Trump's penchant for self-adulation never ceases. His handpicked board at the Kennedy Center just voted to rename it the Trump Kennedy Center.

The Kennedy family is fighting it. Apparently, federal law dictates that no other memorials can be attached to the center. But when has the law ever stopped Trump?

Heh. Yeah, he intends to burn it all down, just because he can.

I am so sick of him and his boot lickers. Nothing is sacred to him. Between this and those awful plaques he put of past Presidents in the White House I have had to double my daily dose of nausea medication.
It really is like he declared himself king (and I used to think that was an exaggeration when people would say that.) He's turning everything into a monument to himself as he continues the downward spiral of the country. The White House is getting a ballroom as a shrine to Trump, the Kennedy Center is being renamed as a shrine to Trump, and those presidential plaques are an excuse for him to attack his enemies. There's a place for critiques of former presidents, but they don't belong on the White House walls.

I feel like we were on a collision course for the end of the empire with or without Trump, but he's certainly hastening it.

I want to hate him, but he's also the best sitcom character produced in America. The way I see it, there are two possibilities:
1. he has ZERO self-awareness
2. he's the embodiment of self-awareness and revels in all the hatred and outrage he's causing.

If it's #2 - the archetypal evil person - then there's no point in complaining and objecting. You cannot reason with this kind of person because he has NO intention whatsoever to improve the situation. Your agony and dismay are not symptoms, they are the PURPOSE.
I have dealt with this type of people and the only way to make it stop was to magically wish them out of my life. It's always worked.

Trump Kennedy Center is not different from trying to change Walnot Grove into Oleson Town (yes, that happened in one episode).
It's hilarious.

I admit that I used to find Trump to be a likeable asshole. His uncouth, unpolished demeanor meant that he'd cut the media and other politicians to the bone in hilarious fashion. He was like a stand-up comedian who was unafraid to tell the truth about how thoroughly corrupt the US political establishment is. I found it refreshing, considering how much politics is about ass-kissing. The problem is he became an unlikeable asshole once he took office (and especially in his current term.) He's still the same uncouth prick he always was, but he's proven to be a swamp creature just like he accused other politicians of being. He's another war monger screwing over his base, and he has the gall to lash out at them when they dare call him out on it. Trump chews up his allies and spits them out once they're no longer of use to him. His entire presidency is one big, self-aggrandizing circle jerk. I can see why wealthy narcissists continue to support him because he's one of them, but I don't understand how any working-class person could continue to do so.

That describes most politicians. The only people they want to "improve the situation" for are the people who are already well off.

What sets Trump apart is he seems to openly revel in it more than most. Turning American institutions into a memorial to himself is his way of rubbing salt in the wound.

You're right that it's futile to complain and object, but at this point, our voice is all we have left.

Possibly, but I think he just likes seeing his name plastered on everything from steaks to buildings. He wants to see himself immortalized while he's still above ground.

Yes, it's just shameless narckiness --- which some people respect.

I guess his introspective churnings about not getting into heaven, unless he stopped the wars, is all over... Who'da thunk it?

The head of the Kennedy Center is demanding 1 million dollars from a musician who cancelled a performance due to the name change.

The Kennedy Center president had the balls to call the cancellation a "political stunt." What the hell do you call Trump's handpicked board renaming the Kennedy Center?
