them again also in Mirande in 2013. I had learnt a lot in the years in between those interviews. So that interview turned out a lot better.

Are you able to tell us anything of your planned documentary on Dallas?

No not really. But since you brought that up I feel like I have to say something about it. So I guess the cat is out of the bag.
As some of my friends in this community already know about, I am currently working on a Dallas documentary!:D
I got the idea for it back in the summer of 2017 and at first I didn't think anything would come out of it. But then I was given an opportunity to go to Dallas so I began filming for this back in 2018 when I went to the Dallas 40th Anniversary event. This project is very much a work in progress and I am not done with it yet. I had hoped to complete it until next year but I need to do more interviews before I can complete it and right now with the Corona situation that is impossible. So well it will take longer than I had expected. But I'd rather spend more time on it and interview more people and have a better documentary in the end, than to rush this and put together something that I am not satisfied with. I want this to turn out well so I will do my best.

Right now I am actually doing an audience survey to get a better idea of the intended audience for this documentary. So if you are a Dallas fan and would like to help me out with this, you can PM me and I will send you the survey to fill out. All answers would be much appreciated. Thank you.

What are your memories of Wogan 2006 Then and now (I think that was the first time i met you, @Sarah and Bobbys Angel- happy days)

You are right. It was the first time we all met.:ch:
I remember being really nervous beforehand. I had to travel in really late in the evening to London the night before and I was afraid to walk alone from the underground to my hotel in the dark. But it went ok. I was also nervous about not being able to eat properly on the trip. It also went ok. On the day of the taping I was also really nervous. But then I met you all before the taping and then I felt at ease. It was like meeting friends that you had known for a long time. I just feel like we bonded immediately. I wasn't nervous anymore. I was thrilled and happy to be there. I was among friends and we were going to have fun.

I remember we had to stand in line for quite a bit before the taping. You and Sarah went in beforehand since you were going to ask questions. Bobby's Angel and I ended up sitting next to each other at the taping. I remember thinking that Wogan had such a cool job and I wished that I would one day be able to interview the cast too. I never believed it would actually come true a year later. It was a really nice show. I enjoyed it. I was star struck when I first saw Linda, Larry and Patrick. Wogan was funny. He was a great show host, interviewer even though I didn't like his nasty nicknames for Lucy and Baby Christopher. I felt those were uncalled for.

After the taping we were waiting outside of the BBC when their cars drove by. Linda rolled down her window and shook hands with the fans through the window. It made everyone really excited and happy she did that.

I think you might have already have left though, as you had to catch a flight. The rest of us were supposed to have met up with more people from the board for a board party. But we had problems finding each other. So Sarah and I ended up spending some time with KL4Ever and her daughter and also met Colin. Then later on in the evening Sarah and I ended up hanging out just the two of us. She showed me the theatre in the West End where she first had seen Linda in The Graduate. We had a lot of fun. :pals:

How long does it take you to make a music video and do you have a particular favourite?

It actually varies greatly. If we don't count the time it takes me to capture the clips from VHS tapes or DVDs, which takes hours...

Well to edit a video together, the fastest I've ever done a video is 3-4 hours. But most videos I spend a lot more time on. I think the longest it's taken me about 30-40 hours. I am a perfectionist so I strive for the videos to be as perfect as possible.

Yes I do have some favorites of my own videos that I have on my phone and watch when I am travelling and such. Those are videos that I think turned out really good.

Elizabeth Taylor & Richard Burton - Happy Endings
I spent hours on it trying to find clips that worked from movies and archive footage. I love the "A little bit of love" section. It is obvious how much they loved each other by just looking at them.

JR & John Ross - Too Hard to Say Goodbye
Such a sad video. I cried when I edited it together. I had grief at the time I did this. Not just for Larry. But because my grandpa had died about a month after Larry.
Anyway this was my farewell to JR. I love that we got to follow JR & John Ross since childhood until he is a grown man. Mixing the clips together from TNT and original Dallas added an extra layer.

JR & Sue Ellen - Rolling in the Deep.
This video is special since it marked the first video that I used a new editing technique that was a bit more fast paced. It was inspired by a technique I had used in my work editing for a trailer I had made the same month.

Charlene Tribute - Live Life
This video took me about a month to make. I love the ice skating parts. The song is also uplifting and I feel happy watching this.

There are more of course. But these stands out and pops into my mind first. So now which of my videos are your favorites?

I know, I am not supposed to ask the questions, but please feel free to tell me which ones of my fan music videos are your personal favorites!
I would be curious to know that. But do it in this thread:

Not to get this one to go off topic!:)

How do you chooose the clips for each video and songs?

I want my fan music videos to tell a story. I use the song lyrics to tell the story and try to find clips that I think fit with the lyrics. Sometimes I get inspired when I hear a song I start seeing clips in my mind. Then I know I have to make that video!

I sometimes try out different clips to the same song lyrics and then chose the clips that fit best together with the whole arc. But basically I chose clips that I associate to the song lyrics in some way. Sometimes I use background images and transition effects too. But that was more common in my earlier videos.

Different videos have different moods. Some are funny videos. Some are sad. Most are about love. Different couples, TV couples, movie couples, real life celebrity couples. Then there are also some that are about other relationships and character studies. The most time consuming and difficult video to make is a tribute video that mixes clips from several movies and tv-series.

Have you ever considered becoming a tourist Guide?

Yes briefly when I was in my early twenties. I think I even applied for a job as it. I didn't get it.
My sister is a tourist guide though and an excellent one. So I leave that to her.
You're welcome again about the Stockholm sightseeing. It was great fun to see you! :pals:

@superman fan

What got you inserted in writing?

Good question. I first began writing on a short novel series when I was 11 years old. I made up a family that I wrote about. Most stories was about the two oldest daughters who were 12 and 15. I used a lot of my real life experiences to write those. It was about going to school. About friends. Going on vacation. Having pets. Everyday things really. A dream of mine is to type up the stories into the computer and publish as a children's book. But I haven't gotten around to it yet. Maybe some day. I kept writing on those stories until I was 20 years old. Then I began writing other stories in English. I have considered revising those and publish something too as a book. I think it would be less work than the children's book as those stories are originally in English and written on the computer. Also the stories I wrote in my 20s are pretty much love stories so I think those would appeal to a more broad audience than the children's stories.

Then as you all know I also write fanfics. The first fanfic I began writing on was a Dallas fanfic that I co-write together with my sister Jenny. The reason we began writing on it was because we didn't like the way the original Dallas ended with JR committing suicide so we wanted to write a story that gave the show a better ending. That was in 1994 and we kept writing on that story for 20 years!

That's all for tonight. I need to sleep now. :byee:

It must have been so disappointing after all those years of work not to have your work seen by a wider audience.

I take full responsibility. I wasn't leaving until Linda and Larry came out and left too, and @Karin Schill stayed with me.

We did go to the Defectors Weld but everyone had gone :( Sorry you were left stranded @Angela Channing but you know, needs must! ;)

Wow, so many things to learn about someone - and so very interesting too.

Karin, can I ask, away from Dallas, what are your top 3 shows of all time & also, if you could have dinner with just 1 guest/alive or dead, who would it be?

Thank you everyone for your questions. I will do my best to reply to them. :)

@tommie I thought you lived in a small town about 30 minutes by car from where I live since you mentioned when I posted "Sista Året" that you were familiar with "Ung Arena." But maybe you have moved away from that town by now?

@Barbara Fan I understand why you left. Still it was a shame it was so sudden. I don't even remember if we had the time to say goodbye. :think: Not hat it matters that much as we met again one and a half years later! :)

@rlr718

Which characters from Buffy the vampire slayer and angel is your favorites and why?

I love most characters and couples from both shows. But my favorite character on Buffy the Vampire Slayer is actually Buffy. Probably because I am a fan of Sarah Michelle Gellar. So I have followed her career the most. Also the character of Buffy is a heroine who is trying to save the world on a regular basis so what's not to love about that? :cool1

I love Willow, Cordy, Xander, Tara, Oz, Spike, Drusilla, Giles, Joyce, Anya and Faith too!

On Angel I guess my favorite character would be Angel or Cordy. Angel because I'm a fan of David Boreanaz and have kept up with his career too. I also think he's really handsome.

Cordy because she grew so much on this show. She was originally really shallowed and self-centered but got to become more caring. I also dressed up as Cordy for Halloween one year.

I also love Wes, Doyle, Fred, Gunn, Lorne, Darla, Harmony and Lilah.

@Englishboy

Do you post on any forums wide of tellytalk (if so, which ones) or are you exclusive to the tellytalk forums?

I have been posting on other forums like an Elizabeth Taylor forum that has unfortunately disappeared now. I'm still in contact with some friends from there. The homepage for it was:

I used to post over at the Dynasty forum. It had some excellent fanfics and I made some friends from there too that I met up with when we went to see Joan Collins one woman show in 2011. It was so much fun! :D

But unfortunately the forum is not that active anymore:

I used to post on the Sarah Michelle Gellar forum that belonged to a fanpage called "smgfan.com"
But it has unfortunately disappeared now.

I also used to post at a comic forum about Buffy for a bit. I don't remember the url.

I am still posting occasionally on another Buffy forum.

But I do consider the "soapchat" now "tellytalk" community to be my home forum on the net. :)

@Angela Channing

I am sorry we missed you at the meet up location. But yes like @Sarah explained we got delayed at the studios waiting outside of the BBC for the cast to show up. ;)
It was worth the wait too!

Yes you are right it was a disappointment that the leprosy documentary hasn't had the impact that I hoped it would. :(

That's an impressive list. Anyone from the cast that you haven't yet met but would like to?

Yes I would like to meet: Victoria Principal, Cathy Podewell, Sasha Mitchell, Morgan Brittany, Kimberly Foster, Omri Katz, Joshua Harris, Shalane McCall, Leigh McCloskey and William Smithers.

I would also love to meet the Dallas TNT cast!

Who is the most famous person you've met?

Good question. It might be a toss up between Larry Hagman and Joan Collins.

Or Mother Teresa. I haven't exactly met her though. You see I was singing in a children's choir when I was growing up. When I was nine years old we were singing together with a lot of other children's choirs at a Christian event that was televised and one of the head speakers was Mother Teresa. She was there because a girl in my choir had been adopted from her orphanage. I remember she was talking about anti-abortion and how every child had the right to live. I remember she made an impression on me. But I never talked to her or anything. I just saw her. So I am not sure if it counts as having met.

If Hollywood was going to make a film of your life, who would chose to play you?

Vivien Leigh. But that is impossible since she died long before I was born.

So let's see contemporary stars. A friend once said that I looked a bit like Emma Roberts. That was when she was still a brunette. But I haven't really watched her in any of her films so I don't know how talented she is. :embarrassed:

I guess I would just have to have a casting session. Maybe an unknown would be best to play me!

Are you a morning person or a night owl?

Definitely night owl. I tend to do my best writing or fan music videos late at night. Also when I was in college I was always up working all night on my thesis or home assignments on the date before they were supposed to be handed in. Bad habit I know. But unfortunately true.

I have gotten a bit better with getting up in the mornings though.

If you won first prize in the lottery, what would you spend the money on?

It depends on how much money I would win. But I don't think I would spend it all. I would probably spend some, save some for retirement and give some to my parents to give back for all they've done for me.

Then again the chances of me winning the lottery is about zero as I don't even have a lottery ticket! :laughs:

@pete lashmar

Karin, can I ask, away from Dallas, what are your top 3 shows of all time?

Knots Landing is definitely my second most favorite show of all times. Dallas is number one.

Then as for the final third spot it varies a little so I guess it is a toss up between Dynasty, Buffy the Vampire Slayer or Angel.

Also, if you could have dinner with just 1 guest/alive or dead, who would it be?

My paternal grandfather (farfar). He died from cancer 4 years before I was born so I have never met him. :(

Okay that's all for now! :)

If you could live as a character inside one of the big four soaps which would it be? Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing or Falcon Crest? Which world would you like to inhabit and be a part of?

Oh, you mean the town where they held Sveriges första riksdag? Yeah, I've moved since a few years ago - my parents still live there, so I'm there every holiday; plus I love it there these days. I don't think you fully appreciate it living there, but it's beautiful once you've moved:

I live in Gothenburg now, since quite a few years back. It's pretty, but at times it doesn't beat that feel of in-land Sweden.

Hi Karin,

Its fascinating reading this thread and I am so impressed with how creative you are, you must have a great imagination to be able to write stories. and yes, your English is excellent!

I particularly enjoyed reading about your involvement with Leprosy and you made me smile when you said that you could see the person beyond the illness, What a shame that documentary is not available to see, I would've definitely looked it up.

I assume that you're involved with professional filming? but in your spare time you make your own fan video's. I always admire anyone who is able to create their own videos etc. its something I wish I could do.

I was wondering, how did you learn to use the computer in such a creative way?

Thank you everyone for your replies and questions. :)

@rlr718 nice gif, thanks for sharing. I agree with you about the characters on Buffy & Angel. :)

@Alexis

Karin can you tell me more about your meeting with Joan Collins. I didn't know you met her. And you say you met with Soapchatters at Joan's one woman show? Who did you meet with?

I remember I posted about meeting Joan Collins on Soapchat after it happened. But of course that post is now lost in the big crash of 2016. Anyway I went to her One Woman Show in London back in october 2011. A couple of days before my sister and I were going to London I stepped into a hole when I was out filming an on town segment with two girls I was working with. I was looking over their shoulder to check something they had filmed and didn't look where I was going and wham there I was with one of my feet in a hole. I got a muscle rupture from that and had to eat painkillers to be able to walk. Perfect timing for our trip to London. Not! :lol:

Anyway off to London we went and the first thing that happened to me when we arrived was that a man standing in front of me in the escalator from the underground lost his balance and fell backwards on me, making me lose my balance too. I fell backwards, as I held on to the railing of the escalator for dear life, tearing up my bracelet in the process and luckily my sister was strong enough to catch me from falling down further and tripping her over too. They had to stop the escalator. It was a truly scary moment. :(

But luckily for me that unfortunate event worked to my advantage because later that evening when I went to Joan's one woman show and mentioned what had happend to me, while asking a question in the Q & A session at the end, she allowed me to come backstage for a quick meet and greet after the show. It was me and another fan from the Philippines I think. No other fans were allowed. Sadly I wasn't able to bring my friends. Anyway the actual meeting was very brief. I got my photo taken with her. I didn't ask for an autograph as I already had one. She was nice. But when I did the mistake of asking if I could give her a hug, stupid move since she is afraid of germs and I should have remembered that, she had us thrown out of there really fast! :lol:

So that was that. Still I was star struck by her. Her one woman show was also really entertaining and she looked marvellous. I know I won't look that good when I am her age. But yeah I love to hug people and in her case it was not a good thing.

Oh and the other fans I met up with were from "the carrington mansion" board. But I know that at least two of them used to post here too. One was going under the screen name of "Wicked Abby" and the other one was "Ss9", who write wonderful Dynasty fanfics. Unfortunately I don't think she ever signed up again after the crash. But you can find her stories on fanfiction.net or at the Carrington mansion if you haven't read them already. She wrote a season ten, eleven and twelve of Dynasty that I was completely hooked on. I even had her stories printed out to read. The final girl I met up with I don't know if she ever posted here or just on carrington-mansion. She was from Germany. The four of us, five with my sister Jenny had a wonderful time when we met up. We were all about the same age too. So we had much fun! :)

If you could live as a character inside one of the big four soaps which would it be? Dallas, Dynasty, Knots Landing or Falcon Crest? Which world would you like to inhabit and be a part of?

I love all four of these shows and I have actually visited some of the filming locations of all four shows too! :)

But it would have to be Dallas. Actually in my first Dallas fanfic "Dallas in the 90s" there is a character that we created that's called Melissa. She is John Ross 15 year old girlfriend. When we first created the character I imagined that I could play her. Because you know there was a part of me in that character. So maybe I'd be Melissa. Or maybe I'd be Rebecca. She is Bobby & Pam's daughter that we also created. The character is only 7 years old though and no I wouldn't want to be that age again! :lol:
But there's some of me as a child in that character as I was also outspoken and curious as a child. But I was not as spoiled.

Or maybe I could have been JR & Sue Ellen's daughter if they'd ever had one. I don't know what her name would be though.

Still as much fun as it is to imagine being a character on a TV show I honestly don't think I would want to be somebody else.

@tommie

Oh, you mean the town where they held Sveriges första riksdag?

Yeah exactly. It is a nice small town. I went there last year with a friend from abroad on sightseeing. But yeah I can see why you've moved away from there. I think most people from around here move to either Stockholm or Göteborg so I am not surprised you ended up in the latter. You are right it is not that close anymore. However if you ever want to meet up while you are visiting your folks send me a PM to let me know! :)

@Emelee

Can you describe your dream vacation?

I think I've already had it. Like back in 2017 my sister and I went to California for the first time. We visitied with a friend and extended family, celebrated Thanksgiving, went to Disneyland, went to see Donna Mills in Driving Miss Daisy, visited a lot of filming locations and did a bunch of sightseeing, WB studio tour. We rented a car and travelled up Highway One (Pacific Coast Highway) all the way to San Francisco. We did a detour where there had been a mudslide and had to travel back from Monterey as far as it went. We saw the Big Sur, Hearst Castle, Filoli mansion, drove across the Golden Gate Bridge up to Napa Valley. The journey lasted a little over 2 weeks all together I think and it was a dream vacation. :cool:

Before we went on this vacation it had been our dream to visit some of these places since 1995!

Of course once you've lived one dream there's always another to take it's place. So well another kind of dream vacation would be to go on a cruise around the world, or to live on a ranch and ride horses for a week. I doubt I'll ever get around to do that. But it's vacations I dream about.

Who's your favourite author?

Astrid Lindgren. When I was a teenager/in my early 20s I used to read a lot of Danielle Steel books too. But it has to be Astrid Lindgren, as I love all her books, all her movies and Tv-series. I have also been to Astrid Lindgren's värld (albeit a year too late. I was 12 and I was too tall for the miniature houses) and Junibacken (twice as an adult) and when I was a kid I have also visited the Bullerbyn houses, her family home in Vimmerby, Emil's house and Pippi's house.

How big or small is your closet?

It is too small! :lol:
I keep buying new stuff but rarely ever get rid of anything as I can still fit into the same size as I had 15 years ago!
So I have clothes hanging on different levels, some are pushed back into the closet, others are in the front and I have multiple summer dresses, tank tops and skirts hanging on the same hangers. It's so packed that when I am trying to find a particular item of clothing that I don't know where it is, I might have to look for 10 minutes before finding it!

A few years ago I tried to organize my sweaters into a special baskets so they are a bit better organized now. I wish I could get the rest of my closet organized too but things are pretty much just crammed in there.

@Long Lashes

Yes I think I must have been blessed with a great imagination. I remember when I was a little girl my sister and I sometimes played with our My Little Ponies in the garden and a neighbour overheard us and she told my mom that she hoped I'd never loose my imagination. Still when I write stories I sometimes get inspired by real life too. Like a character can be inspired by someone I know or there might be a piece of me in a character too.

Thank you for your encouragement about my leprosy documenary. :)
There is a trailer available if you want to watch it on my work YouTube channel:

I assume that you're involved with professional filming?

Yes I work professionally with filming. I am a journalist and by the time when I got my education at the University the profession had changed so that you had to know how to do interviews and film at the same time and later on also do your own editing when making a reportage. Before there were three people to do that job. Now there is one.

However I often work on different youth projects and there I work with people who have different levels of knowledge. Some are pros like me, others are beginners and then I have to teach them how to film when I work with them. So I would label some of my productions as semi-professional, as there can also be amateurs involved.

Right now I am actually working on a project where we are making a youth movie that I am directing/producing/editing/filming. It was supposed to have been done by now but Covid-19 delayed everything so we haven't wrapped filming yet.

I was wondering, how did you learn to use the computer in such a creative way?

Well when I was in Junior High I got training in how to type on the keyboard with the right fingers. That has been helpful to me in my writing.

When I was in High School we also got education in how to use the computer, like how to surf, use microsoft word, powerpoint, excel etc.

In college I was taught how to use Final Cut Pro to edit a short film. I also used that editing software when I was involved with TV Campus.

I got education how to do a simple newspaper layout in In design too.

But before I learnt how to edit in college I tried it at home in my sparetime. In the fall of 2003 my dad had bought a computer course where you got several different softwares and instructions how to use the softwares. One was a Video Editing program called "Ulead Video Studios 4". I installed that on his computer and followed the instructions how to use it when I did my first fan music video. Before I did that I had made some fan presentations on powerpoint where I had mixed songs to still images. The idea was similar to a fan music video but nowhere near as perfect as a fan music video as sometimes the presentations would play back wrong so the images and song lyrics didn't match at all.

These days I use Corel Video Studios Pro X3 or most often Sony Vegas Pro 10 to edit my fan music videos. I also use Sony Vegas Pro for work editing.

I hope that answered your questions.

That's all for tonight. :)

Today's questions:
  1. In one of the rounds of Ome's Member's Chosen Theme music thread, you nominated a song you wrote about Princess Diana. Why did you want to write and perform that song and what reaction did you get from people for it?
  2. What is your favourite smartphone app?
  3. Excluding family and friends, what person living or dead do you admire the most?
  4. Are there any films that make you cry?

Thank you for your questions @Angela Channing

In one of the rounds of Ome's Member's Chosen Theme music thread, you nominated a song you wrote about Princess Diana. Why did you want to write and perform that song and what reaction did you get from people for it?

I loved Princess Diana. She was my role model when I was growing up. I used to follow her life through the media since I was 12 years old until her untimely death. I was 17 years old when she died and her death shocked me deeply. I felt like I had lost a friend even though I had never even met her. This song came to me in the wake of her death. It was a way for me to rechannel my grief and to express how I felt about Princess Diana. I wrote it a couple of days after she had passed. There are some verses from it written in my diary. Maybe it was meant to be a poem at first but then more lyrics and music came to me. I wrote down the notes to the melody while sitting by the piano. A couple of months later in the spring I asked my first piano teacher/choir leader if he could have a look at my song. So we went through the song I had written together and he helped me correct some of the notes. He also made an instrumental recording of the song for me that I could sing to.

I have never really performed this song in public so I have not really gotten any reactions on it from people except from my choir leader. He used to ask me whenever I run into him on town several years later if I had written any new songs and he called me a composor which was high praise coming from him who was really musically gifted.:hat:

Several years later when I had started to make fan music videos I reached the number 100. I wanted to make my 100th fan music video into something really special so I decided to make a fan music video tribute to Princess Diana using my own song. I think I did a new recording of my voice. It was in 2005. I used that for my video. But well it has not been well received on YouTube either as only a few people have commented on it or watched it.

Anyway if anyone is curious about which video we are talking about it is this one:

My childhood dream was to become a singer so this is not the first song I have written however. But out of all the songs I wrote when I was a teenager this one is most special to me.

What is your favourite smartphone app?

It used to be "What's App" but it stopped working on my phone in january. :(
It was my favorite since it was a good way to keep in contact with friends from abroad.

Excluding family and friends, what person living or dead do you admire the most?

I think Princess Diana or Elizabeth Taylor.

Princess Diana because she was such an inspiration. She used her fame to do good. She brougth attention to causes that she cared about. Like banning land mines. She was beautiful too and young. I loved her sense of humor. Also she had a way of caring about people and loving people. She was compassionate. I think the song I wrote about her really express why I admired her.

Elizabeth Taylor because she was a survivor who kept going no matter how tough life got. She always picked herself up and went on with her life. She was a really talented actress. Also she championed AIDS awareness at a time when nobody wanted to talk about the disease. She used her fame to do good too. Also she was glamourous and funny. She was also really passionate about people and things she cared about. She loved animals. She never seemed to lose hope or stop believeing in love even though she got divorced so many times.

Are there any films that make you cry?

Yes "Titanic" (1997) has made me cry every single time I've watched it! :sad:

I also cried the first time I saw "Ghost" (1990).

Some of Elizabeth Taylor's movies has made me cry too. "The Only Game in Town" (1970) made me cry for instance.

I also cried at the cinema when watching "Mamma Mia 2" (2018).

I am sure there are other movies that has made me cry too. But these are the first ones that comes to mind.

Thank you for posting this trailer Karin, it feels special to be able to see this. :)

You sound happy and enthusiastic about what you do and your career sounds fascinating. I wondered If you could do it all over again, would you still pursue exactly the same career?

Also, in your spare time (if you have any left :lol: ) do you ever draw, sketch or paint?
