I’ll miss Dale, really one of the few actors on this hot mess of a show who played it straight and was a character who acted like a human being, unlike the rest of the cast, except maybe Cristal and Amanda, who all either act like lunatics or walking talking dollar sign cartoons. Missed a huge opportunity by having a shoot out to get rid of Sam, Kirby, Adam who bring nothing to this show. Or really someone, anyone other than Fallon. Playing this show as superficial comedy is a horrible choice. But it’s the CW so…

At some point the bow will break with Adam. The criminal acts you've mentioned are serious enough to warrant prison time but for some reason the writers think because his victims rolled their their eyes and said, "That's Adam" then somehow the audience is expected to forgive and forget. That's a cop out and at some point the character of Adam has to be addressed for his actions.

A cop out that worked out rather well with some other TV characters including a few in soap operas. Warren Fox in the British soap Hollyoaks and Tanja von Lahnstein in the German one Verbotene Liebe (based on Sons and Daughters) are infamous serial killers who never got caught. Their actions were addressed and Adam's were too - by Joseph, Jeff and Alexis. But the police and justice fail to act. I think it's important how and by whom such a character is played. In NuDynasty I accept it because Sam Underwood was introduced as an insane guy with a certain devilish charm. In the OG Dynasty Blake and Alexis knew most of the bad things Adam did and he wasn't really held responsible for it either in the end. I think it always was "that's Adam".

EXTRA: Just a I mentioned it, I remembered a special guest star on Verbotene Liebe who appears in this image with the one and only Tanja Wittkamp-von Anstetten-von Lahnstein (left).

Fallon being shot isn't even the interesting cliffhanger - it's everything surrounding it.
And the Alexis one was the biggest and most pleasant surprise for me.

In the original he was too underwritten as a character.
I found him very intriguing, especially in the first two seasons. But I agree, Alan Dale was the highlight of CWDynasty as he managed to maintain a certain quality in spite of everything else that was going on.
Initially, I felt the same about Adam but that didn't last very long.
and they already killed Anders off this season
I mean, if they hadn't done that because they wanted to keep the coffin scene for the season finale.

Yes, I think these events will always feel exciting, no matter who-or-what. Incidentally, did the confetti cannon make a sound, a sound that could have masked another gunshot? Or did Beto never get the chance to shoot someone?

But at least they didn't laugh about it.

Joan Collins in a German Sons & Daughters?? That's like...the reverse situation of Helmut Berger in Dynasty !
And the Alexis one was the biggest and most pleasant surprise for me
Ha, the best part is original Dynasty stuff :D

I wonder if Anders's other research into Adam's crimes is in the Book of Secrets? Kirby knows about Adam's adoptive mother, but I don't think anyone but Anders (and of course Alexis) knew Adam burned Alexis's face off and then did that stunt with Fallon's picture. He also could have included a lot more background stuff about things Adam did back in his youth that would send up a few hundred red flags. Heck, there might be a few loose clues about Adam's movements in the period he was gaslighting Steven that Anders never realized were important.

Throughout the latter half of this season, two words kept coming to my mind: "intelligence" and "logic". I'm applying these words to Peach Dynasty, I did not see that coming! Both the writing and the behavior of the characters exhibit intelligent, logical thought. It was the intelligence of the characters, not just the well educated Carringtons and Colbys but other characters - especially Claudia - that I attracted me to Mile High Dynasty. A lot of plots on television, especially on soap operas, depend on characters acting out of stupidity. How many times have you watched a show and thought "if they had simply ____ all of this could have been avoided"? The characters haven't fallen into that trap this season, a prime example being Liam seeing through Eva. A lesser soap would have dragged this out (possibly having Liam and Eva marry) causing us to lose respect for Liam.

Even when they have done things I didn't particularly like (Fallon's edible-fueled hallucination) there was a great deal of thought that went into it. It's almost as if the writers have thought things through and planned the plots ahead of time instead of making it up as they go along.

At the start of the season I had the impression the current team was wrapping up the plots they had inherited from the previous team. I think the plot with Evan was abbreviated from what was originally planned; I think Evan planned to frame Fallon for a crime and plant her hair as evidence. I also think Ryan was a character that they inherited and dismissed quickly - fortunately as I didn't see any chemistry between Sam and Ryan.

Cristal at last makes sense as a character. I can understand why a woman who is essentially a good person would be attracted to Blake, she comes from a similar (if not worse) family and sees Blake as someone she can rehabilitate (something many women do in real life). Cristal is smart enough to see that she can accomplish more from a position of power than by being a physical therapist of modest means. You could also say that this is Cristal's way of justifying her sometimes manipulative behavior. Could it be that Cristal really is (as original Claudia put it) "the most dangerous Carrington of them all"?

Dominique has been fleshed out beautifully. Yes, she's ambitious and lacking in maternal skills but she's become an engaging and even likable character. Dom's fashion business is the one business story that intrigues me because it isn't only fueled by her interest in fashion but also by her grief over the loss of her mother; I sense feelings of guilt and regret just beneath Dominique's bravado. I've really warmed up to Dominique since seeing her vulnerability and I want to see her succeed in business and in romance; I am dreading the thought of Brady breaking her heart and hope he doesn't follow through with Alexis' scheme.

The cliffhanger: a fitting farewell to Joseph. A catfight, we haven't had one in a while and this one was good. Fallon had reached her breaking point, this made perfect sense plot-wise and was well choreographed and edited. When I saw Alexis in that dress I asked myself "is she getting arrested tonight?" Adam is obviously the killer: motive, opportunity and he previously dressed as Fallon in one of his schemes. It's almost too obvious. Who is this mystery witness and how did they observe what happened on the terrace of a penthouse? I wonder if someone was using a drone. I sense Brady is having second thoughts about Alexis' scheme; she'll have a harder time persuading him to follow through while she's in jail. Jeff's breakdown was very well acted and believable.

The last few minutes were very suspenseful. Three quarters into the episode I had no idea how it was going to end - I like that. Of course Fallon is going to survive. Eva's going to go to jail and will probably never be seen again; I was expecting her to be around longer. What this episode did extremely well was set things up for next season: is Adam really a murderer? Again?! Will he get away with it? Again?! Will Brady break Dominique's heart or will he back-out of Alexis' plan. Will we be seeing a lot more of Beto? I sure hope so. Will Jeff recover from his breakdown? Or maybe his days are numbered. I suspect both Kirby and Amanda will be finding skeletons in the Carrington's closets. And maybe the lake.

Thank you, I needed to see that again. I don't think they used doubles for this. If they did they did an excellent job of editing it to conceal that. The music was a good choice. I've been wanting them to tone down Fallon's humorous comments (as they're often out of place and not that funny) but "did I mention you're fired?" was the cherry on the sundae.

On this Daniel I'll have to disagree. Using a pop song devalues what could have been a great scene but I suspect the budget doesn't allow to have someone create a good music score to undermine the seriousness of the situation. The other thing I'm still noticing in this clip is that undercurrent of humour. The actress playing Eve is delivering her lines in the manner of a drama so top marks to her however Liz is still playing it with humour.

Most of the wardrobe on Dynasty is designer stuff from all the big names (with big prices), but in this case the show's Costume Designer custom-made this dress because they wanted to mirror the OG scene as closely as possible. The photo at right is the design for JC by Nolan Miller (the photo of Joan's perp walk was too "big" and would not download properly):

I saw a lot of variations on black and white, but Alexis was the only one in anything I would call "color". They had Fallon in that white feather-y dress to highlight the blood that would end up all over her. One funny thing I noticed is that after Eva had her confrontation with Liam (in his room upstairs at La Garbage), she felt the need to go change her dress, do her hair differently and fix her make-up to make her appearance at the party to shoot Fallon.

My guess is that the dress code for the party was black/white, and Alexis wore red just to be a jerk. Worked out well for her, didn't it? We joke about how large her penthouse is (multiple zip codes, etc.) but it must be even larger than we think. While she's in one part getting ready, Adam's in another part pushing someone off the balcony (one assumes there would have been some noisy struggle) and she doesn't notice. Did she ever see Dr. Larson arrive to speak to Adam (since she obviously didn't see him "leave")? Did Adam say goodbye to Alexis before he left? If he was her "date" to the party, why didn't she insist on him staying to accompany her to the hotel? Also, one would assume there would have been commotion on the ground below when Alexis departed for the party? We also joke about the lax security at her building, so should we expect there to be security footage of Adam entering the building before Dr. Larson does, placing him at the scene as another potential 'pusher'?

The quality of the fabric is definitely not the same. The original looked like silk rather than cotton.

Hey Grant, well I thought exactly the same but, guess what? Checking CW Dynasty's Instagram account, I found another one from a beautiful girl who is Liz's stunt double. There is also an Eva stunt double. You can see that here:

There are several types of satin, each with a different sheen; Joan Colins' dress looks like messaline while Elaine Hendrix's dress may be crepe back satin. Both dresses may be silk though Nolan Miller admitted (years after Dynasty ended) that he often used polyester to keep costs down.

I can understand why a woman who is essentially a good person would be attracted to Blake, she comes from a similar (if not worse) family and sees Blake as someone she can rehabilitate (something many women do in real life). Yes, and this is where Krystle in the original should've gone (and what Claudia alluded to, but didn't actually show up on screen) - as I said, some of the most evil people on the planet are the ones who've seen themselves as "good people" and have done acts so unspeakable because they could justify it as doing it for the greater good. To drag it to the extreme, Hitler never saw himself as a bad person for sending people to death camps. Ironically, I think a person like Blake is better suited for a power position from the pure fact that he probably doesn't see himself as a good person and is more ambivalent about his own morals.

I think this is a good step in making Cristal a more complex and interesting character - she sees herself as a good catholic and does things from that stand-point. But are her actions really good or is it because she herself sees them as justified?

I'm also rather surprised stunt doubles were used. I assumed LG's frumpy, lumpy dress (seen in the photo above) was hiding padding to protect her during the tumbles and rolling around as SHE did all the work. But the production company's insurance policies probably forbid the actors from doing such stunt work, even if they want to. Bravo to everyone involved.

You can tell most of the stuff they were throwing at each other was rather low-impact, but when Eva reacted to that book being thrown at her ("the opening salvo"), it looked like Kara Royster was genuinely surprised it hurt so much. I'm sure LG (or her stunt double) pulled her punches when she bashed KR's head (or KR's stunt double) against that table three or four times, but it looked real enough, and that bit really stuck in my memory because Eva didn't seem fazed by that at all.

Finally they had a catfight where they didn't feel the need to intercut it with other scenes and make it a music montage.

A bit sad about Eva being gone though, but I assume she'll turn up in prison. Easy guess is that she's the one who threw the doctor off the roof...

I wonder who is the one who witnessed the guy's fall. In the original it was Steven.

I'm going to guess Amanda, which may also be an easy guess. In part because she is the only Carrington child left in the equation, and partly because everyone else was busy I think.
