I hope Dems understand that they have exactly 2 years to get something done because Trump hate won't be much of a motivator for voters in 2028.
That's what concerns me. Politicians rarely learn their lesson, mainly because they're incentivized not to. However, seeing Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris call for Dems to focus on the issues while resisting the urge to go after Trump is quite the change. The Dems spent the last ten years
gleefully spitting in the eye of the working class while going all in on impeachment and Russia-gate, so this pivot among certain neoliberal figures is certainly interesting.
That said, I don't think they've had a change of heart because they suddenly developed compassion for average Americans. However, they certainly care about power. If nothing else, this election sent a clear message that the American people are tired of getting screwed over by lying, scumbag politicians. I still believe they're all politically expedient ghouls, but as such, maybe they finally realize that the politically expedient thing to do is to give the people what they want. It's easy to cheer now that they've won, but then the work has to be done. If they go back to the status quo, the Dems could just as easily see a repeat of 2016 and 2024 in 2028. It sucks that their power has to be threatened to get them to do the right thing, but I'm all for whatever works.
